    I Put On Weight?

I agree with the others above. Don't panic ooffa! Your body will go through lots of changes. It helped me to focus on hydration, protien, movement etc. There will be lots of ups and downs and changes you will experience. For me, it has all been worth it!!!! I haven't felt this happy in a long time. And let me tell you, I'm almost a year out. Even though in the begining you feel stalled or that it's not happening fast enough, it actually flies by! I cannot believe I am here. Hope this helps kiddo. Hang tight!!
  5. I've been away from the board and wanted to say "hey!" Lots going on - not bad, just busy and slammed with work. Wanted to send you all well wishes and tell you this board is still on my mind!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Ok Time To Be Real With Me..

Everyone is different and our bodies are different. I don't know your friend or her particular circumstances so I could not say what she's going through. But on a separate note, I have learned that sometimes complaining and being unhappy can become a way of life. For some it can become a habit that is very difficult to break - it doesn't matter what's in front of you. I know that personally, when I run into that chronic dissatifaction, where that's all you hear, it gets to me!
  7. Skcunningham!!! Congratulations!!! What a great post! I think you are so right about the way people look at us and respond to us. I just recently had the experience of giving a presentation and in no time I felt so strange with the attention I had in the room! My mouth was talking and on the side I was thinking: "oh my, I really was as invisible as I felt!!!" I could not believe it. So good for you!!! You got your pick of the best job! Go get em girl!!!!! Shine your light!!!!

    Hi Folks

Congratulations Kelli!!! I'm also getting close to a year (sleeved June 6) and hoping I could also reach 100 lbs. lost by then. The weight loss has slowed way down but I think I can do it! Isn't it incredible to see what one short year has brought!!! I feel so happy and so greatful!!!!
  10. This is one thing I did differently this time. Like you I had clothes in many sizes from losing and gaining it back. Those clothes helped me as I've been losing, especially the first 6 months or so, and I didn't have to really buy much. But now! I get rid of things so fast it makes my own head spin! Of course, I stretch them as far as I can - I can't afford new clothes every month. But once I'm out of a size, and it's no loger usable because it's way too baggy or too big in the shoulders and it falls off etc, it's gone baby!!!! I feel like I've been peeling down to the new me. I am not wearing those again. If I gain ONE POUND, it's coming off. I'm not doing that to myself again. I decided and made that committment so the big clothes go! :-)
  11. I know every doctor has different protocol etc., but just to give you an idea, I was on liquids through week six! It was not till week six that I began mushies, and at that point we are talking about a tablespoon at most of yogurt or a bite of a scrambled egg. Still had to supplement with protein drinks. For a lot of us it is a very slow process. I am doing great. Have had no problems with nutrition or dehydration. Hang in there! Sending lots of good thoughts your way for a super speedy recovery and so that you may be on your way home soon!!!!

    New Clothes...later

I tried to hold off as much as I could too. I was able to use some things I had saved from when I was down in the past! That really helped. So I didn't have to really buy anything for the first 4 months or so. However, because my job demands I look put together, I do have to juggle clothes a bit. I try to "make do" with one good pair of pants and looser tops. Then I may replace a couple of tops so they're more fitted while my pants are looser... you get the idea. I did have to get a new jacket though. But I am just eeking out the last few weeks since I will not be able to wear it next season - it's huge :-) My weight loss has really slowed down now since I am closer to goal. But, I still want to hold off on buying too much or spending money until I know I am stable. It's a challenge! Albeit, a good one to have, not complaining!!! But indeed a big pain, especially if you're not really a shopper -- I'm not.

    Is It Normal.....

I have definitely had a big change in my taste; even since the first few months of being sleeved! It's still in flux for me. It's strange but it does appear "normal."

    2 Weeks Post Op!

    Congratulations!!! It's a great feeling isn't it?!

2 Days Away And Im Scared Crapless!

Yes, it's totally normal! I was so scared, the day of, as I was getting my IV put in I felt like I wanted to run out of there! But, I remembered everyone here telling me it was normal and that they had the same type of feelings so I didn't read into it. It's surgery and we go into a situation of having "no control" where eveyone is "doing things to us" like IV's, carting us around, cuting into us :-) , so we're human. We are going to have that fear response. Hang in there!!!!! Sending lots of good thougts your way!!!!

When Did You Start Intense Workout After Surgery

I started walking right away and by week two increased intensity. I was cleared for spin class and riding my bike between weeks 4 and six. Pretty much after about week 7 or 8 I was at full speed.
  18. mullet head, sounds like you have it figured out after all! Have a great weekend as well!!!
  19. I also tapped into some smaller clothes I had saved "hoping I would wear again!" I had a few things up a size and down a size ... from all the ups and downs in weight! So if you have a store of those, don't forget to go through them as you lose weight! It saved me for several months! AND, like twoboysandagirl said above, get used to baggy for a while! :-) or at least, ill-fitting. I just keep telling my self it's temporary! :-)

Really? No Underwires Right After Surgery?

I had no trouble with my bra after surgery! Of course now I have a bunch of really cute new ones! :-) Something to look forward to! I agree, don't buy things if you can avoid it before surgery. You'll need to replace everything rather quickly.
  21. HI Randal, I didn't have a barium swallow after surgery but wanted to offer some words of support. I know that right after surgery I was encourged right away to drink fluids and light protein shakes. Nurses were instructed to make sure I had somthing going at all times. It would be soooo tough just to get 1/2 an ounce down!!! A tiny sip felt like a pile of goop!!! All this to say that it makes a lot of sense that your doctor said there's a lot of swelling. If there are no leaks you're good!!! Sounds like your MD is on top of it!! So hang tight! The first few days/week is the hardest. Then things settle down and the swelling does go down. Sending lots of good thougths your way for a super speedy recovery! Welcome to the losers bench!!!!

    All Most 3 Months

You look great! Fit and healthy!!! I can't imagine you have much more to lose! I know that I've had repeated stalls throughout. Sometimes as long as 4 weeks. Then I get sudden, consecutive drops. I've only recently been more steady with about a 1 lbs loss every couple of weeks. I know that for most, the closer to goal, the more it slows down. But each pound really shows too! I've just kept doing what I needed to do knowing I was on track and tried to ignore the "stall" - which was usually the scale but my body was doing something. I know it's easy to say! :-) But hang in there. You really do look great!!! It's working for you! :-)
