Do you ever get to where you don't feel like a fat person?
roxanneRN replied to southernrootslbc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks,i'll looo into farmington roxane This is so me . . . I totally agree with every word you said. You need to go see a Dr. See if there is a Fill Center USA close to you. You need to have a Fluro and make sure everything is okay. You probably just need a small amount of fill taken out like .2ccs or something like that a small amount can make a huge difference in eating and not eating. If you can not find one get on that plane. You can always fly to Houston there are several Dr. that take people who were banded by someone else. Fill Centers USA Farmington, MO 63640Phone: 866-345-5872Distance: 56 miles Click here for mapEmail: provider@fillcentersusa.com Projected Opening Date: Open Status: Accepting Appointments Business Hours: Call for Appointment Availability Hope that helps! ready2 i'm in your boat---i've reached my goal of 150# and my surgery was with dr ortiz in tijuana on 2/7/07 at 274#. I am in a place where i can;t keep food down, not sure if my band area is inflamed or something else. Possibly mental.....i don't feel hungry and i have no cravings but i need to get some nutrition, i had to start crushing vitamins so i can get those down and drinking pedialyte and gatorade to get the electrolytes balanced but i'm just frustrated. this is my like 5th post asking for advice and no one has answered yet. i don't want to upset anyone who has stalled out...but this is a real problem. thanks, and also i've not been able to find a doc around st. louis to service a mexican band so if anyone knows of one i'd appreciate the info. otherwise i'll be booking a flight back to tijuana. roxanne -

i was banded in 07 and had one total unfill mid 08 because i was so tired of the restriction and felt i wanted to try my "sea legs" and see if i could monitor myself, i couldn't. sooooo, luckily at that time i had a great chicago fill doc (vitello) and he filled me again after about 2-3 months before TOO much damage was done. i've had just 1 or 2 adjustments since then by him under ultrasound, the last one somewhere around beginning of 09 and i've been appropriately restricted since. if i get into periods where it starts to feel too tight i believe its irritated and i give it rest periods, meaning i'll go on liquids for a couple days, chicken broth being a staple. that seems to help relaxing the irritation/inflammation and then its back to normal band life. i do have a question, my chicago doc stopped doing fills and i'm looking for a new fill place. i livein st louis and i'm willing to drive since st louis docs won't touch a mexican band. i am looking for an unfill because, believe it or not, i surpassed my goal and i can't stop losing. any suggestions in KC, chicago,, indie, st louis, memphis? thanks and don't get discouraged, just hang on, practice good habits but don't beat yourself up. if we could do it without the band we would have so limp along until you get your tool back roxanne

Plastic Surgery - Round 1!

a lot of recovery time depends on your own personal way of doing things, if you get sick/weak on a fairly regular basis (not being critical, some people are more prone) then three weeks would be minimum. i'm not a person who gets sick and i've always bounced back from any trauma or surgery so for me 3 weeks would be okay. and the tummy tuck will be the most painful, if they do it "right" it will be involving muscle and whoever said "walk upright" has it right, straightening up is the hardest part because all those muscles are "shorter" that being said you can "splint" your stomach with a small pillow and that can help, the sooner you're up and about the faster you'll heal the better you'll feel--congrats on meeting your goal, i'm still debating the plastic surgery, on the fence anyway, i am a RN and did a couple years in a plastic surgery 23 hour stay clinic so i've seen about every elective surgery they have pay special attention to the lifting restrictions (like dont lift over 10/20 pounds) thats the most common way patients "f'" up their surgery GOOD LUCK!!! -
well i do have occasional bouts of PBing (throwing up in non PC terms) but less than i used to, i have a lot of restriction and i've done well with it. it also was a learning curve...meaning that my stomach had to learn it wasn't hungry and you cant teach your stomach, it has to learn on its own these days i get a couple hunger pangs when its dinner time or i smell food at a time when i should be thinking about it, but i dont want to knaw the leg off a stray dog, i'm just sayin': btw, i was banded in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana and live in st louis and looking for a doc who will service foreign bands...most here won't...thanks for any referrals or helped

complications are rare, but it is a painful procedure, most of the pain related to standing upright b/c it stretches the muscles out that were just stitched to be tight...i don't think that hurts anything but your surgeon will tell you this...results i've seen have been great....good luck!
