  1. I tried multiple times to opt out but the keep coming. I don't want to mark the email as spam, please remove me! Thanks! Ps the surgery worked great for me!
  2. Thanks for your response! Sorry about the spam. I think it's only spam if I'm trying to sell you something! But I get what you're saying. So here's an attempt to elevate this threads value above spam: It's been 13 months since I had the surgery. Lost 115 lbs since. Everyone asks "how did you do it?". At first I avoided the answer, but now I say, "I took extreme measures" if they press I tell them. With one curious friend I had to draw a diagram . I don't have any reflux issues, but I still have to take some pills to keep it at bay. For the last 3 months my weight is holding. I do want to lose another 30 lbs, but suddenly it's super difficult to lose weight. I know I have to exercise more to do that. I'm a vegetarian so it is a pain to manage Protein and carbs. I try to drink at least 1 New whey protein a day. Also I eat a lot of TVP (I soak it in tomato sauce). Thank god for tvp! Btw I do not advocate vegetarianism, it's a pain in the neck to try to avoid carbs and get enough protein. I guess that's it. Thanks again for the reply and in that pretty font. Of course I know you replied because it came via email!
  3. For me, I am thrilled to be close to twonder land!
  4. Know in your heart, it gets better and better every day. Follow the guidelines your doctor gave you about eating, strictly. Remember if you can get past this phase, it gets way easier, and every day when you step on the scale you will be happy you did what you did.
  5. Welcome Dominic I haven't been around too long but it seems like there are a lot less guys than gals here. Not something I mind, just something I observed. Good luck with your pending surgery and thanks for doing what you do for all of us!
  6. Any pre or post op people in the San Francisco Bay Area? It occurs to me I have never actually spoken to anyone who had this surgery.
  7. Try Snowboaring with my daughter Actually buy a wet suit, and wear it in public and go surfing Fly across the country and demand a middle seat, preferably between two fat people Try to run regularly Play Badminton (I love badminton) Learn to sail work on a 6pack (you know what I mean) Try Kite Sailing Try scuba diving (since I'll own a wet suit already) Wear shirts with thick horizontal stripes Shave my beard (which I had for 30 years) Go to the gym and take showers and be NUDE in the locker room Join a softball team play basketball Dance (well... maybe not dance but go where people dance) Take my shirt off at the beach Go swimming at a public pool (with a spedo!!) Pick up coins when I drop them Throw my cpap machine in the ocean Buy a small car, or just rent one to see how it feels getting in and out of Try indoor rock climbing ride a bike, and sit on that.... seat Give the middle finger to the guys at Rochester big and tall, (they are nice but damn expensive) Try to help out other fat guys, somehow What about you?
  8. Why am I investing 17 thousand dollars and risking complications with my health and am willing to endure the physical and mental pain? Because I NEED to lose 100lbs But do I really need surgery to do that? My dad says no. He says "you can do it." But I can't! Can't? or am I not willing to? I always like what Colin Powel said "Overwhelm the problem with solution." I am going to overwhelm the problem with vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery. But honestly is that a cop out? Maybe all it is is something that pushes me to the point of no return. It will be harder to fall off the wagon with a stomach thats 10% of its original size. And, I'd surgically remove procrastination. No going back. But honestly, if a strange man knocked on my door with a contract that stated if I lose 100 lbs in 1 year without WLS, i would get a wire transfer of 100 million dollars into my bank account (tax pre paid). Would I NEED the surgery then? Would you?

Hi, I'm not gay but I'm a vegetarian!!!
  13. 17,500 here in San Francisco, where EVERYTHING is arbitrarily expensive. The surgeon fee is 10,000, hospital is 6500, and anesthesia is 1000. I asked if I could opt out of the anesthesia, no go. :/ I'm shooting for 2/10 if I could raise the cash. I was 100% sure this is what I wanted until last night when I read that post about the catheter... no one ever mentioned that before. My resolve has since returned. Phew!

    Hi!

Hi people, i've been lurking for a while as i consider my options. I'm pre-pre-op so not much to say yet except thank you for all your posts. They have given me (and probably a lot of people) great insights and a lot to consider.
