    Dallas, Houston, San Antonio Docs??

Hi Quarterhorse! Thanks for the info. A co-worker and I are trying to do heavy research on sleeve surgery and I wanted to let you know that (and maybe you already know this) Dr. Veninga has done many other procedures but only about 15 sleeve procedures. Or at least this is what his office told us over the phone. Like you I will be a cash pay as well. I have my consult with Dr. Ganta in Austin on 1/14. Hope this helps and good luck on your research!!
  2. Hello. I am really new to this site and by the way it is fantastic. I am in the "one million & one questions" phase of research before having gastric sleeve surgery. I wanted to ask: When around strangers or friends of friends at a function how do you expain (if asked) about your eating habits. My husband and I were invited to a BBQ this past weekend and I have been asking myself how would situations be different after the sleeve. So if I went with my husband to a function how do you serve yourself and then explain why you are eating 5 bites?? I don't want to come off to others as if I don't like their food or it seem rude. I know this should be the least of my concerns but I wouldn't want that to reflect on my husband or family. Has anyone come across situations like this? Thank you!:biggrin0:

Great question I was wondering the same thing...do all docs do this?

    What do I say??!?

Thank you Ladies!! I love all the responses and see it in a new light. Since I have decided that I am going to keep my decision private (may change after surgery and scream it from the mountain tops ) I will take each situation as it comes. I do agree with you about still being heavy and people looking at you like "come on we know this girl likes to eat" Hopefully that time period will fly by so fast I can look back at myself and see how silly I was for fussing over it. Thanks again you guys rock.
  5. Being a "pre-sleever" I had a concern. I am 32 years old and have had reoccuring UTI/Kidney Infections since I was about 7 years old. I have read about UTI's after gastric sleeve. I did speak to my PCP and he said because of the rapid weight loss and toxins completely leaving your system anyone is at more risk for UTI's. Once my weight is stable it should subside if there is a problem. I was wondering if anyone experienced this problem? I know hydration is the key but has anyone used supplements like cranberry tablets? Thanks for your feedback!:biggrin0:
  6. Congrats! you are an inspiration!!
  7. I just read this...ha and I sent you a text. I am I plan on it before the consult appointment. I can't read my inbox from my cell so if it takes me a bit to respond I'll get around to it. I did see your pix...u go girl. It finally seems 'real'.

    Is anybody sorry?

Wow ladies you give me so much encouragement! I am hoping to be sleeved in early 2010. I just want to thank you for making this decision much easier for me.

    Sleeve 99.9% sure.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I am 4'11' and a little under 200 lbs. I have two young daughters (12 & 6) that I want to set a healthy example for. I am glad to hear your health issues are very similar to mine. I have had no problems that I know of BUT really don't want to develop any. The joint pain is there for me. I want to be done with food and enjoy my 30's. I am scheduled to see Dr. Ganta in Austin, TX and he does have a nutrition & support team. It is great to hear that you have found other ways to fulfill the need for food! Your success gives me great encouragement to go forward and put my mind at ease. Even though the consultation is a month away I cannot sleep because my mind won't let me. Thanks for all the support!!!
  10. :crying: I was hoping to get some honest feedback about sleeve surgery. I am 99.9% sure this option is for me. I am scheduled for my complete consultation in January. I wanted to know if anyone regrets (even a little) making this decision. I do not have medical issues...YET and am in my early 30's. I fear a food addiction will turn into other addictions if food is not an option. Thanks for your help :crying:
