Rough 'nothing tastes good' kinda day
mel30 replied to Husky2Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is also for Kellyw I was sleeved on the same day as you and I am having the same problems. I can only get about 2-3 bites in and then I get the horrible chest pain. It also takes about 10 minutes to go away. I usually will get up and walk and pray that, that will fix the pain. I totally understand what you are going through I put a call into my doctor's office late today so I will let you know what he says. Hang in there, it has to get better for us -
That is great! Keep up the positive attitude. It gets better. I am on day 18 and I am feeling great! I am a Fort Worth, Texas girl too! Who did your surgery? Melinda I'm on day 7, and still have some pain. No where near as bad as the first few days. I have been lucky and have finally started being able to walk around. I think it is because I hate standing still. Those few days where it hurt to move drove me batty. The only thing good out of it was that I was able to sleep. I think I am ready to go back to work after Memorial Day. I am down 9-10lbs and love it. I want to lose more soon. I am trying really hard on my liquids, dreaming about the mushies. I was told to aim for 3 cups, 24 ozs of Protein shakes daily. I think that puts me at about 60 g of protein. I can usually do about 2.5 cups. then I get sick. I also have to drink a minimum of 3 cups of other liquids. I have been able to do that part no problem. I just stretch it out. My son looked at me yesterday and kept telling me, and others as I was getting him from school, my mommy is getting skinnier. I loved it. When I went to the school to get him, as I work there too, my coworkers were telling me that I looked great. My principal asked me if I really should be up driving and walking. She thought I was nuts to be up and moving, lol. Anyway, I am excited and wanting to dance for making it this far. One week down, a lifetime to go.

mel30 replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Meggie, I am glad your visit went well. Sounds like we are getting the same responses. I think you will be perfect for new patients. Thanks for all the videos, they help me so much. Soon we will move to mushies and I can't wait to see what recipes you come up with Melinda -
Lisa, you look great! I just got sleeved on May 9th as well in the DFW area. I can't wait to start seeing big results as well.

Day 8- and? RV cake looking good right now...
mel30 replied to meggiep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I probably am drinking too fast. I do catch myself gulping so then I go back to the cups I got at the hospital. Do you or anyone else still get pain on left side when taking a deep breath or yawning? It stops we in my tracks. Melinda -

Well, today I actually went in for my post-op appt. The nurse removed my staples and took vitals. After that I was given barium to drink and check for issues. All is well so far. I was a little disappointed that I didn't really get to talk with the doctor. I had some questions that I wanted answered. The physician assistant was in and gave me very vague answers. I am still having left sided pain that hurts with activity and drinking, but I guess I feel better knowing the swallow test was fine. Yesterday was the first day I was able to get all my Protein in. Today I am doing ok as well, but still feel like I can't figure this out. I asked about Vitamins and was told I could hold off until 4 weeks on Vitamin D and B-12 if I couldn't get them in. I am glad to hear everyone from the RED VELVET GANG is surviving. Hang in there Melinda -
I am glad to hear everyone is doing good other than a few obstacles. My main issue I am having today is the pain by my main incision. It hurts to take deep breaths, yawn, sit or stand up. I was trying to get off the pain meds, but feel I still need them. Could this be something that I pulled? Don't get on the scale, I made that mistake and was shocked because of the IV fluids I had built up at the hospital. I will wait to weigh at the doctor's office on Tuesday Melinda timestamp='1305296449' post='149933'] Hi there, Glad everything is going well for you, I would call your DR just to make sure that the bleeding is nothing to be worried about. I havent had any nightmares, that would really suck to jolt awake from something scary when your stomach has been cut on... ouch!!! I am doing better, still having quite a bit of pain in my main incision, but I do think its getting better every day. I do however have this pain in my stomach periodically where its like the stomach spasams, and it will travel halfway up my chest, then diminish and go away - its mostly when the pain meds have worn off -

surgery is done May 9 ers
mel30 replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Red Velvet Ladies! I am so glad everyone made it through their surgeries without any major problems. My surgery was scheduled at 8:30am and I was in my room by 12pm. The Dr. said everything looked great! I ended up staying for two nights though because of the nausea and vomiting I was experiencing. I could not get anything down the 1st night. The second day was much better so they decided they could release me. I feel a little better, but I am still hurting from the biggest incision on my left side. I am now trying to focus on getting in my liquids, but that has been such a challenge I hope we all have a quick recovery. Remember no pain no gain or in this situation no pain no loss Melinda -

Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one out there starving . I am so looking forward to having a small stomach too! I really hope you start feeling better soon. Try taking the Tylenol Cold and Sinus. I believe it is an approved drug you can take. We are almost there! -

I actually just got over a sinus infection. I was so worried I was going to have to cancel, but I am doing much better. Am I the only one still really really hungry? Can I add some fruit to my Protein shakes? I am starving!! I have lost 7 lbs so far myself. I hope you feel better! Take lots of Vitamin C Melinda
