  1. I had surgery on December 15, 2011. I have lost 51 pounds so far. 44 pounds since surgery. I dont have a fear I will stretch my stomach. I do also have a hard time getting in all my fluids although I'm close most days. I can only eat 3-4 oz of dense protein at a time. I still have to have protein drinks to get in my protein for the day. I do exercise 3 times a week and try to stay active on the other days of the week. I eat a lot of fish, it's easier to get down and it's loaded with high amounts of protein. I wish everyone good luck on their upcoming four month surgiversary.
  2. My highest was 282 Im down to 245. This pic is my before, my one month and my current two months.
  3. Thanks everyone for your sweet comments. This is still very early out and I still have a lot more to lose but I'm on my way!
  4. Congrats on your approval, you'll be on the losers bench in no time. I got sleeved at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington by Dr. Derek Weiss. He is a wonderful doctor. If there is anything you want to know just ask. Thank you for your sweet comment! Good luck on your journey!

    December 2011 Sleevers Update

I had surgery December 15, 2011. I have lost 30 pounds since surgery and 37 pounds total. I am active but have not started an exercise program yet. I am wearing a size 20 from a size 24. I can fit in some size 18's. I have lost a half shoe size, I went from a 10 to a 9 1/2. I guess I am a slower loser but its my fault for not exercising. I was exercising but I was so drained and fatigued for days afterwards I've stopped. I'm glad to see that everyone else has been doing well.
  6. I've been taking it since a week out from surgery and I havnt had any side effects from it that I know of. I'm not sure if it has caused me to have a slowed weight loss, or what I'm experiencing is normal. I've lost 25 pounds in a month. I still would rather take them than not better safe than sorry.

    Using Straws

My surgeon told me that straws were just fine. I used them and didnt have any issues with extra gas in my tummy, it actually made drinking easier. i think this is an individual issue, if it works for you then its okay but if it gives you too much gas then you know it's not for you. Some issues arent for everyone, it's a caution. I think people need to figure out the rules that are actually beneficial to their sleeve and use their own discretion on the other rules. There are so many variations to these diets, everything doesnt work for everyone.

    Post-op Gallbladder Issues

My surgeon put me on actigal for a year which is a prescription to help keep your gallbladder in tact after surgery. If the surgeon doesnt remove it during surgery I would ask for something to take after surgery because it is a popular problem that can be prevented.
  9. I did have the same issues right after surgery. I think I read somewhere that this is an effect of being in Ketosis but I'm not positive.

    Exhausted

I'm fatigue also but it's not everyday. it happens about two or three days a week then the other days like today I feel great. I take all of my vitamins everyday, and get my water in. I just think I'm still healing from surgery which was 31/2 weeks ago. I'm glad it's not everyday because it sucks working when you feel like it's the last place you want to be. It does suck and I will be so glad when it goes away completely because I'm a single mother of two children and on those fatigue days I dont even want to talk to them or help with their homework. I'm also in school full time working on my masters degree and consentrating is near impossible.

  13. Okay guys I'm three weeks out. I've just been doing my elliitcal machine for about 15 to 20 min every morning. I've noticed that I'm extremely tired afterward which lasts all day. I mean I'm just wiped out and I'm back to work. I was wondering if I'm working off too many calories for my body to run. I consume between 600-800 calories, and I burn off about 250 calories with the elliptial which leaves me around 400 calories a day. Unless I drink my calories I cant get any more calories in a day. My carbs are around 30-50 a day. I drink more than 64 ounces a day, I stay thirsty. What could I be doing that's wrong. Also I stall out for about three days, well i did this week and last week. Should I just stop exercising until I can consume more calories, or what else could it be that's leaving me so tired? Do I need to up the carbs with that small amount of time on the elliptical? I havnt noticed a big difference in my weight loss, I worked out every morning and my weight was still stuck for three days, but TOM was here also. But last week I was stalled for three days too with no exercisse, then I lost two pounds in one day. if i'm going to stall anyway regardless of exercices what do I do, is working out making a difference?

    Really Tired After Exercising

Thank you all for your advice. I do get my blood work done on Tuesday so we will see what my levels are then. Thanks for the banana advice. I will slow down and do something lighter for the next few weeks. I do appreciate all the advice.

