The reason some doctors say stay on clear liquids is so that your body won't have any thing to digest. With digestion comes movement, with movement comes the opportunity for your band to not heal and adhere to the stomach that it was just sewn to. Be careful with your choices, bc your body is different from the next person. Good luck to you!

CurlyDiva replied to missjoli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you're newly banded you can't drink liquids like you used to. You have to take small sips! Good luck to u! -

yay we're "band twins"!! I too was banded on 7/13/11! Got my first fill yesterday with 4cc and omg am I feeling the restriction!! Let me tell you this, I walked in his office STARVING and walked out, took a sip of water and felt like I had just eaten a full meal. Tried to eat applesauce about 3 hours later, took me 45 minutes to do so! There is hope for restriction after the first fill! -

CurlyDiva replied to CurlyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As soon as I took a sip of water it felt like it didn't want to go down. When I was waiting at the dr.s office I was STARVING, when I left and drank some water...feeling GONE. Feels like I just ate a full meal! -

Hey all!!! I'm having a hard time sleeping on my left side!!! My port is on the left side of my tummy and whenever I try to sleep on the left side it hurts in the upper right of my abdomen area, sorta like a pulling sensation. Like organs or hanging with no support or something! Weird I know. I was banded July 13,11. Anyone else still can't sleep a certain way?

Almost three weeks post-op--how do you feel?
CurlyDiva replied to sho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I was banded 7/13/11 and I'm down 20 lbs since surgery and now im stuck here! I'm not upset about it though because 20 lbs in about 3 weeks is FAST! So my body is surely holding on to everything now for fear I'm starving myself, lmao! Everyone stay encouraged and realize that we didn't gain wait over night, so we won't lose it overnight either. Good luck guys and gals! -
August Bandsters????
CurlyDiva replied to LaDolceVita78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[Check out the forum in here that's called food and nutrition! There are amazing receipes that I'm just salivating I'm so ready to try out! Lol! I start mushies next week (2nd week post op) and they have alot of receipes for all stages! Good luck August Bandsters!!!! quote name=Mscarter007' timestamp='1310806071' post='1640353] I spoke with my mom yesterday afternoon over lunch. I explained to her that I was having the surgery and she was very taken aback. She does not believe I need it but said she will support me on my journey. I'm happy for that. The only problem I have is that my mom chooses to focus on the negative aspect of things. I don't think she knows it when does but it just natural for her. She said things like "you're not gonna like the fact that you are gonna have to drink liquids" or "You're gonna be mad when your husband and your friends all go out to eat and you can't". I am glad I told her but this confirms my thoughts.......that I will have to distance myself from her until I become stable : mentally and physically. I also bought a Ninja today. I've been wanting one for the longest. It works really well. I didn't like my Protein shake so i'm researching protein juices and non flavored powders to put into my food. Any thoughts or ideas? -
Do not have to do a pre op liquid diet...am I in trouble?
CurlyDiva replied to Lhubbs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OHHHH DAVE I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE RHIS POST!!!!! I hate to see people type "I was losiing weight so fast and now I'm THREE WEEKS post op and have slowed down, or gained some weight" Come on people, OF COURSE you're going to gain a few Lbs going from all liquids to mushies or what have u. The first 6 weeks should be about HEALING! Allow your body to do so.
