    Is this normal?

I am just three weeks out and still feel a little "unusual" in the port area...like it still is uncomfortable to sleep on my left side. And, when I bend or twist a certain way it still feels weird. I am hoping this is just an adjustment time and that it will feel normal in time. Good luck with your journey.
  2. Hi Rachel:

You are a very wise person. I love your outlook and attitude regarding the band. Thanks for you posts!

    Fiesta Nght

Almost two weeks post-op and sooooo sick of protein shakes, broth, etc. I decided to cook tacos for my family and took some of the ground beef, some black beans with salsa and gave them a whir in my Magic Bullet. Can I just say: DELISH! It was such a nice change of pace. Another exciting thing is that I am totally getting used to listening to my body and stopping eating when I get the full signal. All in all I think I ate about 1/3 cup of my fiesta dinner. I am loving my band and my decision to do it!!!

saw my xray pics of slipped band

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I am with you. The more you know about your body, the easier it is to manage. I am not happy that you had a slip, but something good did come out of it - being able to share with us. Happy journey to you.

    Just need to vent.....

I am so sorry you are struggling so much. I hope that in coming days you will be able to get a jump on your weight loss. I am in the first few weeks of banding and just learning how to listen to my body. One thing I have discovered is that drinking my Water really helps. I have even mistaken being "starved" for being thirsty. I guess I never gave my body enough credit to really tell me what it needs. In the past I would quickly "medicate" myself with food. And, as we all know...that didn't turn out so great. I will be sending "thin thoughts" your way and I hope you will continue to fight for your weight loss! You are worth it!!!

  8. I was just banded on June 17. I feel really good, except I feel like I am starving myself. Is this normal. I am drinking plenty of water and have been drinking about half a serving of Optifast at lunch or dinner. I know I am supposed to still be on clear liquids but I am back to work and feel weak and light-headed if I only have sf jello/water/clear juice, etc. I get some energy just drinking half of the Optifast, but I don't want to overdo anything and ruin my banding....anyone with some insight? Thanks in advance!

    Stuck!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am just one week post-banding, but I rely on others' experiences to help me learn. I am so sorry this happened to you! I will make sure I chew, chew, chew! I don't want to have this happen to me.

    Help! Need to Understand

I just read the last post and when I heard Lipton Cream of Chicken soup, it sounded as good as a steak! LOL! I will have to increase my selection of "liquids" to see what helps me feel less "starved." Thank you all again for your advice!

    Help! Need to Understand

I will give that a try. I think the Optifast is a little thick since I mix it in my Magic Bullet. I think the Isopure would be easier to tolerate. Thanks Sista!!!

    Help! Need to Understand

Great to know! Thanks Cindy. I guess since I am only adding Water to my Optifast (and a few ice cubes) that I am not causing any harm. I will go and buy some chicken/beef broth tomorrow. Thanks again!

    NSV - Shopping

Just wanted to say a quick congrats! I was only banded on 6/17/11, but have already lost enough weight to fit into some tops I previously had been unable to squeeze into. I was smart enough to save my smaller sizes and will be "shopping" through my closet for the next few months I cannot wait until I save some money and go shopping for my 2012 New Year's Eve dress! For so long now, I have just worn whatever fit and looked half-way decent. No more of that! I will be buying that little black dress - and not in a huge size either!!! :bananajump:

    Port Pain

Hey allicap, I actually feel a little more human today Yesterday I felt terrible most of the day, due to port site pain and some gas. Walking is really helping with the gas pain. I forgot to buy the gas x strips, but I think I will manage w/out them. My doctor was so pleased with my procedure he said he wished he could have done five more like mine on the day of my surgery! That made me feel good just knowing there weren't any issues with placing the band. I know this will only get better and better for us. Keep me posted on your progress and let me know what you are drinking these days. I have a hard time feeling like drinking anything. But, I'm sure that will get better as well! Take care!

    Port Pain

Allicap: I am one day post op too. I also have a significant amount of pain in the port area, but since I don't like that medicine head feeling I am opting to only take Tylenol liquid. It does seem to help. Are you getting your liquids in? I am trying, but it's hard. I really don't feel like eating or drinking at all, but I know I have too. Keep me posted!

    Any 30 - 34 BMIs

Mine is a bit higher than yours, but I am barely 5 feet tall. I have struggled with weight since I was about 10 years old. I am excited to have my life change! I am ready!

    "NERVES" - Surgery June 17th!

I'm having surgery on June 17 as well. My nerves are under control, but I am so nervous about the after-surgery nourishment. I guess I just don't want to "screw up" and am very stressed out. One day at a time is what I am telling myself.

    Hello!!!

I have to say that I really enjoy the Optifast! I use my Magic Bullet and add ice cubes and make it like a milkshake and really look forward "mealtime!" I also add a few frozen strawberries (no more than four) and use the vanilla shake. It is delish!

    Hello!!!

Hi and welcome! I am on day 7 of my liquid Optifast diet and it seems to me that after day 4 it becomes somewhat easier. I am able to have four shakes per day and I find I really need all four of them! At times I get so hungry I could chew off my left arm! But, as soon as I have my shake I am able to handle it. I also started to use an idea posted on here about using a posted note to see everyday with the words "I can do ANYTHING for ___ days" and change the number out each day. It really has helped me. Good luck and may you experience a great banding and weight-loss journey!
  20. Best wishes for a smooth surgery and quick recovery! I am being banded on June 17 and am very excited. I have dreamed all my life of being thin and healthy! Yay for us!
  21. Don't give up! You can do this. Some of us out here are in the very same boat with you and feel like giving up. Don't do it! The reality is that this is a very short snapshot in time and the results from this type fo self-restraint are worth way more than any bite of food. Remember that we are worth this fight and our bodies will thank us later!

    Pre op diet day 7....help!

Thank goodness I found this post! I am now on day four and yesterday I thought I was gonna throw in the towel! I felt like crap - tired, irritable and STARVING! I finally realized that maybe I was something called "HUNGRY" and made and drank my Protein drink. I felt a MILLION times better right after I drank it. I agree that we are so used to not listening to our bodies that all of this is new territory for us. I like the idea of putting up a little note with the number of days left for the liquids only. This makes it so much more tangible and reachable. I hope all of my co-pre bandsters find solace in this forum and know that you are not alone. WE CAN DO THIS!!! :woot:

    its time!!

So glad to hear all went well. Best wishes for a very speedy recovery!

    Today I bought a dress

I don't have one, but that sounds like a marvelous idea! I, like others, have a closet full of clothes that are too tight but I would love to wear them. That is my new "wardrobe" that I am excited to begin to wear. I told my BFF that I will be "shopping" like a mad woman - in my own closet!
  25. livingmydream

    Well...that wasn't so bad

Congratulations and best wishes for a healthy life! :welldoneclap:
