"onederland" is when your weight is below the 200's! It is generally a huge milestone for everyone here. Many people post when they hit this

    Body Shape Changes

I haven't changed shape that dramatically, but I did notice that I lost in stages. I know they say that you lose evenly all over... but... yeah, that didn't seem to happen with me. My stomach also loses slower than anywhere else. At the stage i'm at now, my stomach skin also hinders my shape. I swear if it was gone i'd be at least a size smaller. I should also note that I was never bottom-heavy. I was always pretty much in proportion.
  4. 1000 calories over 2 days right? So 500 a day? To me that seems right on, maybe a little low even. Are you getting in enough Protein? As long as you getting in your liquids and protein than I wouldn't worry about your calories. I am 9 months out and I average 600-800 a day. Do you use MFP? It is a great way to track what you are eating (easy as well) and to compare your food with others. If you do use it, feel free to add me (emmeylou). There are a bunch of us sleevers on there as well.

AND you are ONLY two pounds away from ONEDERLAND!!!!! I can't wait to see you post that!!

    Very Disapointed

I agree with everyone else! 17 lbs since the beginning of may is awesome!!! That is nothing to be unhappy about, not at all! I know losing little by little is frustrating, but I promise when those numbers creep up steadily higher and higher it will be even more rewarding. I have never had a large number loss. It was always 2, 3 at the beginning and now its closer to 1. But each pound is sooo worth it! Make sure you are getting in your Water and Protein. As long as you are doing that the numbers will move. They may move slowly, they mall stall, they may go up a bit (water weight, TOM, bloating, etc..) but in the end, they will go down! Your sleeve won't fail you as long as you keep up your end of the bargain.

New To Sleeve... Testing The Waters.

Welcome Dave This is definitely a great place to get advice and information! A little warning... we are all a bit biased !! First off, GREAT job on getting healthy/fit even before your potential surgery. The healthier you are before, the healthier you are after! If you do proceed with the surgery your recovery should be quicker and easier and your new habits should stick easier. If you're magic number was closer to your goal weight, I might have a tiny bit of hesitation. But since 315 is closer to your starting weight than your goal weight (i'm assuming this, you could be really, really tall) I would say that you will have no problems at all blowing past this. From what I've experienced and read from others you may stall there, even for a couple weeks, but in the end you will lose and push past it. The amazing thing about the sleeve is it takes care of you as long as you take care of it! Whenever I stall or have a bad day I just remember that sleevie is still there preventing me from doing any serious damage to my weight loss. So, in my opinion, the sleeve would be a GREAT tool to get you past this. I also feel like from what you've said that the sleeve (versus band, RNY, etc) would be great for you since you are capable of good eating. The sleeve is a tool, it will help you lose weight of course, but like everything it is your choices that will ultimately keep the weight off. I have always thought of it as my life preserver. When I first started this journey I felt like I was stranded in the middle of the ocean. I was strong enough to keep my head up, but I wasn't going anywhere. The life preserver (my sleeve!) keeps me up, while I swim for shore. I still have to do the work, but I'm not struggling to keep my head up anymore. To further this very corny metaphor, this site, my family and my support group are my lighthouse. They help me know where to swim and keep me on course. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask! Also, if you haven't already. There is a great search function on here that will make it easier to browse through all the posts. And there is a "mens room" too, for male specific questions. (warning, us ladies tend to linger there sometimes too lol!!)

    Colonoscopy After Vsg

I don't know from experience, but I cannot imagine it being easy, or even possible. I can barely get in my water, over the course of an entire day...
  10. I wasn't aware of the bone mass issues with this surgery. Thanks for bringing it up! I'm planning on adding it to my list of questions for my next appointment.

    Life At A Stand-Still

This was the hardest part of the entire journey for me!! The waiting and suspense is killer!! I kept myself as busy as I possibly could to keep my mind off of it... it worked... kinda... okay, not really! But I tried Good luck! The time will be here before you know it!

