Hi All. I had the VSG 03/10/2011 (4 nights ago) (DD/MM/YY for you septics ) The 1st 2 nights were a blur of pain and blind compliance to the nursing staff. Then I thought I was ready to go home (and I wasn't) Released today (Friday) into the care of wife and 4 young kids!!! To think that they offered me another night and I refused............. Haven't weighed yet. Vale Steve Jobs

Yes.. we were sleeved on the same day. I think the reason for the 17lb was that I was allowed nil by mouth days 1 and 2, then ice only day 3 clear liquid day 4 and vitamised Soup day 5. Now, if I can vitamise it enough that I can get it through a straw, it's mine! For me it is beef, lamb, chicken, mash potatoes etc etc unless I feel that I haven't had enough Protein. Then I will have a shake. My next Dr visit is 24th Oct. Up until then I plan to gradually take my foot off the pedal of the vitamiser but I am sure the stuff I am eating still wont be recognisable except by smell. I next plan to weigh in next Mon (Sun afternoon your time) will post it then - I am hoping for another 5-6 lb (2-3kg). I am eating a tiny amount of food though - perhaps 2-3 oz at a time. Some yoghurt in between also. Good luck- let me know how you're going please. Patto

Thanks Monty! How are you doing? Feeling better? I think as I get better at keeping my sugar levels up, it helps my mood also. Are you still as down as before?

Hi I am 1 week out (Surgery was 6pm OCT 3 Australian time) today and am off the pain killers now I have been giving some thought as to the difference b/n lack of hunger and satiety. At the moment I find myself halfway through the tiniest plate of slops and stop b/c it is giving me nothing. There is no discomfort related to hunger at all. I am certainly low on energy related to the lack of calories, but must fight to keep the food intake up (and hence the energy) up to where I don't just want to sleep all day. Meohmy the 1st 2 days are difficult but once the N-G drain tube was out I felt much better. Just write the 1st week off mentally. Do as they tell you and have faith and we'll see you on the other side

I also was sleeved on Monday. I haven't weighed yet because I can't find the scales (and am now glad of that). I feel the 'altered state' of my gut and can't yet call it hunger. Good luck Monty - I will try the the pureed fruit and yoghurt as a meal. Probably not enough Protein in that though ... is there?
