  1. I HAVE to work out at least (45mins to 1 hour) 4-5 times a week to just maintain my weight. I have learned that "watching" what I eat is not enough alone. I'm almost 6 years out and have maintained my weight since I started working out 3 years ago.

    April 2010 Sleevers!

WOW. The last post was in 2013. I have been everywhere on the scale on my journey. Now being 5 1/2 years out I have learned so much. I really dont believe I have "stretched" my stomach. I have maintained my weight for the past 2 years at 132 (Maintained my weight in 2011-2013 at 125 before I started a serious work out plan including weights, running and bootcamp classes). I work out regularly and try to eat better. I have had 0 issues since my leak the first year out. Wishing all the 2010 sleevers the best.
  3. I had my surgery in 2010 (235 lbs 4'11") Today I weigh in at 134. I was at 120 for years but over the last 18 months I work out with weights, do bootcamp classes & try to get running in also. I exercise at least 3-5 days a week. My muscle has definitely increased. All weight gain isn't a failure or negative. I feel my overall body looks & is much better than that super skinny one it once was. Best of luck to everyone, it is a constant battle and fight. Don't give up.
  4. ALMOST 5 YEARS OUT!! Long story short. Sleeved April 2010 went from 230s to 108 at my lowest. Stayed steady from year 2-3. After 3 years out stayed steady at 118 for another year. Now year 4-5 I am 128. Now take into account I workout at least 4-5 days a week including weight training & running 7-10 miles a week. I do believe some of the weight gain is muscle. I went from a 0/2 to a 6/8 now. I used to drop pounds just breathing. Now I have to work really hard. Bottom line eating better & working out is the only key. I vowed to never return to my previous weight. Ever. Stay strong everyone!! Btw: I am 4'11 & 37 years old. With 2 children. I also wanted to add that the number on the scale isn't what I fully look at. Yes I may have been 108 lbs at one point but I looked like skin hanging on bones. Now I am happy looking healthy & strong. I have worked through many aches & pains working out & running. From ankles, knees & hips.
  5. I was sleeved 4/28/10. I fall in the 1-5 range. I will say it used to be faster to get it off but it is obtainable

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hello! Another year has passed! (Sleeved 4/2010) Doing great. Maintained my weight at 110-115. BMI 22.5. I can eat just about anything, but try not to. Kept my promise of no sodas or sugar drinks. I do believe I can eat much more than I could the first year out. It is NO WHERE near what I could Pre-surgery. I have no fears I could ever go back to that. Hope everyone is doing great! Surgery: 4/2010 34 Years Old / 4'11" Doc: Dr. S. Ganta - Austin, Tx Pre Weight: 207/ Sz 18 Current Weight: 110-115 / Sz 2/4

    Nausea HELP

hi ladies, I was wondering if you have had any relief with the nausea? Sad to say I'm starting week 9 and no relief or me. Still struggling through it. Any new info? I battled a kidney stone last week and I'm trying to get back on track. Thanks

    Nausea HELP

you guys are not alone. I am also 6 weeks out and have been suffering from the vomiting/nausea since week 2. My surgeon says it is probably scar tissue in the stomach and is at it's toughest around 6 weeks. I am also trying to look at the brighter side. It has been horrible and I have been in bed for weeks. I know I need protein but some days I can hardly eat or drink anything. Hang in there, that's all we can do and hope later we will reflect and say that was just a short time we suffered to get to the goal!

    April 2010 Sleevers!

hello everyone! I am really glad that everyone is doing well. I on the other hand has not had an easy time. I have been suffering from mucus buildup, gagging, vomiting (never food or liquids) and extreme fatigue. I have seen my surgeon many times and he is monitoring my progress. I was hospitalized for dehydration around 3 weeks ago but that was a godsend and it helped me so much. I am still having trrouble with Protein since everything smells and tastes gross. I am really crossing my fingers that this is the peak of my problems and I will start to feel better. On the positive side I am down about 37 pounds and about 1/2 way to goal! good luck everyone and if anyone has suffered what I am experiencing or advise please let me know...take care!
  13. hello, I had my surgery almost 5 weeks ago and have been suffering from morning mucus/sticky foam buildup in my throat everyday. It has become a routine similar to morning sickness, that's all I can compare it to. I am wondering if anyone else suffers or suffered from this? It continues through the day where I am forced to spit it out constantly. I have never sufered from allergies and thought I should attempt an alevert dissolvable pill to see if it helps? This is driving me insane. Please any suggestions?
  14. Thanks for all the feedback. I did get sent home with a spirometer and used it the first few days. I was on prilosec for about 3 days and that's when the tightening started. Since I have quit the prilosec the tightening has subsided. I don't know if it was a reaction to the drug or not. I am still short of breath when I get up and move around too much (usually around 5 mins or so). I did think about anxiety. I do think that along with stress plays a huge part in what I am going though. I have never had a major surgery with recovery that did not include a new baby to take care of :sad0: I am nervous that this is the outcome of the rest of my life being weak and unavailable. I know everyone has had a moment or so but you do feel helpless to your family. I am still dealing with this was just for me and everyone will be okay without me for a few weeks. Thanks again for all the feedback, it is greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi, I am 12 days post-op and since day 7 I have had shortness of breath, tightening in my chest, and rapid heart rate. I have been in contact with my doctor and he is only concerned with my calorie intake and hydration. He did order bloodwork and that came back normal. I have improved my liquids to and am now getting at least 50 ozs a day. I push for 60 but am getting there. I am having the hardest time with Protein shakes and liquids. They make me gag and I don't want to start vomiting. I did have low blood pressure when I went in for my last visit. anyone experience this after surgery and any suggestions?? I just want to have enough energy to get through my day and function normally... thanks,