    Is "12" Days Enough

I wasn't even required to do an official pre-op diet (except the 2 days Clear liquids before that i'm pretty sure everybody does before anesthesia), so i'm sure 12 days is fine. Also, I highly doubt they would have scheduled you that close, but if you are worried just call back and double check! I personally think you are fine! Rock the pre-op diet while I warm you seat up on the losers bench Congrats on getting your date!
  15. Congrats!! You are doing so well! It's obvious how happy and motivated you are! I am 9 months out and like you over a year since my journey started. It is amazing and wonderful just how much changes. Great job on the mentoring as well! I'm sure they are thrilled to have your help! Keep rocking your sleeve lady!

    Soooo Frustrated!

I'm so sorry to hear this! It much be very difficult for you! First off, congrats on getting to your halfway point! That is a big accomplishment and shouldn't be pushed aside! In the meantime, I would focus on your Water and your Protein. As long as you are getting those in (and your vitamins!) then you are doing everything that you can do. Unfortunately, your body just wants/needs more time to drop the weight. ((hugs))

    Sleeved Two Days Ago

I also had no nausea or vomiting!! You are doing great for a third day sleever! Good job on the Water too! I did something similar, I aimed for an ounce every 10 minutes. And it took a sip every few seconds to do that! Thanks for sharing and welcome to the losers bench!!

    For The Love Of Crackers

I am not really a big cracker fan, but one of my favorite snacks pre-sleeve was "thin crisps" (triscuits, but thin). I would get the flavored ones and then I would dip them in cottage cheese. YUMMY! I don't like cottage cheese plain, and i don't like the flavored crackers alone... but together it was delicious!

    Regain Bites!

I'm wondering the same as the person above me... I don't know your stat's or where you are in the process of this. If you are supposed to be in maintenance then my suggestion is "back to basics" for awhile. Water, Vitamins, Protein. Stop when you hit your mins and make sure to exercise! If you are still in the process of losing, then I would think it is most likely water weight or muscle. Good luck, chin up, ((hugs))!!

    Yay..nsv

YAY!!! I know how difficult that is! Congrats

    Is This Normal?

I didn't read through the other replies, so i'm sorry if i'm repeating anything. Yes, it is normal to regular water to bug your stomach. There are days even now for me (i'm 9 months out) where I just can't do plain water. HOWEVER... you HAVE to get your fluids up! That is the most important thing right now. You said you are only getting in about 8 oz a day? That is really not so good. Try warm liquids. Broth, bouillon, etc. They went down considerably better for me. Cold water kinda shocks your body so it could also be why popsicles aren't sitting that well. You could try using a candle warmer to keep it warm while you sip it. The other thing that helped me were straws. I know many people are told not to, I was told it was fine. While I was home, the straw was pretty much attached to my mouth. I was sipping such small amounts that it seemed like I wasn't drinking any, but it worked! And day by day I could drink a bit more. I aimed for an ounce every 10 minutes. That is 6 an hour, so if I do that for 10 hours I get a min of 60 in. That also gave me a tiny bit of wiggle room. It is really tough when water doesn't go down well, but you will work through it! Good luck!!
  23. Nut- nutritionist PCP- primary care physician PPI- proton pump inhibitor Those three took me a little while to figure out lol! There is an old thread around that was actually a VST "dictionary" about all of our little shortcuts. You could search for it if you'd like, it was very humorous!

    Almost There

I also had liquid loritab after my surgery. I used it only for a couple days after, and only once a day... Congrats on getting all your ducks in a row! I'll start warming up your seat on the loser's bench
  25. That was NOT fat gain! It is WATER WEIGHT! Your body fluctuates hourly, daily, weekly, etc. For me, I actually gain close to 10 lbs every 3 weeks... it goes right down and then some... but it just happens. This is not an actual gain. If you can, pull yourself away from the scale. You will learn that your numbers will fluctuate and that this is normal. Until then, you are going to drive yourself crazy. Don't kill yourself on exercise right now either. You are only a week out of surgery. Going outside in this heat with so little calories would be hazardous to your health. You could pass out or get dizzy and that would set you back. The only thing I didn't see you mention was water. Make sure you are getting in your liquids!! Believe it or not, to get rid of water weight, you have to drink more water! This is the MOST IMPORTANT thing for you at only a week out. Good luck and don't let this discourage you.
