What's your goal weight? My surgeon didn't give me one, though maybe we will talk about it at our appointment next week. I just picked something, though I'm not sure I want to be that weight if I don't have curves and an apple bottom.

Dumping syndrome
The Dora Milaje replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have dumping, but I had it for years (pretty much all of my life) before surgery so it's not surprising it would continue for me. I have dealt with this so long and any food can cause it for me so no rhythm or rhyme to it. -
Video: Emotional Mind Games After Surgery
The Dora Milaje replied to JCKlgl123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This video was what I needed to see yesterday. I have been struggling with some emotional drama with my SO and reverted to my old bad habits -- eating trash to deal with my feelings even though I felt like trash afterward. This was just Thursday and Friday so I didn't get all the way off course but he's right. I have to change my relationship with food AND with others. Have to. Also, I realized I was self-sabotaging. I have been fat for so long (see first diet at 5) I'm not sure I believe I deserve to be a healthy weight. I talk a good game but deep down I have doubts. I need to work on showing myself the same grace I would show to a friend who was going through this process. I will discuss with my therapist and I appreciate all the information and support here. -

Personally I said dump him because I assumed she had already discussed all of this with him since she has had the surgery already. The journey is hard enough why add on struggling with a boyfriend over it?
-
Sorry for the dupes

Ok well dump him. Don't even waste the energy trying to make him understand why you made the decision you did. Life is too short.

Girl you betta slay! Any "secrets" to your success that you can share with those of us still in the beginning of our journey?

Is this your boyfriend or husband? My answer varies depending on the level of commitment.

Be careful of anyone who has THE ANSWER:)
The Dora Milaje replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I noticed this, too! Which is why once I went back to soft food, I went back to logging because if "eyeing" stuff worked I wouldn't have needed a sleeve. I am still sort of amazed I can be sated on 800 calories but, when they aren't useless calories (junk food), well, that makes perfect sense. And today, I figured out how to get all my protein in while drinking less of those sweet shakes (more creative use of my Unjury unflavored and chicken flavored powders). -
No Weight Loss--like at all
The Dora Milaje replied to dthree123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're not getting 800 cals your body may be in survival mode. Just a thought but your doctors will likely be able to sort it out. Good luck. -
Turns out I can eat and be full on 800 cals. And it’s good to me stuff. Fish, veggies, avocado, cheese. This is so cool.

I also am reminded as I read posts here that we all have different relationships with food. I have struggled with disordered eating all my life and watched my mom struggle with her weight and food too. My cousin did this surgery 7 years ago and said she never thinks about food and has to remind herself to eat. She has maintained most of her weightloss. I was hoping that would be the case for me but I am almost a month out and I can see that is not the journey I am on sadly. But I am determined to get to a healthy weight and to have a healthy relationship with food. Anyway this is just me rambling.

I’m 8 weeks out now. Can I have a coffee yet?
The Dora Milaje replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was able to have decaf right after surgery. That's what I drink anyway (caffeine is like crack in my system).
