  1. MY doctor requires this as well!!
  2. Thanks everyone I appreciate the support and input! Thank you. Day two was better and cooking things for the kids that are not as tempting. Tonight the kids had waffles , I didn't even want to taste the batter. They can be my taste testers, I am so looking forward to the weight loss process of the pre op diet and the continuation with the Lap Band as a tool for a healthier life.
  3. I am having a few problems with my pre op diet, I am supposed to drink 3-4 shakes a day. That is fine they fill me up and taste great! But I had one bite of food yesterday spit it out... and this morning I took one bite and swallowed should I feel guilty. It is the temptation of the food being there, not that I really want or need it. I am so scared that I am going to be a lapband failure due to my lack of will power. I am fine through meals with my family, it is cooking " tasting to see if it is done or needs more of something" It is such a bad habit of mine. I did notice as long as I turn my nose off, there is no desire to eat... I just keep telling myself " nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I did this with every scoop of cookie dough on the pan, in order no to cheat..... Will I be saying this to myself for the rest of my life? Does anyone have any ideas... Thanks
  4. Wow that is a great idea!! Thanks!
  5. Every scoop of cookie dough on the pan I repeat " Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"

What Pre-Op Diet Are You On?

My pre op diet is 3-4 protein shakes a day! I love my shakes and they are filling... I had a chocolate one for breakfast, chicken noodle soup flavored for dinner, Strawberry for evening snack and since I work nights I will be putting the chocolate in my coffee. I mix them with 8oz of fat free milk. 60 and 120 grams of protein a day for me.

    Drink and Drive

So I am set up my surgery date which is July 1st!! whoo whoo!! They tell me make sure you never drink and drive... I am thinking DUH, everyone knows it is dangerous and illegal to drink and drive... So then I am thinking about it before I open my mouth... Wait she means after the band not to drink anything while I am driving. Because, if there is a problem you will wreck.... I was like OMG... I was just informed I can't lift (which is my current job) and no bread for a year (can handle that) but, no water while driving.... I live in Florida and a drink is just as important as the car keys ! Has anyone heard of this.... So I am not worried about pre op diet, or going under, I am worried about not being able to drink water while I drive, or my band slipping is my worst fear.. Those were the 2 things the doc's office emphasized the most. Things I haven't even thought of ...

    YOu go girl!
  10. Let me admit, I found out my surgery date on Tuesday, so I am having my big dinner on Friday night, (steak), and I had my last Mexican dinner this week as well. How terrible is that?? LOL!!
  11. I think the pre op 2 weeks of 3-4 protein shakes a day is not scaring me.. However, at my appointment on Tuesday, they told me no bread or pasta for a year. Which I am not big on either on of those, but to really comprehend the idea is huge... I was also thinking this Friday is my last dinner night, and the next time I will chew food is like 6 weeks away.. That is a crazy concept as well... I think it is so awesome , I am so excited.. Is anyone else having thoughts like this?
  12. I just got my surgery date today! July 1st! I am so excited, and a little worried... Although most of my concerns were reassured today at the office a whole different ball park of anxiety "slipping". The girls at the office really stressed on the importance of being super careful. I wirk at a job which requires lifting... Their protocol 6 weeks!! I can not take off work for 6 weeks I will loose my job..... So I have decided to take 1 week off, and then light duty the second week and wear a binder to get my muscles in place.. At my appointment today I had a scan to see if there were any blood clots in my legs, I was given a lot of helpful paperwork, and quiz to take online. A few days before my surgery I will go in and get a EKG, lung x ray, blood work and then meet with my nutritionist (which is a free service offered). Tonight I went and had a nice Mexican dinner and 2morrow I go for my last steak dinner and Saturday morning I start my pre op diet!! This is happening so fast.... July Banders we are at the beginning of our new life journey lets be successful together!
  13. I really liked the Unjury, it tasted great, and filled me up. I drank the chicken noodle soup flavor for dinner and I had a hard time finishing it, I felt stuffed. The sent me a sample packet which in included a thermometer, and container to make drinks in. I have tried a few that were picked up at Wal-mart and wasn't as satisfied. Good luck!!
  14. I think it really depends on your insurance and your surgeon. I have already had my consult appointment, and all my approvals, so my appointment( which I am very anxious,,,, ) is at 900 am . i was told I was going to have a scan in office to make sure i didn't have any blood clots, they were going to give me an information packet on what to do at home and schedule my surgery. I will find out 2 morrow though what will really happen!! Good luck!!
  15. I got my approval overnight, literally overnight and I go in on the 14th to schedule my surgery, so I am under the assumption I will be a July Bander!! I am having a lot of the same concerns. I have heard when you are eating at a restaurant you learn to enjoy the company you are with and the atmosphere more than the food. She gets up goes into the restroom looks at how successful she has been as a reminder to enjoy the food, pack up the remaining portion and have it for dinner the next night. Working out--- I love to work out, but having the motivation and the energy to do it is a completely different thing. I have decided that I will make time, and will commit in order to live a healthier and longer life for my husband and children. I have bought the sample packet of unjury Protein shakes and loved them. In fact there is a chicken noodle soup flavor. I drank it for dinner, and i was so full like Thanksgiving full, I was really surprised!! My emotions are going crazy too...

    Coffee

So I love coffee, but with creamer I can do the fat free creamer, but not the sugar free. This morning I had coffee, with Hazelnut Creamer and unflavored protein shake blended in. It was yummy!! I am under the assumption that I will no longer be able to drink creamer, because it is empty calories. I work graveyards and a lot of nights depend on coffee to get me through the night. Does anyone use creamer in their coffee and does it cause any problems? Thanks
  17. I find it hard to find time to workout on a daily basis, which scares me that after I have the surgery I will not have any results. Has anyone not had a daily workout and lost weight? I know when I was my ideal weight in the past I loved to workout because it was not as hard as it is now. I feel if I have this tool and know it will work, then my workouts will be more successful than in the past. I guess when it comes down to it and now that I have got approved I am really hoping I can stay committed. I don't think the food will so much a problem as the working out. Any words of wisdom?? Thanks

    sex drive after lapband

What about the band? Can you feel the port or band during sex?
  20. While I was at the seminar with my surgeon he said he makes a tunnel around the band to prevent any slipping.. Has anyone heard of this? Or is this normal protocol? I was wondering if he does this than when adding the fills, will there be enough room for the band to expand? Thanks in advance.
