    May Bandsters Update

I was banded on May 31st, and I am down a total of 30 lbs. 12 of that was lost on the pre-op diet. I am feeling great and starting to work out more now so I'm hoping that will help as well! I had my first fill on June 28th and I am feeling restriction somewhat but I dont think I have hit my 'sweet spot' yet.
  4. down 25lbs now...this is the best feeling ever! Half way to 50!!!

  5. I used Optifast for my pre-op diet. It surprisingly doesn't taste too bad. I blended my shakes with ice so they were a little more satisfying. I only had to do it for two weeks, but the first 3 or 4 days were the worst and after that it got a lot better. I know of other people that went to my clinic with a higher BMI than me that had to do it for 3 or 4 weeks. I'm sure it wont be easy but you can do it! It is so worth it!

    Day 3 of Pre-Op... SIGH

Hey, I was banded ont the 31st..the first 4 days of my two week pre op diet were the hardest for me, it does get easier!! For my Protein shakes i blended them with ice so they were thicker and that seemed to really help me...Not sure what you could do to spice up the broth though.. Good luck, you can do it!
  7. I was banded last Tuesday May 31st. I started my pre - op diet on May 17th, and lost 12 lbs, and I weight myself this morning and lost another 6 lbs in the week since I've had surgery, for a total of 18 lbs in 3 weeks! I know I wont lose this much every week, but I am so excited! After 3 weeks I already have clothes that are getting to big! Wow... I never thought I would have the strength to survive the liquid pre-op diet or the surgery for that matter, but I did it, and every day I am feeling better and I just cant wait until I finish healing and can start working out more and eating a bit more normal. This is one of the hardest things I will probably ever do, but so rewarding already!
  8. so happy to be down 18 lbs!!

  15. Hi Everyone, Was I ever happy to find this website! The information from everyone is overwhelming and so encouraging! I have struggled with my weight for many years (as long as I can remember), but have been the heaviest the last 4 1/2 years since I had my son. I have done every diet imaginable. So finally as I sat in my doctors office and cried (one of several times) she gave me information on the lap band, and I knew it was something I had to do. My surgery is scheduled for May 31st in Regina, SK. I begin my pre-op diet on the 17th. I am VERY excited, and of course nervous. But so anxious to get my life back and have energy for my little boy. Would love to hear from you all!! Alyssa

    Hey Everyone!

Yes the first 4 days were the worst..I had terrible headaches and dizziness, NO energy at all. It was rough. But after that it got easier. I have never been able to stick to diets perfectly but i think I was just in the riht frame of mind and didnt want to screw anything up for surgery so i stuck with it. And I'm soooo glad I did! Hey Everyone!

Hello, I am 23 and getting the lapband on the 31st. I am also self pay as my insurance doesn't cover. I have been on the pre-op liquid diet for a week and a half and i'm down 8 lbs. Surgery day is so close! Good luck with everything!
  18. Okay, so I started my pre-op diet on the 17th, and I have done perfect. Not one slip up. I lost 8 lbs in the first 8 days, and now the last two days my weight has stayed the same. And the last two days I have also got about an hour of exercize in while before that I wasn't exercizing. I know I shouldn't be weighing myself everyday anyways, especially BEFORE surgery, but I was just a little frustrated this morning when I didnt see the scale go down. Do you think it just needs a few days to adjust because I have beene exercizing? It's not like im gaining, I just think its impossible not to lose when on this strict liquid diet, and i was loving seeing the pounds come off. I just hope I can learn to not be so obsessed with the scale post surgery because it can be very frustrating sometimes. Any words of advice?
  19. The day before i started my pre-op I had planned to have an extravagant "last meal", however I must have been too excited/anxious for what the following days were going to bring because I could not eat hardly anything! I am on day 9 now of the pre-op diet, and so happy with how I feel already.
  20. I am on day 9 of the pre-op diet..i get banded ont he 31st, and let me tell you I know exactly how you feel. The first 4 days I thought I was going to have a breakdown, I felt dizzy, sick to my stomach, terrible headache, all I wanted to do was lay on the couch and sleep. By about day 7 I was used to it, and when I stepped on the scale and saw that I have lost 9 lbs already in one week, I was ecstatic! I figure if I can make it through 9 days, there is no reason I can't survive 5 more days and then life after surgery. I am SO excited for this. Hope your surgery goes well! I will be in just one day before you. Good luck, we can do it!!

any may 2011 bandsters out there?

I am getting banded on the 31st..hope u are feeling better!
  22. Funny how our brain works! You would give anything for a raw veggie, and I feel like the taste of cottage cheese or yogurt would be heaven!
  23. I am 23 years old, and a single mom to a little boy who turns 5 in September. I have roughly 110 lbs to lose. I am from Saskatchewan. Only my parents and one close friend know I'm getting the surgery, and I would love to have someone to talk to about it who has been through or is going through the same thing as me. I get banded on May 31st in Regina, Saskatchewan. I am very nervous, but have been researching like crazy and am so excited to get a new chance at life, and be able to have energy and enjoy my little boy!! I start my pre-op diet a week from tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing from you! Alyssa
  24. I am on day 3 of my liquid diet...all I can have are the Protein drinks and raw veggies. I am feeling very run down as well, and a killer headache. I went for a walk last night and that seemed to actually make me feel a little better. I have surgery on the 31st. I have been putting ice with my shakes and blending them, and that seems to make them a little more enjoyable. 11 more days! I think the worst of it is over for me
