    Surgery Complete!

I had a hiatal hernia too that had to be repaired. I was out of it for the first two days and it took me a week before I started feeling better. I just had my surgery on August 8th and I'm feeling 100% better today. Hang in there, it gets a lot better in a short amount of time.
  5. LOVE the Richmond staff. True professionals. Thanks for preparing me for every detail. :)

  8. That's the way to go. Our case manager told us not to invest much in new clothes because we will lose weight so fast, like a size every 2 weeks. I hope that's true! Im going to start hunting out my local thrift stores too. It's fun to buy smaller sizes with a small budget!
  9. WOW!! So awesome & exciting! I'm one week out from my surgery. I can't wait to see what's in store 3 months from now! I love reading all these success stories, it's very motivating!
  10. That is so great!! It's so nice to hear that guys go through the same pain we women go through! You go, hot dad!!
  11. I was sleeved last Monday too and I was still feeling blah and layed around all day today in my pjs sleeping some of the time. My husband told me not to go to work tomorrow. It was supposed to be my first day back, but I just don't feel like I can. Maybe Tuesday will be better. I'm looking forward to being back to normal too...

    Post-Op Pain

I'm in the same boat, sleeved on the 8th. I had bad gas pain in my shoulder, but it was gone in a day. It hurts to eat anything. Jello, ice pops, water all hurt going down, but I'm sure this will go away as soon as the inflammation goes down. Hang in there, this is all normal.
  13. Thanks for the advice. The soft food I'm referring to is in the form of applesauce, cream of rice/wheat, creamy soup. I think I'm going to find some good shakes for now.
  14. No problem keeping it a secret. I'm going back Monday and nobody will know nada! I have been telling people close to me that I don't want to tell that I had sleeve surgery, that I had hiatal hernia surgery. It's half true because my doc actually did repair one for me when he went in to do my sleeve. Never knew I had it, except it explains why I felt sick a lot after I ate in the past. It's a good excuse if you ever need it, the surgery is about the same, they go in laproscopic, 5 incisions.
  15. So I am officially sleeved as of Monday, the 8th. I've never had any surgery except when I was two, so it was a surreal experience to say the least. However, I'm having issues eating or drinking right now. I take very small sips and small bites of soft food and it hurts when it reaches my sleeve. It feels like a ball in my chest, like I'm having a painful contraction as it goes down. Is this normal? How long does it take for this to go away? It's very uncomfortable, it almost makes me dread eating anything. Thanks for any thoughts!
