The 20% Insurance Doesn't Cover
Shea replied to omamilam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try CareCredit. I have a out of pocket maximum of $2000 and I got approved for CareCredit for the $2000. I think there are other medical loans out there but I've only used CareCredit since it gave me the amount I needed. If you belong to a credit union you could do a pre-approved amount of credit up to the $5000 limit and say it's for surgery. -
Protein Shots 42 Grams of Protein per bottle
Shea posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to wal-mart this weekend and found New Whey Liquid Protein by Body Fortress. It has 42 grams of protein, 180 calories, 2 carbs, its gluten free, sugar free, fat free, and caffein free. It comes in a 3.8 oz bottle. They were 2.50 per bottle or a pack of 6 for $9.99. they had different flavors such as watermelon, grape, and fruit punch. I figure a couple of these bottles after surgery and you would be good on your protein for the day while you're on liquids. i dont know how they taste but I would imagine you could add them to crystal lite and make them taste better. If anyone has tried them let me know how they taste and if they made you feel better right after surger. Thanks. -
You look fantastic girl and so happy! You've done amazing, keep us posted on your progress!!!

You are right about the collagen. I did some research on it and I ended up taking the protein shots back to the store and bought more protein powder with whey isolate in it. Thanks for your help! -
What I have learned 3 years later after WLS
Shea replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was great, Thank you for your wisdom and insight. I love to read post from those that have had the sleeve for a few years. Congrats on still doing well and proving the nay sayers wrong! -
I just bought these Protein Shots from walmart over the weekend. They had 42 grams of protein, 180 calories, 2 gram carbs, no sugar, no gluten, no caffein, fat free. They were $2.50 for a 3.8 oz bottle. They come in strawberry, grape, fruit punch flavor. I have not tried them yet since I have not had surgery but I'm guessing you could put them in some crystal light if they dont taste good. Two of those suckers and you'd be good on your protein for the day.

Hello December Sleevers. I will hopefully be getting my sleeve December 19th (which is also my birthday) by Dr. Weiss in Lexington, KY at Central Baptist Hospital. Waiting I have to say is the hardest part of this. At least I will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving before surgery. I wish everyone the best of luck and the best recovery possible. We have to keep in touch and keep each other posted on our progress. I'm thinking about making Youtube video's as well to remind myself of how I looked and felt and to keep myself accountable. My goal is to lose at least 70 pounds by May of next year. Right now I'm at 283. My sister is getting married and I'm going on vacation and I would like to have a chunk of weight gone by then. I hope I'm not being unrealistic. I guess I will see!

I will only have six working days off, I sure hope this is enough time. I had to use some of my vacation for other things. How is everyone else doing??

Hello How is everyone??? My paperwork has been submitted to the insurance comany Humana for surgery in Lexington, with Dr. Weiss at Central Baptist. I hope they approve me first time around. I am supposed to have BMI if 50 for the sleeve and I come in at 49.9 so we will see. I hope everyone is doing well and losing, losing, losing!!! I can't wait to be on the losers bench with you guys. I does kind of suck to have surgery around the holidays but hopefully I can get it done early enough to be back to regular foods so at least I can have a little of the Thanksgiving meal.

Please send positive thoughts my way - waiting on approval!!
Shea replied to hibblesmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat with you girl. I've submitted my info to the insurance and am waiting on approval. If they do deny you, remember you can always appeal but lets be real we dont want to go through that. If you're anything like me I want everything smooth sailing, but that's not reality sometimes. I dont know how long the insurance company take to get back with you but I'm cheering for you and hoping for an approval the first time around! -
One Year Sleeversary
Shea replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look absolutely beautiful girly. You're beyond inspirational you need to do a commercial. I"m near your starting weight and to accomplish so much in a year is so awesome. I'm so proud of you and I hope I will do as well as you've done in this length of time. One good thing about is you're always ready to give advice and cheer others on as they struggle through their own journey. I love a person who's beautiful on the inside and outside. GO GIRL!!!!! -
working on the process to get sleeved
Shea replied to mrsdean4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Kacey. Dont be surprised if you have to do a six month supervised diet which seems like a long time but goes by fast. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. This is one of the best decisions you could ever make for yourself. -
