  1. Were you able to go straight home from the hospital and take care of yourself after surgery or did you need someone to stay with you? Just wondering as I am single with a 9 year old daughter. People are trying to get me to stay at their house after surgery but I think I will be able to come home. I just can not get as comfortable at other peoples houses. I want my own couch and bed and TV and kitty cats! My family thinks I will need help but I think I will be just fine if they just check in on me like twice a day! :P

    Thoughts??

    13 days till my sleeve!!!

  3. I do not have any good advise but can offer comfort that I did the same thing. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I have eaten everything in sight for the past week. I know it was totally wrong but I guess I felt the need to say good bye to some things I will not be eating for quite some time. I do believe that once I see the weight falling off I will be so excited and motivated that I will just about forget about all those foods or at least forget about eating them in such large quantities! Good luck to you! I hope you find a better answer than I did.

  4. drain tube? This is the first i have heard of a drain tube... Can someone give me a briex explanation, please????

My surgery "Bible" calls it a Jackson Pratt Drain. It is a clear tube with an egg shaped bulb on the end. It is placed in the belly during surgery to drain excess blood and fluids from the surgical area.

  5. Hello my fellow Jewels! So excited! Since I have been so anemic I was afraid that even though I was rescheduled for Jun 21st it would not happen. I just got new blood work back and we are good to go! Three weeks from today baby!

Sending prayers and good wishes for those of you being sleeved tomorrow! Keep us updated!

  6. I kept my carbs low during the losing stage, but now I eat anything i want.

If I go up a couple of lbs,. it's easy to go back to Protein only and it will come off.

I can't many carbs because they are so filling . I do eat soft tacos, and I can eat one slice of pizza, half a sandwich , etc

    :D

    Great to know! Thank you!!

  7. I only did low carb through my losing stage. It's what worked for me. I can say that I counted carbs religiously, and honestly, I didn't have room for anything other Protein. I did not rely on Protein drinks/shakes for my prescribed 60gr per day so getting in my protein from food was essential. I ate 4 meals per day with each meal consisting of a minimum of 15gr of carbs.

In maintenance, I only worry about calories and protein. I eat all carbs as well. I went to panera 2 days ago, and had the chicken cuban panini, ate about half of it minus the ham, and 1/2 of the cup of French Onion Soup. Oh, and I ate about half of the inside of that bread they serve with the soup. Bread is a slider for me at this point so I can eat it without issue.

I eat a super balanced, varied diet in maintenance, and protein only comes first about 85% of the time for me now. I eat my meal by what tastes best, and if that green veggie, or mac-n-cheese or salad tastes better at the moment, I eat that first. I might only get in 2oz of protein for some meals, but other meals are nothing but protein so it evens out.

Thank you Tiffykins! That is exactly what I hope for in my future. I want to have this surgery because I want to live like a normal, healthy person. I can count carbs in the beginning if I need to but want to be a diet free, healthy, balanced, small portion eater for the long term! Sounds like you have achieved this! You are my idol LOL :D

  8. I am having my surgery soon and wondering about long term eating after the surgery. I know that Protein must come first for the rest of our lives but do you guys follow an Atkins like ultra low carb diet? I am hoping to be able to have a more balanced diet with no obvious high sugar and less processed foods. But what about Soup or 1/2 sandwich at a panera for example when out with friends. What about oatmeal for Breakfast even if it is just 1/4 cup with some turkey bacon? Thoughts from those who are living and losing after the sleeve would be appreciated!

  9. I have an Amazing show horse! I have been showing him in driving instead of riding because I have gained so much weight. My expensive show suit will not fit and I feel too heavy to be on his back very often but he can pull lots of weight in the cart with no problem. I want to show him under saddle again and not feel self conscious at the horse shows with all the pretty, thin riders. A 50 pound loss will make this possible for me! I can not wait. Some jaws are going to drop next year when we trot into the ring under saddle again!
