What kind of peanut butter did you use?

For those of you who have already had the procedure done, I realize that it is going to be a life style change but sometimes life does get in the way and you have to eat out. Not to mention, going to a restaurant is something that my husband and kids enjoy doing as a family. So with that being said, how do you handle that? What do you normally look for when ordering? Or how about when the kids want to go to McDonald's for supper or lunch, how do you handle that?

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have not been shopping for myself in a LONG time. It is just too depressing. This too we shall overcome and then it is going to be a fight to keep us out of the stores because we are going to be shopping so much!!! I am ready for my sleeve (12/14/10) and I know that it is the best decision/gift that I can give myself. Best wishes to you!!

I too, also wondered how I was going to handle the holidays, mainly Christmas and New Years. For Christmas what I have planned is to be the one who is going to make sure that all the kids are fed. Being that I will be just moving to the second phase of liquids, I am going to just busy myself with them. I don't think that anyone will notice. And then for Christmas Eve, we always have gumbo, so I could always just have the juice from the gumbo. Now for New Years day, again, I am going to busy myself with the kids. By then I will be well into "mushies" and I would hope that i would be able to at least have some black eye peas (please correct me if I am wrong) and possible some sweet potatoes that are from a casserole? Breakfast will no be a problem, as I hardly eat with my IL's for breakfast anyway and I can always use my shakes as my breakfast. For supper, I will still be full from my "big" lunch and possible just get by with another shake.

I completely agree with what you said. Change is something that is hard for all of us (I know for myself.) but is something that I know that I have to do. There is no choice for me, I want to feel better about myself, I want to not have my knees ache when I climb the stairs and I want a better me. I think that any weight loss journey is hard but I am determined and dedicated and I will over come this.

Once you have done your surgery, is someone tracking your weight with you or are you completely doing it at home on your own? How often do you weigh if you are tracking it at home?

This past weekend, my husband and I were walking in New Orleans when we came up on an Italian boutique that had this gorgeous black dress in the window. My husband stopped to admire it and told me that once I have my surgery and lose my weight, he wanted to get me something like that dress to show off my new figure. While we were walking back to the hotel, I started to think, I have A LOT of weight to lose and will I do it with this surgery? I know that from past experiences, that it takes a while for you to see yourself skinny once you have lost weight. So my question is this, when looking at your self in the mirror (after surgery) how do you keep from seeing yourself as still being heavy? At what point does it click that you are no longer that person who was 80 lbs overweight?
