For sleevers that are a year+ out..
suez1105 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi sleevers, I wanted to know if anyone who is a year or two out can you tell me what a normal day eating wise is and what your typical meal looks like? I know everyone is diferent, so I would love a few responses, I really just want to start mentally preparing myself to what a normal day of eating will be like once I have healed and you are able to eat a little more. I already know pretty much how it will be right after the surgery, but I know as time goes on you can eat more, and just would like to hear what all you eat during the day. Thanks so much, and I am sooo excited to get mine! -
I have read so much about the sleeve in the last few weeks, some good, some bad. For the most, more good then bad. Someone posted that they really have a hard time eating out with their husband. She said her husband gets upset that he pays so much for them to go out and eat because she can't really eat much. I am not worried much about this. My husband is very much into his body, he works out a lot and is very careful with what he eats (wish that rubbed off on me, lol). Sure we go out to eat sometimes, but not often, and certainly not to expensive places. My husband is also a fast eater, so I figured by the time he was done chomping down, and I was done slowly eating part of my appetizer, we would finish together. I think I would of course have more problems when I get together with friends, because we like to eat and drink, but honestly, I don't do this terribly often either. I think I would be able to adjust fine, in fact, I will be thrilled when after my surgery if I stopped being completely food obsessed! Anyway, is there anything you have experienced since your sleeve that you maybe don't really like, but the benefits really outweigh all that? I mean lets face it there are pros and cons to everything in life, I didn't think this was going to be any different, but I for one am willing to take any bad to just be thin!!! Just trying to see as many different views as possible before my (hopefully) surgery. Thanks!!

How big of a screw-up did I make?
suez1105 replied to wendy1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry about it honestly. I consulted with two different surgeons. The first my friend who is a nurse went with me. She asked him about a req pre-op diet. He said only 48hrs before. He did say he heard some doctors give that advice but he kinda just rolled his eyes n shook his head almost like it wasn't true. I kinda find it hard to believe that you can shrink a fatty liver that much in 2 weeks to make a difference or that your one meal will make a difference. I think more that you can loose more weight and we all know that the lower our weight before surgery the better we are thru the surgery, just my opinion. Also I would think they just want to see if you can stick with it so they can see if you will follow the rules afterwards. -
Griselda, thank you so much for all the information, it was a really big help!! I feel so much better about everything, thank you very much!! I totally see now why they tell you to get your protein in first, because I definately want to be a healthy skinny, plus I know the protein is so important for your body. I just wanted to make sure I could indulge a bite or two of some of my favorite things once in a while. I will say, I did LA Weightloss back in 2002, their plan was basically 3 servings of Fruits, 3 servings of Veggies, 2 servings of protein, and 1 serving of a carb and fat a day plus some dairy, but I forget how much. (it might have been 2 carbs, but I am not positive, it's been a while). I did feel absolutely great and I lost a lot of weight fast. I even realized back then, that when I would indulge in a treat once in a while, I would enjoy it so much more! I mean I would get a candy bar like once a month, and that would be my monthly treat (yes back then I was so disciplined), and let me tell you, it was like the best thing I had ever eaten, now I guess since I indulge in way too much junk, I feel like I am used to it and it doesn't even taste that great! Who knew, YET, I can't stop eating it. I am glad you said I could take a few small sips of something during a meal, I have a really hard time not drinking and eating togther. I am trying to at least start now by cutting back on it and really trying to drink less with my meal. I am really looking forward to my sleeve, I am looking forward to eating portions that are normal sized again, looking forward to enjoying my food more and not feeling so guilty about eating, because I know when I am eating, I am eating way too much, yet I can't stop myself. Looking forward to not being so food obsessed, to live like a normal person some day. Looking forward to this time loosing the weight and keeping it off! I love you guys! Oh yeah, Saints92, Good luck on your journey too, and keep me informed of how you are doing! I know for me I am scared to death of the operation and mostly the anesthesia. I work in a hospital in the ICU, so I should be more settled by all this, but anesthesia worries me the most out of all this, why I don't know. I mean I have been at my job for 2 years, and have never had any of our patients have a problem with any of their surgeries, so why I have such anxiety, IDK. I guess it's just the fear of the unknown, I am gonna be 34 in 2 weeks, and have never had a surgery before. Not scared of the proceedure, I have a surgeon I feel very comfortable with but just scared of "going under" lol.

Anyone have any recommendations for a NJ or PA Doc?
suez1105 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went for a consultation at the Barix clinics in Langhorne PA. The doctor I saw keeps pushing the gastric bypass, but I know I definately want the band. He said that they will have someone from Lap band come and put it in since that's not what he does. I want to know more about the doctor who will be doing it even if he is from Lap band. I am thinking about looking for another doctor just in case. I am waiting for a call back from the Clinic about the doctor but haven't heard anything. Does anyone have any recommendations for a doctor they used in Pa or NJ? I have started with my doctor superivised 6 month weight loss plan, and hope to be ready by the begining of October to be banded. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks! -

Thanks I will go online and check those out. They are a bit far from me, but will check them out all the same. A nurse friend told me about a Dr. Noyan in Hamilton NJ. She had a friend that used him, anyone know anything about him? Thanks again! -
