For the first week out of surgery my doc kept me on the pure liquid diet for another week. Then I switched over to the full liquid diet. The first week was not so bad but once I started on the full liquid (creamy stuff) I did noticed I started feeling hunger again. Then shortly after starting full liquids he changed me to the mushy foods and that is where I found my biggest surprise, that of feeling hungry all the freaking time. That is where I am at now in my Journey and really trying to deal with the hunger pains.

Here is the situation, I call it the catch 22 situation.

My restrictions mushy foods 6 times a day that have to fit in this 2oz cup he gave me. Also nothing to drink 15 min prior and 15 min after eating the mushy stuff.

Now that I am a eating I find myself more hungry than when I could only have the broth. It is as if the 3oz don’t even slow me down a bit. But here is where the catch 22 comes into play. I did say to heck with it and doubled my portion to see if that would stop the hunger pains. Well it did and it didn’t Soon after eating it WOW the pain. I karamba!!!! Breathing was hard the chest pains were unbelievable and to further irritate me I still was not full just in freaking pain. Ok that is a mistake I only make once.

So there is my catch 22 for now Eat to little no does nothing for me, Eat too much and yikes that is even worse.

I gotta figure out how eating just a tad bit will help me feel fuller. I been doing mushy foods for a week now and I put back on 2 lbs. I am suppose to start my full foods this week but to tell you what I am pretty apprehensive about that. I mean two pounds on soft foods and the pain with two much........ Its got me scared a bit.

Wow I don't know about the rest of you but man the two weeks I spent prior to my surgery was no walk in the park the first few days. I just kept telling myself hey this is for the greater good and if I am going to do this I want to give myself every opportunity to succeed. It was rough but I got past it and so if you are struggling remember "The greater good"!!!!!!!! The new you, the long life, the great times you can have with your spouse, the new found energy or whatever your modification is. Time does not stand still and sooner or later surgery day will come.

The intent of this blog is to chronicle my journey through the lap band life cycle or should I say "Life Style"

Let's start at the beginning and state the reasons I did this.

    1. For those of us who have struggled with their weight the answer is simple, I need something to help me loose the weight then KEEP IT OFF. Over the years my love affair with food has simple gotten out of control.
If I can't control myself maybe I can re-teach my stomach (and brain) a proper way to eat and feel full.

    2. I want to do this is for healthy living going forward. I don't know of many 65 yr men who are alive and obese.

    3. I would like to look good when my daughter gets married so she can be proud when I walk her down the aisle.

    4. I would like it NOT to me a struggle to tie my shoes or put on socks. What a freaking novelty that would be

What I hope to gain though this is control my appetite so I take in less than I use in a day . I have inserted a pic of me when this all started.
