    scared to death

You will be ok. I felt the same way. I have a 4 yr old and a 18 yr old. I had my surgery a couple of weeks before my son's graduation and a month before my little one turned 4. I barely made it through the bedtime story the night before the surgery then I went into my room and just sobbed. All of the wonderful people on here gave great encouragement. I cried on the way to the hospital after I dropped my little one off at the sitter. In the prep area, with IV and meds in already, I asked my husband if it were too late to change my mind. He said "You have already done everything you can do to provide the best outcome possible - Don't worry". Somehow that helped. I know I prepared and it was in God's hands. Now, with that being said, I had no complications other than being extremely nauseated by the pain meds. Once I got off the pain meds in the hospital I was fine. Came home and didn't have to take any more pain meds. Then about day 4, as most of us do, started thinking what in the world did I do to myself. I hadn't second guessed myself the entire time up until right before the surgery. I was about to lose my mind, I thought I had prepared. I was ready. Wrong, it was hard mentally, harder that I thought. How could I live and function when all I did was sip, sip, sip all day no stop just to get my liquids in. Then - Day 5 - it was a little better. Then - Day 8 - Glorious day 8. Now, three months out, I am so so so glad that I stayed the course, had the surgery. I am losing slower than I had thought but I am now down almost 85lbs from when I began my journey. I feel so much better and I am healthier mom. I love my sleeve. For the first time, I have a tool to helpl me keep the weight off. As far as complications, there was a person on here that had major complications right before my surgery and scared me too. Spent days back in the hospital. Last month she posted updated pictures. She is doing great and still thinks the sleeve was the best decision. Good luck.
  2. I started my lifestyle change and low carb life pre-op and lost 43 lbs. I am down another 42lbs in the three months since my surgery. I don't get to exercise as much as I would like. I do three days a week, 30-45 minutes. But I am very active in my normal daily activities. I definitely suggest starting your new eating habits now. It definitely helped not going through carb withdrawal after surgery. Also, I did not have any co-morbities and dropped below 40 BMI prior to surgery. My insurance still paid, no problem. My doc said they use starting weight to submit to insurance. Good luck.

    Crab legs

I had crab legs last week while out of town. They were awesome. I told my husband that it was wonderful that I could order a small portion of crab legs and be completely full. Plus, as an added bonus, I wasn't finished eating way before everyone else like normal. It was a great dining experience.
  4. When I had my son, I was a little heavier than you are now. My weight at that point was a serious concern on my pregnancy. While I was able to get pregnant, it was very hard on the pregnancy. For your health and that precious little baby, wait a little while longer.

Thinking of Cancelling my Surgery.. HELP!!!

I think it really depends on what you are eating for your one meal. I only had a two day liquid diet but I had been on a very low carb diet for three months prior. My surgeon showed me pictures of a patients liver who wanted "one last meal" and had a big meal of Pasta. It was ugly and caused complication during the surgery. Now, he says he won't even operate if he opens you up and see's a fatty liver. If you are chowing down on pasta and high carbs - then call your doctor. It's not worth the chance of complications. If you are eating high Protein, low carbs, just do the two days liquid starting now and you will be fine. Good luck.

    sooooooooo sad

ohhuera I think you took what everyone is saying the wrong way. Go back into your doctor and fight now! Demand to be re-weighed, demand a greater explaination. Explain you had just finished a large bottle of Water and had not drained your bladder. You have come too far to give up now. It is ridiculous that you have to start over. Demand to not start over. I have gained a pound since yesterday and I am 11 weeks post-op. I know it's water weight because I know I am following my doctor's strict plan <30g of carbs each day. You have worked too hard for this. Fight, fight, fight!!!
  8. Thanks for the laugh this afternoon, I needed it. You will get through it and it will soon be a distant memory. Trust me, I knew I had to turn off the tv during my recovery time when I thought the dog food commercials looked good. Hang in there, it's all worth it.
  9. You look awesome!! So glad to hear you are doing so great after the horrible start you had.

