So Tired Of Hearing...
massindex replied to ChristineS NY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here here! Agreed -
I discussed with my PCP before I went with Dr. Almanza last year and he was 100% on board. I gave him all the contact information and Dr. Almanza and his group gave me all the paperwork to give back to my doctor. It worked well.

Sometimes I Luv The Forums Sometimes Not So Much!
massindex replied to Shilo30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are serious about losing the weight, you will lose the weight. This is a tool and if you want to be successful, it's up to you. The tool just puts the brakes on if (and when) we mess up once in a while. -
No Weight Loss For 10 Months
massindex replied to katief's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mix it up a little. Go low on calories for a day (800 or so) then a couple days back up at you current level and then back down. Also, how often do you work out and for how long? When I hit my goal weight (200 lbs) I bumped up my exercise routine to a total of 10 hours a week (5 days per week) and lost 6 pounds immediately in about two weeks. Also you might want to have a little more carbs and less protein one day a week. Don't let your body get comfortable with a routine. -
Running Out Of Steam During Exercise - What Is The Reason?
massindex replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Listen to PdxMan, he knows what he's talking about. Also, you'll find that as you need to change up your workout routine also just like you need to change up your food intake. Make sure you give your body time to rest 1-2 days per week. Some days need to be high intensity and other days need to be endurance. -
I've got a 56th birthday coming in June and my wife has to go to San Diego for some work projects so I've decided to knock off one of my bucket list items by going with her. My bucket list choice of poison is a Century Ride (100K or 62 miles), I was wondering if anyone was interested in attempting the fete with me? The information can be found here (http://www.shadowtour.com/Subnav/Course_Maps/Fiesta_Metric.htm). Other than one relatively steep incline, the course looks promising. I'm not out to set any records and any one can turn back at any point if they don't feel like they can make it. I'm going to attempt this a week after another triathlon I'm currently training for so I don't have any expectation other than just trying to finish in under 5 hours. Let me know if anyone is interested and maybe we can meet up there.

Finished My 2Nd Half Marathon! Yay!- Have Question Tho....
massindex replied to fern's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I has the same thing on my last half marathon. My nutruitionist said it was likely because of insufficient carbs, low iron and low magnesium. We made some adjustments in my diet and supplements. I haven't experienced it since. Congratulations by the way! -
Newer Post Op Looking For Advice From More Seasoned Sleevers....
massindex replied to MamaT's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started out walking 30 minutes but I set myself a goal for 6 months out, like running a 5K (in my case it was a triathlon). That kept me focused on a goal and meeting certain levels of fitness. A Couch to 5K routine is always a very good starting point. -
Wow. You've got a lot to handle. I can help with the sleeve questions but the deployment and all that entails is out of my league. Maybe someone else?

It's pretty acidic. You might want to water it down a little but go for it.

Dooter is right. Forget the protein for the first week or so.

From the album: Hitting my goal weight - what it means
Since I've literally lost more than half of myself, I wanted to share a photo to show that those billboards we see on the highway might not all be Photoshoped. -
We all go through it. You are consuming fewer calories than you have in the past. I still have it occasionally.

Sliders are empty calories that you can comsume that can bypass your stomach without getting any nutritional value back. Ice cream, because it melts, alcohol, etc are some of these items. -
What Were Your Restrictions After Surgery
massindex replied to suzcomptime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone pretty much it on the head here. Swimming is something I would watch if you're thinking of doing lap swimming until about a month out. However, just light recreational swimming in the pool after 2 weeks should be good.
