Does anyone regret getting sleeved?
susnl replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As with most of the posts above, I had the WTH reaction the first week. I was lucky, no complications. Now, every day I have little NSV (non scale victories) that I would have never experienced before. It was one of the best decisions I had ever made for myself. Even in the surgery prep area waiting to go back, I was worried and asked my husband if it was too late to change my mind. The OR nurse came to ask some more questions and asked me why I choose the sleeve. I listed all my reasons and she looked at me and said "Good choice, I had see so many lapband complications back in here". Somehow, that made me feel so much better. This woman was a bariatric surgery nurse and she knew what she was talking about. My teenage son was against the surgery, I had to tell him that I was doing this for me. Now, he is very happy for me and sees all of the wonderful benefits of a more active and healthier mom. Also, I went to see my PCP last month, she was estatic. She said "Do you realize you have lost 80+ lbs since you were here in February?". One of the girls in the office had the lap band last november and was not doing as well. Good luck. -
Awesome!!! You look amazing!!

I just had my engagement ring resized last week when I hit 100lbs lost. The lady at the jewerly store had to have thought I had completely lost my mind when she tried on the size 6 and it fit. I have been a size 8 or bigger ring since I was 13. It was AWESOME. I think I must have slid the ring sizer on and off my hand about 10 times, laughing out loud. I haven't done my wedding band yet since I was advised by the jeweler that it would impact the integrety of the setting. So for now, my engagement ring holds it on and it just spins freely around my finger.

As of today, I am officially down 101.6lbs from when I started this journey. I had stalled at 99lbs for over two weeks so I thought I would never break through. The sleeve the was the best decision I could have made for myself and my family. My husbands family was in town over the weekend. I hadn't seen them since about two weeks after the surgery. They were all so supportive. I was even called skinny a couple of times. Now, I know I am no where near that yet, but I could get used to it. Yeah sleeve. :cheer2:

I have had the exact same thing happen regularly. It's usually after I get up from lying or sitting. I get a little dizzy, blacked out vision and all. It only lasts for a few seconds and then I'm fine. I just had my bloodwork done and everything looked great. I would be interested to find out what your doctor says.

Awesome!!! Congrats Meggie. I am not too far behind. Hopefully, I will be doing that dance before Thanksgiving. Yeah!!

It's not lame at all. I had a similar experience. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me just not thinking. Then it hit me. Oh my, it wrapped all the way around. I was sooo excited. I pranced out into the livingroom and showed my husband. He just looked at me. I had to explain and his response was "Good". He didn't get it at all but it was still a major NSV to be celebrated. Congrats!!

How much did you lose at 3 months?
susnl replied to Pagie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
At 3 months I had lost 38 lbs post-op. -
I went out with some friends for Girls Night out on Friday. I knew I was going to have fun and get some much needed ME time. Well, the night started off great when I tried on a pair of size 16 jeans, buttoned, zipped, and they fit!!! In January I was wearing size 26. So while driving to town, I was thinking that it was a great night already and not thinking it could get any better. Well, while waiting on the rest of the girls to show up, a couple of us stood outside talking when one of the girls walked up and said "Susan, I didn't recognize you." It was a great feeling. Can't wait til the next GNO in October. I know some on here have had friends who have not been supportive, but I have been so blessed.

Anyone else still "see" themselves at their old weight?!!
susnl replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I feel the same sometimes. I mean I see the difference in my top half, but to me my hips haven't gotten smaller. However, I know that I have gone from a size 26 to a 18 (and even some 16's). Hopefully our minds will catch up. -
Thanks. I hope you have a great time this coming weekend.

Why am I still a size 20???
susnl replied to gigi90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. I started out in 24 & 26's (pear shaped). I lost 43lbs prior to surgery plus another 20lbs after surgery and I was still wearing the same size although they were getting baggy. My tops had already dropped from a 3x to 1x. Then, magically (it seemed like over night) I dropped to an 18. Friday night, I went out with some friends for Girls Night Out, and I was wearing size 16 jeans and a misses xl top . It was awesome. -
It appears it has changed. I can click on my Labor Day Challange but not my orginal one. It must have something to do with the security setup. Maybe you can try to go into where you have your signature line setup and copy the url from there.

2 weeks post and discouraged
susnl replied to Heatherr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heather, Yes, it sucks. I was in exactly your position three months ago. I think it's more the norm than not. I lost 12.5 lbs the first week, 3 lbs the second week and then nothing. I didn't drop again for another week and a half. I had lost 43lbs in the three months prior to surgery. I couldn't understand. Most all of the people who were sleeved the same day as me had the same scenario. The best thing you can do is have someone hide the scale for you. Take your measurements (you really do lose inches when you are not losing pounds) and then don't worry about. I know that's easier said than done, but there is nothing you can do about it. The most important thing you CAN do about it is to make sure you get all of your Water, your Protein, keep your carbs low and take your Vitamins. Fast foward three months. I still stall about every third week but only for a week or less. I still average 10 lbs a month. I do the water, protein, and <30g of carbs a day. My surgeon assures me that I am losing at the perfect rate. He said that others that are losing much faster are probably losing muscle by not getting their protein in. Still, it's frustrating because I was losing faster before the surgery. It seems to be coming off so slowly; however, I realized this week, I have lost 85+ lbs in the last six months, and for the first time in my life, I have a tool that will help me keep it off. Hang in there. Remember, slow and steady wins the race everytime. -
Awesome news. Glad you are doing so good.

This morning I've lost 150 LBS!!!
susnl replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome!! It's always a great start to a Monday morning with news like that. -
I don't think so. They are Protein. They definitely weren't a slider for me. I couldn't even finish my little cluster.
