Here in Mexico with Dr. Kelly
DonnaG replied to sadie_mo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used one of Sandy's associates and found her to be very helpful. Trish will work with you no matter who you use to set everything up, she works for Dr. Kelly. I met Sadie while I was there, I had surgery the day before she did. I saw Trish a few times a day and she was there when I had my leak test. She shopped for me and my sister because we didn't want to get out. I have no complaints about her or Dr Kelly. He did have the emergency and had to fly out but was due back on Sunday. He called me on his son, Sam's phone on the way to the leak test. My first impression of Sam was the same as Sadie's but I learned it is because he does not speak or understand much English at all. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights and at the hotel 1. I felt good enough to go back to San Diego on Saturday but Dr. Kelly asked me to stay at least one night at hotel just in case. You will be happy with Dr Kelly. My first suggestion is to ask Ricardo (the driver) to stop at Walmart to buy a foam mattress pad before you get to the hospital, you will need it. My bed was like a bag of rocks. Take a robe or some pajama bottoms you will need them. Dr. Kelly does not use narcotics but can get them if you insist. I didn't need any pain medication but I can say that I really wish I had had some phenegran with me for the nausea. Take a small pillow to hold against your stomach in case of sneeze or cough and I used it on the plane home. Wear slip on shoes back to airport, bending over to tie your shoes is not comfortable. Anything else you want to know about my experience, please PM me. -

I am 5 days post op, my surgery was on Thursday. Had you asked was it worth in on Friday I probably would have told you no because I had such a bad reaction to the anethesia (normal for me). Today, it is the best thing I've done for myself in a very long time. My family knows I had surgery and only 2 people at work. I have not decided how or when to tell the rest of them. This was something I did to save the rest of my life. I am 52 and have high blood pressure and cholesterol and if I didn't do something to help myself lose weight I was not going to be around long enough to ever see grandchildren. If you already have your bridesmaids dress, you might want to make sure that you try it on at least a week before the wedding just in case. I've lost 9 lbs since my surgery and it's only been 5 days. Your fastest weightloss will be in the beginning. Good luck on your journey, your daughter will thank you some day for sticking around for her. -

Hi everyone, I am the sister that Terri has been talking about. I just want to let you guys know that the communication issue we had was that when I asked what medications they were administering all they would tell me is antibiotic or acid medicine or nausea. What I wanted to know is the name of the medication. I have huge issues with antibiotics and most of them I receive in the states I have an adverse reaction to. So I was trying to find out what they were giving and they couldn't tell me. My experience at the hospital was not a bad one except for the quality of the bed and the lack of knowledge of medication names. I did ask Trish to buy me a foam mattress topper which she gladly did. It was on my bed and ready for me when I got out of surgery. It made a huge difference. I suggest you give her some money and ask her to do the same, you will rest much more comfortably. Once I figured out it was the meds making me vomit, I told the nurse and she slowed down the drip and it subsided almost completely. I still threw up even at the Lucerna. Certain smells would set it off and we were standing right near the restaurant and that made me sick. I had also just finished the last dose of antibiotic. My overall experience was not too bad. I am not sorry I did this surgery the way I did it. I am happy with my sleeve. I love Dr. Kelly and Trish. And Dr. Kelly's son, Sam is amazing as well. I do not know how Trish juggles everything she does for everyone. The woman is non-stop and never thinks about herself. And since my pre-op diet 7 days before surgery, I am down 15.7 lbs. Donna -
wow, I'm super excited about the 17th (my surgery day). However, I am not excited about the laxative tonight and these next 3 days of Clear liquids. I have been starving my way through the full liquids. Thank Campbell Soups for cream of potatoe Soup. slap that stuff in the Ninja and I was good to go. Of course, I didn't discover this until 3 days ago. Live and learn. So if anyone has any really good suggestions for clear liquids I am all ears. I get hypoglycemic very easily and need the Protein. And those protein shots are super sweet.

dI think its the no carbs that is causing my problems...headache, fuzzy thinking and super sleepy. Drinking liquids only and they go right through I never seem to be satisfied. My stomach growls constantly even my co-workers talk about hearing it. I'M HUNGRY!!!!!!! -
I met with Dr. Hoehn's partner, Dr. Kowalski, on Thursday. I really like him. He is real personable and tells it like it is and that's important to me. However, I've decided to go the Mexico route.

IS IT SAFE IN JUATEZ,MEX SCHEDULED 4/26
DonnaG replied to kisses1000us's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are right in having your fears of traveling to Juarez. There are no guarantees and the doctor or hospital will not guarantee your safety. I considered it very seriously because of the savings but in my head I couldn't get past the news reports. I've heard amazing things about Dr. Kelly in Tijuana. You could give him some research. His cost was $5,300 when I checked into using him. -
I'm anxious to see answers to this question. I am also self pay. I attended the seminar and have my appointment with the surgeon on Thursday afternoon. I heard the same thing at the seminar that self pay can get through the process more quickly. I should get a surgery date on thursday so I will let you know. Please update also

Very embarrassing question....

Check the ingredients on the shakes. If one of the ingredients is Sorbitol or one of the other sugar alcohols that could be your culprit. Sorbitol was originally developed to be used as a laxative when they discovered it was a great sweetener -
Well mine is a virgin. I have been very happy with him and his office staff so far but I am very very early in the process