    Told my Mom

I am so sorry you are having to deal with this, there are enough worries prior to surgery with insurance, ourselves, and life. I am in the exception as well. My mom was completely supportive of the surgery; however, she thought I was getting the lapband. I just didn't correct her until after the surgery. Now, I go her her independent living apartment complex and she yells out to the other seniors there "Here's my daughter who had the weight loss surgery, do you see all the weight she has lost" It's a little unsettling. Of course, I do get the remark from time to time "I'm glad you finally did something about your weight, you were getting big". (Thanks Mom) Give your mom time, she will be happy for you after it's all said and done and you are safely on the road to recovery.

    Need new Breakfast Ideas

I understand, my stomach is a little sensitive in the morning as well. I have found that if I force myself to drink my Water first, the food sits much better when I do eat breakfast. Can you do a shake for breakfast? I sometimes jut grab a protien shake for breakfast.
  13. I am only 8 wks out and I am at 72 lbs total (43 lbs pre-op and 29 lbs post-op). I am following the same regimine - low carb less than 30g a day. It's hard and mentally challanging some days but so worth it. If you start now, you can start some really good habits that will only make life easier post-op and get a jump start on lbs.

Meggie, I have had two stalls as well. LOL. I just got off one, stayed the same for almost two weeks and then dropped 4 lbs in two days. Good luck on the your goal!! I have a similar one. I am trying to get to Onderland prior to my 40th at the end of the year but I have 7 lbs more to go than you. I have a cruise planned for the end of November. I can't wait to see all the cute clothes I can buy for the cruise.

Wow!!! You girls are all doing great!! Michelle - 70 lbs, awesome!! Kelly - 30 lbs to goal, wonderful!! Meggie - 45lbs, great job!! Life definitely does happen!! I can't believe it's been 8 weeks for us. I have lost 27 lbs since the surgery which I feel is kinda of slow but I also lost 43 lbs prior. I am very happy with a total of 70 lbs since February. I finally had to clean out my closet and get some smaller clothes, my 24's were literally falling off. I think my favorite NSV since the surgery happened on a recent business trip. I got on the plane and felt totally comfortable in that tiny little seat AND I had an extra 6 inches of seatbelt!! It was awesome!! Let's keep rockin' this sleeve girls.
  18. I am sorry you are going through this. I have been very blessed with great friends. They are all supportive and encouraging. I have a small group of close friends who are all married except one. This probably helps.
  19. Congratulations!! You are doing awesome.
  20. Diet soda are fine with my doctor after a few months out. He suggests to just pour it over ice to let a little of the fizz out. I am only 5 wks out so I haven't tried yet. I was a major diet coke addict pre-op (like 4-5 a day) so I am trying to stay away as long as I can.
  21. It sounds like you got hit with a double whammy - the dreaded week three stall and your period. Relax, there is nothing you can do about it. Stick to your plan, hide the scale, and drink more Water if you can. I just went through this about 2-3 weeks ago. The scale has started moving for me again, not quite as fast though.
  22. I thought I was totally prepared. The sipping once I got home brought out the WTH feelings. I think day 4 was pretty bad for me too. I ended up putting my fluids with a couple of ice cubes in my toddlers insulated sippy cup w/o the spill proof valve in. Every hour I started with 6 one oz medicine cups. I would fill one up and drink it, then repeat through the hour until all six were finished. Then repeat. My incentive for getting through them quicker - a break from sipping!!! Then amazingly - Day 5 happens. It seemed to get drastically better on day 5. I was able to get through the six cups in 30 minutes instead of the hour. Then by Glorious Day 8, I was drinking much easier and moved to a big girl cup. Good Luck!! It really does get better quickly. There are some bumps right down the road like stalls but the sleeve is so worth it.
  23. Thank you so much for sharing this. Your story is an inspiration and I really needed to see this tonight. I had a total emotional meltdown tonight. A quick trip to Sam's turned into my 3yr old begging to stop at Panda Express for dinner. I had asked him to drop me at the clothing store while he went to eat, but that was going to be too much trouble so I was fine with just visiting while my husband and son ate. However, my husband's complete and utter lack of consideration just pushed me over the edge. I knew I was going to have difficulty with his eating habits post op. He just sat there shoveling the food in. Since I wasn't eating he didn't even ask me if I wanted a drink. How inconsiderate. Anyway, enough of my ramblings, I just want you to know that your posts really help us newbies out more than you will ever know. Thank you!
