    Sandwiches

Honestly, I was banded September 7, 2011 and I have not had a problem eating a single thing yet (knock on wood) lol. That doesnt mean I go crazy and eat whatever I want, but I do allow myself to eat subway a couple times a week because, like you, I love sandwhiches and wraps Good luck with everything!

  6. Well, I was banded on 9/7/11, so I am not an expert but here is my opinion. You are going to be fine. I can tolerate a lot of things I thought I wouldnt be able to, bread included, which I was told would make me sick. Now having said that, even though I can tolerate it, I have only had it twice and I dont plan on eating it again for a very long time. The doctors give us guidelines to follow for a reason The more we stick to their food plan, the more successful we will be in this life-long journey! Good luck
  7. After my surgery, I had my period for a whole month!! The doctor said it was because I was losing weight so quickly and I needed to switch my birth control.

    Nutritional Info

thanks so much for your responses, that helps a lot!
  9. Does anyone know all of the nutritional guidelines we are supposed to follow as far as calories, fat, carbs, sodium, etc.? I have been eating pretty good but I am trying to become more focused on tracking what I eat. Any info would be appreciated, thanks
  10. I have been on a liquid diet for the past 9 days and my surgery is on the 7th I get to have 3 protien shakes a day to replace meals, and as much water, crystal light and chicken broth as I want...lol! It really hasnt been hard for me beacuse I have been trying to stay busy and when I start to feel hungry and it isnt time for a shake, I just drink a lot of water/crystal light to hold me over. Good luck!

    NO Pre-OP Diet

I am on day 4 of my 14 day liquid diet! It's not fun, but they said it shrinks the liver...oh well I've already lost 6 lbs! lol anyways, I'm sure it doesn't matter, good luck
  12. I was just wondering if anyone out there has been banded by Dr. Whipple, and if so, what was the process like for you? I have my appt with him July 7, and Ive already spoken to my insurance company and all I need is a 40 BMI and they will approve me within 14 days (with no 6 mo diet/exercise plan!! wohoo!!) Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows how quickly I will be able to schedule surgery, did you feel comfortable with them, etc. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!!
  13. I know this is a wierd question, but when you go in to get weighed by your surgeon for the first time, are you in your clothes and shoes or do you wear a gown and go bare feet?
  14. Isnt 6 lbs in just a few weeks pretty good? I would think thats something to be proud of! I am getting banded in August, how quickly are you supposed to lose weight?
  15. I am in the process of trying to qualify for the LB at Memorial in SAV too. When I went to the seminar last month, they basically told me the same thing. Even though my BMI is 39 she told me that I dont look like I am big enough to get it and that it had to have a BMI of 40+. I am so tired of the back and forth. So they tell me Im obese, but not obese enough? I wouldnt take no for an answer. So, since then, I have seen a sleep doctor and found out that I have sleep apnea. I then called memorial back and explained to them again what my situation is and they finally scheduled me to meet with the surgeon next month. I have already had to jump through a lot of hoops (with memorial and my ins co) and I know there are going to be many more to come, so just hang in there and keep fighting! Good luck!!
  16. Is having high cholesterol levels considered having a comorbidity? If so, is it bad that I am hoping to have high cholesterol, since my BMI is 37? Apparently a BMI of 37 isnt enough on its own to be approved for lap band...

    Sleep Study

Did you already know you had sleep apnea by having someone watch you at home? I know this might be a silly question, but I am wondering if I have it as well. How did you go about getting tested for it? Did you ask your doctor to recommend you to a sleep doctor or did he refer you to one on his own? I know this is slightly off your topic but we have similar BMIs and both of my parents have sleep apnea so I thought it might be a good idea for me to get checked out because that would qualify me for surgery! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Good luck with your process

    comorbidities?

thanks for the help! Its not that I really want something to be wrong with me, I just really want to qualify for the surgery and Im not sure what types of things they consider while deciding whether or not to approve you. thanks again everyone
  19. I just found out that my insurance will cover most of the cost of Lap Band but they said I need to have prior authorization from a doctor. What kind of appointment would I make to do this? Do I just go see a regular doctor? Any help/information you have would be great, I want to get this movin!! Thanks!!
  20. I signed up for a seminar next week, but if I dont qualify for it then there is no point in me going. Has anyone with a BMI of 36 and no health problems been able to get the Lap Band? Also, are they able to tell you up front whether or not your insurance company will cover any of the cost?
  21. Thanks for all your help! I sure do hope it works out!!
