    Insurance question

My insurance says NO coverage for weight loss surgery, except in the case of morbid obesity............morbid obesity is >40 bmi, or >35 bmi with one or more comorbidity like sleep apnea, hypertension, etc. It is a journey towards weight loss surgery, a marathon, not a sprint. I too, prefer a sprint..................but am finding it is truly a journey.

    Sleep Study

ABSOLUTELY! It's a comobidity to obesity........this gives you one more reason to have the surgery. Whether they wait until you can prove you are compliant with the cpap or bipap is another story that I cannot predict. Look at cpaptalk.com for support and advice! I've dealt with sleep apnea successfully for years.......

    I finally told my Mom!

I am very serious and certain about my decision, but I haven't told anyone but my children......and really don't intend to. I have heard the nasty remarks made about others at work who have had lapband, with people watching every bite they eat and criticizing their food choices........and I'm not up for that. My family--while we are close--would be much the same. Besides my own siblings--all brothers, my Mom is from a large family of mostly sisters. If one knows something, they all know. I don't wish to the topic of conversation for the years to come. It's sad--but I don't need that. I may rethink this decision about who I will tell, when I get closer to the surgery date--but I doubt it.
  4. Stay on your back during the sleep study..............much sleep apnea is positional.
