My surgery was October 27th, 2010. I weighed 241 on day of surgery. Today I weigh 195. My surgeon says I am doing better than the average. So I think you are doing fine. Everyone loses differently, but we seem to be hanging together.

Which Calcium Citrate?
amylouwho replied to 6kiddos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I most definitely recommend Caltrate Chewables in berry flavor, I just bought a bottle at Kroger, it is 600 mg plus Vitamin D. 90 tablets were $6.99, They taste like smarties candy. Should be available most anywhere. -
Welcome! Best of Luck to you on Thursday. ~Amy

Hi Nina, I also had my surgery on Wednesday, 10/27. I am feeling pretty good, but I have been experiencing those back pains like you described, as well as a pain in my upper right collar bone. The back pains are most likely gas and are relieved by moving around. Heat also helps. My pain in the collar bone is due to having a hiatal hernia repaired. So far, I am doing pretty well with my fluids. But I just today attempted to try a Protein shake.(Not sure I am going to finish it ). My doctor told me that staying hydrated was much more important than the protein. So far I have managed my fluids and all my Vitamins. So tomorrow, I am going to try and add in a walk around the block, to help get the rest of that gas out. Once I can get this walking thing worked out, then I will focus on Protein shakes, Good Luck!

I am from Kentucky, but had my surgery in Tennessee. They actually had me put one of those Patches behind my ear, before I went into surgery. I am 5 days post op and have yet to have any nausea at all. So I would definitely aske about getting a patch.

I agree with Tiffykins!~ Breathe!!! It is okay. Surgery is definitely NOT a walk in the park, but you will be fine. Just think, after tomorrow, you can join us on the losers side. Hmm! Never thought I would enjoy being a LOSER -
I am home and actually not feeling too terrible. My surgery was Wednesday, I had to be at the hospital at 530 am and my surgery began between 8 and 9. I fasted on liquids only, for 10 days prior, so I was terribly shocked to learn that my surgeon nicked my liver and my bowel with the tro-car thingy. So I had both of those repaired, my VSG, and a hiatal hernia, also repaired(I had no idea that it existed.) I was in a bit of pain that night and I agree with mysparky that it feels like I have been beaten in the ribs!!!! I have been very fortunate that there hasn't been any nausea or vomiting. Right now, I am just very happy to be home. I will post a more thorough post lately, because I have been up sitting at this computer for too long now and need to go get in some more fluids!

If you look at Wal Mart, K Mart, or some of those big box stores, you may be able to find a little kit with a ring guard. Or use this link. http://www.viewithere.com/ring_guard/

I will be sleeved on Wednesday 10/27. I hope all has gone well for you all. Please post and tell us how things are going. Thanks -
Tonight I had what my husband called "My Last Supper". Tomorrow it will be 10 days before my surgery. At this point, I am not sure what my emotions are! I don't feel excited, nervous, or scared about the sleeve, but I do feel worried about this 10 day liquid pre op diet. Since I made the decision to have surgery, I seem to have lost some interest in eating. Today I have eaten very little, until dinner. My husband, however, has been mourning the loss of food. It seems he is eating everything in sight!!! I have decided on some projects (making my son a halloween costume) to keep me occupied and keep my mind off food. Any one have any other suggestions for passing this time??? Also, need suggestions for convincing my husband that he is not going to starve!!!!
