TO THE LADIES THAT HAD A HYSTERECTOMY
nayttap replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a vaginal hysterectomy leaving ovaries intact many years ago. At two weeks, you're still healing. The pain could be because you are ovulating or from adhesions plus mostly likely healing...........but I doubt that it's lap band related in any case. You are doing a lot at two weeks, and that very well could be the cause. I felt fine sitting around the house, went back to work at 2 weeks, and passed out cold shortly after walking in...........Relax and Heal and don't worry! -
Adding flavor to my shakes
nayttap replied to kittyforet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made the salad posted by 54Shirley in this thread with lime Jello.........loved it! Very simple mushy food and Protein food... Ingredients: 1 large container cottage cheese 8oz. cool whip 1 small pack of strawberry jello (NO WATER) 1 can (DRAINED) crushed pineapple Put jello in a large mixing Bowl, add cool whip, and stir until well blended, blend it the cottage cheese, then add the drained crushed pineapple. Mix well, refrigerate overnight. thanks 54Shirley! -
That's a new twist I've never heard..............sounds ridiculous. Every study I've ever read utilizes standardized data such as the BMI, co-morbidities, and even just 80-100# overweight. Keep us all informed how you get this overturned or move beyond it.......... Good Luck.

I was reading some professional studies earlier today, researching before my own surgery. I believe that I read that approximately 1/2 of those bands that have slipped, can be coaxed back into place by removing the fluid and allowing the swelling to subside......the other half require some kind of surgical intervention.

Post op vomiting, lots of mucous and foam
nayttap replied to jerzygrl74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What kind of revision was done? This sounds awful. You will be in my thoughts and prayers...........while I watch for an update. -
Relax............you've had a lot of stress and drugs in your system. Breathe, walk, sip lots should be the things on your schedule right now and the energy will come. Be good to yourself. It's a little early to push too hard yet!

Yea!!! I was approved!!!!....or at least I think I was...
nayttap replied to 14isabella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you're getting a date..........the first day in a new beginning! Congrats! -
This should be a time for healing.............for your stomach to lay low, not be actively processing food, and just healing. This is a time where patience is of particular importance..............following your doctors guidelines are the best things to do right now........ I suspect you know that or you wouldn't be asking for support to do otherwise............

Thinking about cheating on Sunday
nayttap replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From NJGirl32: I am thinking of having 2 beers and some BBQ food. I know there will come a day were I will get stuck or need a PB -but those days are nowhere in sight for a while. Would it be really sucky of me to enjoy the day with a beer and BBQ...yeah I know I can enjoy people's company and the festivities, blah, blah, blah...but really! Any thoughts?" Why do the thoughts of others have any impact on your decision? You must know what's best for you, and what you can live with.......... Why did you have the band? -
Congratulations! Are you cash pay, extremely lucky, or moving at the speed of sound to jump the hoops so quickly?

addicted to ice cream!
nayttap replied to purple3797's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band is a tool, not magic. You know what is right vs what you've chosen........ice cream. If the chicken doesn't work, try other satisfying Proteins or a tiny bit of moisture in the chicken with vegetables or a fruit......just not fats that melt through the stoma. If that doesn't work, check in with your physician's office to make an adjustment. Consider also joining a support group, or heading back to the psychologist to work through issues. It's crazy to think you'd be thinner, if you're not working with the band. This only adds stress to your life. Exercise will also help with the stress and the weight. -
BMI of 34.1, TRICARE STANDARD, MEM MED IN SAV WON'T SEE ME
nayttap replied to faithwade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this place a "Center of Excellence"? In any case, I would think that a personal letter outlining your situation, marked "personal & confidential" sent to the lead surgeon or clinic manager might be in order as you move on to a facility you can work with and trust. -

nayttap replied to faithwade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reality is that insurance guidelines are pretty tough.....I'm not saying that you don't have a chance, but it will be a fight. You have many things in your favor with your PCP on your side, the unfortunate comorbidities etc. Nonetheless, the receptionist should not treat you as she has.........I would call the clinic manager for starters. If this clinic isn't going to work with you, you might need to find another who will. -
still not sure if I should do it....
nayttap replied to socalleddi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are desperate to eat all of the time now, what behaviors are you going to start towards being successful with the band, and when are you going to start???? Your future eating habits are your new normal........ Unless you either aren't expressing your reality in this post, or are really feeling this way continually, I too would worry. While getting a surgery date is so exciting, are you truly ready???? I'm sorry this is so bottom line.........but I too have wrestled with these questions in making my own decision. They gave me the motivation to commit to change. -
It's so nice to hear good news! Congrats. Members are so quick to post problems and concerns, that it's great to see even the simpliest ray of sunshine!

Anyone do the Pre-Op diet for more than two weeks?
nayttap replied to SEACHELLE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Several years ago I did Optifast very successfully for 9 months. Honestly after the first few days, I did not find it a problem. I did enjoy the chicken Soup at lunch every day with a little extra boullion, and 2-4 saltine crackers. I think the crackers where the extent of my cheating. I think I had shakes the other 5 times per day. Are you having 6 meals of Optifast every day? I can see where just three would make one nuts, as well as deficient.. -
Will u throw out your "big" clothes
nayttap replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine will be donated to someone who needs them more than I do..........enough of having an entire wardrobe of multiple sizes. It's a part of my plan for ongoing success! -
Insurance companies only approve or deny what is asked for given the documentation supplied........they do not make suggestions, etc for other procedures. That is a decision between you and your doctor.

I also spell grey, colour, favour, neighbour, whereas you guys would say gray, color, favor, neighbor.

I've only been lurking here a few weeks, but was starting to think that lapbands either made you lazy about communicating or stupid.. It is hard to read some of the posts on this site...... Many posts go far beyond text messaging shortcuts, etc.

Newbie and Scared to death!
nayttap replied to fat-fab-fourty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
40 is hardly old..........and we're all overweight if we're having lap-band surgery. You can learn about the process here, in an informational session with your doc, at other websites, by reading Jean's book "on the bandwagon"(http://jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com/), and other hospitals in your area that have a bariatric surgery center. It is a decision that you need to research, compare options, and decide for yourself. The band is only a tool.........it's not magic. Without your complete involvement, weight loss can also fail with the band................but with your involvement, it can succeed beyond wildest dreams. So specifically what are you scared about that others can help with? Name your fears, and start working through them if this is an option you want to investigate. -
Been denied for weight loss
nayttap replied to LauraRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Insurance companies go by the beginning weight.........you will not be denied for losing weight during the supervised months. -

Are you sure that it's not 50% of your ideal body weight--not current weight? I've never heard such a high number for protein grams/day.

Will you share the recipe?
