H. Pylori Bacteria
Middlesister57 replied to kellyw74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My question is this: I am suppose to have surgery in 3 weeks. Are they going to let me have it or am I going to have to wait until everything comes back as normal? My question is...why wouldn't you just ask your doctor that question? -

Is the sleeve the right thing after the Lapband?
Middlesister57 replied to jkend50035's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are many on here that have had the transition from band to sleeve, and from what I read it is a great thing. Good Luck. -
Is 40g of protein a day enough?
Middlesister57 replied to groovearmada's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am having great success with the Syntrax Nectar brand of protein powders. They come in many flavors. I mix the Lemon Tea flavor with Crystal Light Peach Tea. Love it. Another favorite is the Strawberry Creme with 8oz of Lactaid Milk, a spoonful of SF vanilla pudding powder, 4 frozen strawberries, and a few ice cubes. I mix that up in my blender and it almost comes out as thick as a strawberry shake from McDonalds. I even got some low fat Whipped Cream and I put a squirt of that on top. What a treat. You get 24 grams of protien in one envelope, and if mixed with milk that is even more protein. I do the same with the Chocolate, but I use chocolate pudding powder and don't put the strawberries in. I got some frozen blueberries this weekend and I am going to mix those with the Vanilla flavor. Excited to try it. Luckily my WL Clinic sells it. But if your's does not here is a link. http://www.dietdirect.com/syntrax-nectar-protein-drinks-195.html?gclid=CJu-5P3mqKgCFQQbKgodIRyeIA If you don't like this link just Google Syntrax there are several sites that sell it. I reccommend the sample pack you get 12 different flavors. Good Luck -
I read your post and commented on it. We sound like we are in the same boat. Let's be friends and help and encourage each other. GOOD LUCK!!!

In need of some advce and encouragement
Middlesister57 replied to Suzalicious's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am right there with you. I feel like a losers loser. A lot of people who are aproaching 4 months like me have lost 70, 80, 90, pounds, and here I am still in the 50's. I beat myself up every day. Today I went to the nutritionist and she made me feel so much better. I struggle with snacking and grazing, and she gave me a lot of good tips. She also said that I AM DOING GREAT, and just hearing her say that and really seemed sincere about it made me feel a TON better. I know it will come, and I am one of the slow ones, but heck I have never lost this much weight before in my life. Stay doing what you are doing and it will come, that;s what everyone says. I have 199 pounds to go yet so I have a LONG struggle ahead of me. YOU CAN DO IT SISTER. (and so can I) Lisa -
When can I have SALAD??
Middlesister57 replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was dying for a salad and at 3 months I had one. About a cup, OMG i went to my nieces high school play about at hour after I ate it and well lets just say I had to leave my underware at the school. No salad for me for a LOOOONNNGGGG time. -
I went a little off the deep end today
Middlesister57 replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't fret over that. As long as you didn't make yourself sick, it was pure protein. Dont worry about it, but keep it in check until the doc oks. -
Phase two food ideas! - what to eat
Middlesister57 replied to Justalfe's topic in Food and Nutrition
refried beans and cheese cottage cheese yogurt -
I've had 1/2 a bagel. I am fine with bread. In fact I am fine with EVERYTHING. And that's not such a good thing. I wouldn't start out trying to eat a bagel. I would try some toast first and see how you do. If you are OK with toast, try some bread, and then maybe a bagel. They are so dense and gummy when you eat them I would be cautios.