    Really Tired After Exercising

Thank you. I think you're right. I just may chill with the exercise until I'm at least two months out. i would hate to have something go wrong because of something I'm doing too soon. I'm not thrilled about exercising anyway, so this is actually good news. LOL

    Starvation Mode--myth Or Reality?

I have this very concern as well. I'm averaging between 600-800 calories and work off about 200-300 a day, and that means my body is getting a net calories of 300-400 a day. I was extrememly tired by the third day and i thought either I need to stop exercising or up my calories. I can't fit anything else in my sleeve unless I drink more calories. I'm on my 3rd week, and I've stalled for three days in week two and week 3, so i'm not sure if I need to stop working out until I can get more calories in so my body will have more fuel.
  17. I got sleeved this past Thursday December 15th, in Lexington, KY at Central Baptist Hospital by Dr. Weiss. Right after surgery I felt a ton of gas, I was out of it couldn't really focus on family and friends. With every sip I took there was a big bubble of gas that came up from my stomach and out like a belch, I didnt pass gas until my second day and the third day I had a bowl movement that was crazy ( I KNOW TMI). My doctor used the OnQ pump which was great. I never really had pain, except one of my incisions was sore which is till sore today. I stayed in the hospital for two nights and I thought I was going to go crazy with all the tubes running out of me in every direction. I havent been hungry since surgery but I have been really thirsty. In the hospital they served me popsicles, broth, a protein shot and lemonade. I drunk the protein shot, popsicle, and lemonade. Here at home I've been eating Campbells Chicken broth and I add unflavored whey protein to it to help get my protein in. I've also added the whey protein to my juice or drinks. I did purchase some isopure drinks which I will drink half at a time because they have around 40 grams of protein per bottle. The unflavored protein really mixes well with warm food as well as cold drinks. This is the ony way I can manage to get in my protein and my liquids for the day. My doctor sent me home with liquid loratab as well as something for the gas, nausea. Oh yea after surgery my blood pressure went up. Before surgery I always had perfect blood pressure. The doctor said that sometimes the surgery can drive up the blood pressure. Overall I'm doing fantastic. I've slept on both my sides the first night just fine. When I got home I was able to walk up the stairs and sleep in my bed comfortably. The only issues I've had is one of my incisions are sore. I've been walking a lot and sipping a lot. It takes me a while to finishe my liquids but that's not a huge issue. I really can't complain, I've kept everything down, and I have a good amount of energy. I do take all of my vitamins and suppliments so I wont be deficient. Anyway I hope all the December Sleevers are doing well!!!!
  18. Congrats girly. I had the same problems as you, hurting when drinking too fast and blood pressure went up after surgery and they prescribed me blood pressure meds. Actually I didnt take the bp meds, I knew it was the surgery and my bp is really good normally. When I went to my 1 week checkup yesterday they my blood pressure was perfect so it wasnt a bad thing that I didnt take them after all. I'm glad you're doing well. Have a happy Holiday.
  19. I didnt have specific orders but listening to your body is the best answer. If you can handle walking a mile or two a week without hurting, being tired, or being sore I think to go for it. I'm four days out and I just walked to our neighborhood store and I was hurting on the way back so I know that this is too much for me right now. I will stick to walking around the house for few more days then try the longer walks again. I'm going to do what my body allows to make sure I dont over do it and pull something.
  20. I had the same issues but eventually after a few days I was able to produce a burp and it felt so good. When I was discharged from the hospital my doctor gave me a prescription for the gas which also helps alot.
  21. Wow I was hoping the big incision site wouldn't be sore for that long. Oh well I guess things could be worse.

    Protein Drops

I actually was given protein shots in the hospital after surgery and my surgeon said it was important that I get the protein in. Yes it's made from cologen but for the first stage of clear liquids it's okay, as long as you dont make it habit of using them. I'm only allowed to use them for the first liquid stage. Also the brand they gave me in the hospital which was Proasis All Natural Protein Shot strawberry flavor wasn't bad tasting by itself. Those are sold at GNC, also Walmart has protein shots. I add the not so good tasting shots to my crystal light and it works perfectly until I can have better quality protein in my diet. Good luck.
