Here we go....Surgery in 2 days.

Hi All, went in Tuesday came home Friday! The first few days I was literally have second thoughts. It's Saturday and I am so happy I did it. Everyday gets so much better. I lost a lot of blood from the blood thinners they gave me, so I had to have a blood transfusion.

Looking for August 13th Surgery Buddies

Hi What procedure are you getting?: How long did the process take?
  6. Hi Rachel, You are doing so well! What do you eat on a daily basis? My surgery was on 4-27 and I have only lost 27 lbs. My dr only gives fills every 8 weeks so I have only had 1 fill. it seems like I dont even have a lapband.

    fill not working?

I got my first fill on Wednesday. My band holds 10 ccs. I got 4 ccs, then the nurse made me drink water. It felt like pressure in my chest, so she took .5 ccs out, then the pressure in my chest went away when I drank the water. now I don't feel any restriction, I can eat a lot without feeling full. Why is this happening? Should I have not told the nurse I felt restriction with the 4ccs, then she wouldnt have taken any out, and maybe I would feel full and not hungry? I feel like I am having to diet like I used to before the surgery with no help from the band! I really frustrating!

    fill not working?

I am eating salads, eggs, yougrt, chicken, It all goes down fine. a couple of times I forgot to chew really well, then I realized I had no problem getting it down. hopefully it kicks in soon!
  10. I am just starting the solid normal food, and I was wondering does everybody really have to wait 10 minutes between bites? So for my 30 minute lunch I get 3 bites. That almost seems impossible. 10 minutes is a long time to wait for another bite of food. Also my hot food gets so cold by the second bite. My Dr. says I wiil stretch out my small pouch if you dont wait 10 minutes. Seems crazy! Anyone outhere have any input, let me know
  11. I was banded on April 27th, and I have lost 20 lbs so far. I lost it all in 2 weeks which I loved watching the scale move everyday. I have not lost a pound in two weeks. How can I not be losing when I am eating so little. I am eating about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I am starting to get discouraged. I get my first fill on June 8th. hopefully that will help. i have no restriction, and I am hungry all the time and can eat anything. So looking forward to losing again and not being hungry. I am also a little scared about getting a fill, but I know I need one!

    I don't understand

Thank You, I feel better now!
  13. I am 3 weeks out and starting to feel like I can eat more without feeling full. Everything goes down even if I dont chew well. Will things totally change once I get fills?
  14. I am 3 weeks out and a little concerned. I get pain around the port area. When I move a certain way, It really hurts. I can also feel it from the outside when push on the area on my stomach. I just hope my port didnt flip flop, I have heard that can happen. Is this normal?
  15. Thank you, you always have such great advice. I want you to be my mentor????

    Is your port area sore?

    Thank you, I feel relieved!
  17. I have a question i am still confused about. When we take a bite of food and chew it up really good, does it go through the band right away into the big part of your stomach? or does it stay in the small stomach for awhile and thats why you feel full because their's no room in the small pouch. If the chewed up food goes straight through the band how do we get full? And how can we stretch the pouch if the food dosent stay in the small pouch at all???? How does it all work?

    waiting 10 minutes between bites????

When were you banded? I wonder if you have the same surgen as me?
  21. jamiesdoingit

    Does everybody do this?

When i drink liquids, i have to wait 5 minutes between sips! I have to eat 1/2 hour after my last sip, and wait 1/2 hour to drink anything after i eat. Plus I have to wait 10 minutes between each bite of food. It is almost impossible to get all your liquids and meals in, in one day. Does anybody else have to do this, or my surgen crazy?

    waiting 10 minutes between bites????

I am so glad to hear this, because I was really having a hard time even waiting 5 minutes. Well I am going to ignore my Drs orders and do I have been doing and that is small bites, chewing really good, and taking it slow. Thanks

    Newly Banded

Yes, Let me tell you the first 4 days are worst. I was banded on 4/27 and I am feeling so much better now. I had tons of gas trapped in my body and that was the worst, but everyday it gets better. By the end of the first week I was so ready to start eating more normal foods, soft foods. One more week then it goes to all foods and I cant wait. I have not felt that hungery. I know after I eat one egg I am no longer hungery so I am thrilled! Hang in there......
