  1. Hello Everyone! It's crazy that it's been 5.5 years since I was sleeved. It was the best decision I ever made. But, it's still hard! The last few months I have put back on some pounds. I'm determined to get them off and keep them off! It seemed like it was right at about the 3 year mark, that weight started to come back on really easy, and it's been a struggle since. I hadn't been on the forum here forever, so I thought I would get back on for some inspiration. Below is a before pic, and I couple of recent pics. Starting Weight: 320 Lowest Weight since: 195 Current Weight: 213

    Going #2

I completely understand! Now it seems like I only have to go about once a week. But when I do, its a doozy! I clog up the toilet about every time. I think I'm going to start experimenting with some stool softeners and hopefully stay a little more regular.
  3. I hear ya man! I was sleeved in May and have lost 105 pounds. I wish I would have seen warning like this on loose skin before hand. It's still been a great process.....but this part has been disapointing. I too have been working out a lot and my arms aren't too bad....but my stomach is horrible. Lately I've been wearing a compression shirt (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MESREU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It doesn't help when I want to take my shirt off at the beach. But the rest of the times it makes me feel so much more firm. It keeps my stomach skin from hanging there and flapping around.

  5. It was just a year ago I first heard about the sleeve. I hit the grounds running and flew through all the hoops to make it happen. I was sleeved on May 3rd, and now I have hit my goal of losing 100 pounds! It has been a great journey!

    Sleeve weight loss times?

I just reached my goal of losing 100 pounds (started at 300). I'm a 28 year old male, and it took me 9 months. The first 3 months I about 50, in the next 3 months about 35, and then it took another 3 months to get the last 15 off. Good luck!
  7. Thanks Everybody! I know that seeing people's sucess pics was such good motivatin for me. For those of you who are in the middle of it, keep it up....it's worth it!

    Catheter?

I had one when I was sleaved. No, it's not fun, but it's bearable. I was in enough pain from the surgery, that having a catheter wasn't my biggest concern. So you'll be just fine!

    Im so thirsty !

Hang in there! It does get better. I am 10 weeks out, and can chug over half a glass of water, then 5 minutes later I finish off the other half. Just make sure that you're constantly sipping whenever you're awake.
  10. Hello! I just got my sleeve on Friday (5/3/13) so I'm only 4 days out. Overall I feel pretty well. Very little pain (I am still taking a little of my vicodin). But, my biggest surprise is how hungry I am now. I would have thought that my stomach would still be so small and swallen that I wouldn't be hungry. The last couple of days I've been having 3 protien shakes a day, Jello, chicken broth, and lots of Water. Last night in bed my stomach wouldn't stop growling. It felt like it would have felt if I was starving myself and hadn't had the surgery. I know that it is not just psychological desire for food, because like I said my stomach is actually growling. Is anybody else experience this much hunger so soon?
  11. Vixynne, you are right! liquid is in ounces and protein in grams. In my post I accidentally wrote ounces for both.
  12. You should be getting in 60 ounces of Water a day along with 60 ounces of Protein. Since you are still on Protein shakes, it's easy to judge that since you know how much is in each one. Just always remember to be sipping on one or the other anytime you are awake! I'm 8 weeks out and I never count calories. I've lost 70 pounds, and I don't see the point of counting everything when I am still losing well. If I eat my meat first, then some veggies I know I'm good. As I recall, I started to feel a lot better on day 4, so I hope you do too! Good luck!
  13. Hello Sue! I can't help you there....I haven't had any acid reflux. I am about 8 weeks out, so I'm hoping that it just won't be a problem for me. If you look around on the forum there are probably some discussions, or you could start a new thread. Good luck!

Dating and letting them know you had surgery

I don't think I would try to keep it a secret. Obviously we don't need to tell our dates about our entire medical history, but this is something that does effect our daily interactions with them. It effects how much we can eat and what we can eat. If we have to keep secrets like that from the person we are dating, it's probably not going to be a healthy relationship. And...why are there all of these woman posting in the Man Room?

    Nebraska Sleevers...

Jansleeve1, I had my surgery in North Platte. I had a great experience. You should request Dr. Siep. He's the best!
  16. You're not supposed to drink any carbonated drinks, even if they don't have sugar. It's because your stomach will be too small to handle the bubbles. But, I think that most people start drinking some eventually. Just be careful!
  17. Like all of the posters have said, everybody is different. A lot of people take several weeks off, but people with desk jobs often go back to work in a week. But, even though you can do your job, it takes a while to get all of your energy back. I am almost 6 weeks out, and I still don't have all of my energy. So, starting back to 2 jobs might be hard. I would start back to the desk job, then maybe give the hostess job an extra week.
  18. That sounds normal. Especially with soft things like oatmeal....they slide right through. You'll start feeling more restriction when you move from less soft food to to more solids. Quantity doesn't matter as much as overall calories and carbs.
  19. It's a good thing that I don't live near a Krispy Kreme! It's okay, we all make mistakes. I just had an incident involving frosting the other day. We just have to move on!

    Nebraska Sleevers...

Hello Sandy! Its good to see another Nebraskan on here. How are doing so far?
  21. Today my scale showed that I have lost 51 pounds, which is over half way to my goal of 100! Woo Hoo!! I'll be five weeks post op on Friday. I hope the second half comes off as quickly as the first!

    Stomach leak

I've always been told that leaks happen to less than 1%. My surgeon has done a few hundred and never had a leak.
  23. bradycone

    Trying to stay positive

I had that happen! At two weeks post op I hit a stall, and I gained 5 pounds in 5 days. I was so frustrated! But, here is the way it was explained to me: Right after the surgery your body starts to burn glycogen that is stored in your muscles. After a couple of weeks your muscles start to rebuild their glycogen supply. With the glycogen it has to store Water. All of that extra water it stores leads to weight gain. But, while it's doing that, your body is still burning fat! Don't worry, you'll get through it and the pounds will start coming off!

    Appointments

I'm just curious as why you all have to have stuff like sleep studies, EKGs, etc? Is the surgeon ordering it as a precaution to make sure you're healthy, or does your insurance require it? None of those tests were even mentioned to me before my surgery.

    Appointments

That's great! I was lucky and didn't have very many. The only appointments I had were one with the surgeon, 2 with the NUT, and I had to go to the informational seminar. But, it sounds like a lot of people have it a lot worse!
