    Sprained Ankle NSV!

You give me hope that my thick ankles will slim down some!!! Sorry about the sprain Sending lots of healing thoughts your way and wishes for a super speedy recovery!!!!!
  4. Nancy, I'm right there with you! I already went through a few pairs of pants that were once too small - that I had saved (you know how that goes). They were too snug but eventually fit. But now those are too big!!! So I am right in the process of figuring out what to do. Like you, I can still get away with using most tops. But the pants are the most difficult. Plus if you're swiming in them it looks like you're bigger still! LOL I always chuckle when people post they have to shop for new clothes and joke that I want that problem... but it's not so funny when you have to go to work and everything and hanging off of you over night LOL!!!!! (Lucky us though, right! :-) ) Happy, low investment shopping to us both!
  5. How AWESOME!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!

    The hope is...

HI Dave, I know how scary this decision is. It's true that it takes courage and determination. It sounds like you have done quite a bit of soul searching and that your struggles have been huge. I can tell you that for me, in the short 8 weeks that I have been sleeved, I have found tremendous benefits to my health. My energy is so much better but mostly my outlook on life has improved 100%!!!! I won't lie and say the're haven't been ups and downs (scale not moving at times, a little pain returning to my incisions after it was gone, difficulty getting in proteins) But, it has always passed!!!! and I know it will pass. I accept that it is a process, NOT an over night transformation. However, all in all, it is a fast process! and that keeps me so happy, positive and motivated because, again, I *know* that each day I will move forward with this sleeve! It is great that week to week something good happens. And I just feel happy. I know that in a few months from now, a year from now etc. I will be even further along! It is great to read on these boards about people's successes, even if they've had a few struggles here and there. I think most everyone seems to have benefits of daily improvements in health, activity level, optimism, confidence boosts, in addition to weight loss. This surgery is totally doable!!! The benefits when weighed against the detriments of our weight issues are tremendous. Most of us don't get to this place on a whim. We don't take this lightly. We are prepared to do some hard work. But we know our efforts will pay off. I've said this before, we are so lucky to be able to take advantage of this science/technology/advancement, whatever you want to call it. I'm 48. I wish it was available 15 years ago! LOL I definitely have no regrets. I wish you the best of luck on this journey as well as great health an energy. I think you are going to do GREAT!!!! Looking forward to reading more about your journey and progress!!!!!

Ok NorCals... we need to decide on a meeting

Sorry I did not get to this post sooner!!! My preference is Hayward, Vacaville, and Sacramento in that order. Sac is over two and half hours away for me but I'm willing to make the trip if no other placed works. Otherwise, I can do Vacaville. It seems to be the #1 choice so far. I hope we can make this happen. I look forward to meeting everyone!
  13. Welcome Sandy!!! Thanks for your post. I look forward to knowing you better and learning about your progress in this journey!!! I'm a relatively new sleever my self, just 8 weeks out. I am really happy and making steady progress. My biggest challenges of late have been getting my protiens in and ingesting more than one or two ounces of food - mostly because I am focusing on nutrition. But I feel great, have energy and starting to look slimmer. I've had no complications thus far. I am really happy with my decision. Best of luck to you. I am sure we'll be connected through this board!

  15. I've never heard or read about such a thing. Is this related to sleep apnea?! Hope you get to the bottom of it!

    Bike-riding

Yes!!! and I LOVE IT!!!! It's very easy on your joints but you can get a very good, high cardio vascular workout. You can go as long or short of a ride as you like and you can do intervals or just cruise, or ride fast. I find that I enjoy both the street and trails! I get caught up in the scenery and time just flies! If you put on a heart monitor you will see how you burn calories like crazy!!! It's awesome! and very motivating! I highly recommend it. Also, I am obviously overweight. I carry most of my weight on my butt, hips and thighs. I know I must look... interesting... on my bike :-) But I don't give a hoot! YOU GO!!!!! Have a great time. Also, you can look in your area for a cycling group so you can meet people to ride with if you don't want to go alone. Plus it's just fun! Great way to socialize! You can also try MeetUp for a local cycling group. There are lots of events you can participate in if you wanted to as well. In my experience, cyclists are really nice, encouraging folks. When I am riding on the street, especially trying to do a little climbing on hills, they will give me words of encouragement and support as they pass by. Some hang out a bit to chat. It's the best thing I've done for myself (started in 2008). HAVE FUN!!!!!! DO IT!!!!! :-)

Did any of you ever wonder...

Wow! I can't believe this thread! I have, and do sometimes still, wonder if this will really work for me! And yes, especially during those stalls. One of the reasons I think I almost compulsively come to these boards - in addition to being an incredible source of information, they are a reassurance to me that others have gone through similar things and that I am not alone in this. Bryn you are rigth that sometimes after many years it's hard to change those beliefs. And like you said Adri, I want to be wrong this time, really, reallyl badly! I'm busy collecting new evidence LOL. That's why I just LOVE reading about people's successes, no matter how small. They remind me that it will be okay!!!! I am not alone in this experience. I am not a weirdo! :-) (Okay, maybe I'm a weirdo, but not my fat issue) Thanks guys for your thoughts and comments!