Nectar Whey Protein Isolate
Middlesister57 replied to Shanny's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have tried the lemon tea and the coconut pineapple one. They are both OK. But I like them so much better than the Ungury. I mix the lemon tea with an 8 or 12 oz glass of Crystal Light Peach Tea. I really like that combo. I put the dry Nectar powder in the glass of peach tea. -
Pureed Borrito filling?
Middlesister57 replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try CalorieKing.com they have most all restaraunts listed on there and you can find out how much calories and protien. I don't think a Homewrecker is so bad as long as you don't have the tortilla and the queso. -
9 days out have MAJOR concerns. HELP!!!!!!!!
Middlesister57 replied to Skinnyagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was like you with the liquid at first. Very worried that I could drink a lot. When I started on food, it was amazing how much little I could eat. There are for sure some things that go down a lot easier, and I can eat a lot of, but still feel the restriction. I was on a stall for the whole month of February, I only lost 1 pound. It was because the doctor had taken me off the protein shakes because I was having a lot of problem with my bowels, they thought I was lactose intollerant. So 2 weeks ago I decided to get back on the protein and the weight is starting to come off again. WHEW....My doctor puts you on mushies after 2 weeks. I did OK on them but if I took just one bite too much it all came back up. So be careful. You will see for yourself, the first time you feel the restriction you will know what it is. It's very uncomfortable. I still worry that I am eating too much. Oh and by the way it took about 6 weeks for my hunger to go away. One day I just realized I wasn't hungry anymore. It's more like an empty feeling than hunger. It's different and hard to explain. But you can choose to ignore it or feed it. I usually ignore it, but there are times when I feed it too. Good Luck. It will happen for you just be patient. -
can you drink alcohol after surgery ????
Middlesister57 replied to kisses1000us's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG I had one shot of Tequilla at about 10 weeks out and I got really drunk for about 5 minutes, puked, and then I was fine. I think you will for sure be able to get a buzz. -

Can't Stop Eating
Middlesister57 replied to gms1972's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just stop... Think about what you went through to get to where you were. They surgery, the protien shakes, all the hard work. Don't make it all for nothing. YOU CAN DO IT. I am only 3 months out and i've lost 51 pounds and feel like I am just maintaining on the little I eat. I feel like I am letting myself down, what in the world am I going to do when they tell me to increase my calories. It is so hard to stay away from things I like, even thought I am not hungry. Just stop. YOU CAN DO IT -

Am I out of my mind.
Middlesister57 replied to Tina293's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I think you should do it, but don't think this is the easy way out. It is still very, very hard. Even though you can't eat a lot, your head still wants to eat everything that you want to eat now. This is really the hardest thing I have ever done. I am almost 3 months out and have lost 48 pounds. I have not lost a thing for a month and I am doing everything right. I know it will come, but it is so sad to see the same weight week after week when I am eating so little and excersizing so much. Just decide to do it, I know it's a hard decision, I thought about it for 20 years before I finally made up my mind. I am 54, 5'4" and started at 432. OMG how did I get that fat? Good Luck to you. -
Oh woe is me. I had my surgery on December 14th and quickly lost 46 pounds. Since the end of January I have only lost 2 pounds. What the heck is going on. I feel so bad because I read all the posts how everyone is losing and losing and I fear this is the end for me. I have never been a good loser when it comes to dieting, but I thought this was going to be different? I know that the VGS is not a cure but a tool. I am getting my protien in and my water and excersize. Is this the end for me? I am so discouraged and don't even want to keep doing my walking and keeping my food journal, but I know I have to. I keep thinking this bubble is going to burst and I will start losing again. I just don't know what to do, I feel duped.

I ordered Baja Bobs Margarita Mixers a few years back. They are OK. Kind of have a strong Crystal Light Type of aftertaste. But they sure are better than the regular mixers when it comes to carbs and calories.
-
Good job Bob, I had mine on Dec 14th, so I had to go through the holidays on protien shakes and mushies. It was REALLY hard, but I did it. I;m down 48 pounds, can't seem to hit the 50 mark, Ive been stalled for over 3 weeks. YUK. Good luck to you.
-
I'm 54. In my 9th week post op. Down 48 pounds and on a stall since the first of the month. So frustrated. But I'm keeping up my plan and waiting this out. Can't wait to hit the 50 pound mark. Will it ever come? LOL
-
Only 2 pounds this month
Middlesister57 replied to Middlesister57's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm so glad that I finally wrote about my stall. I am doing all the right things, walking 25-35 minutes per day, logging my food intake, drinking my Water, getting in my protien, taking my Vitamins, everything that I am supposed to do. I will try to increase my calories, maybe that will do it. I am 54 and I guess some of you are right about being older and having it be harder to lose. Thank You - everyone who took the time to write and make me feel better. I really appreciate it. THANK YOU ALL Lisa -
