    Shirataki noodles are the bomb!

Ohhh, i'll have to try these. I absolutely adore pasta and have ever since I can remember. I've been low-carb for months and would love a change! Where do you buy them? Also, at what stage do you think it would be okay to try them? I just had my surgery last week so I am thinking it will be either in my soft foods or full foods stage. What are your favorite ways to prepare them? Sorry for all the questions I'm just excited since I thought I was saying "bye bye" to pasta until I get to maintenance!

You have one amazing man lady! Congrats Hang on to this feeling, right now, whenever something tries to bring you down. Cause this feeling should be a million times stronger!

    Done!

It does help I was curious because there seems to be a huge controversy over the "low carb" diet. In fact my PCP is not supportive of it at all. I decided to go with my surgeon and his team and I have been on the low carb diet for a few months now, and I've been very successful. I plan to do the same as you, low-carb with the infrequent treat while I am losing and then upping the carbs to maintain.

    Done!

Congrats on being sleeved and welcome to the boards! I was sleeved on the 19th so I'm right there with you I'm curious, you said you are on clear liquids now but what is your diet of choice once you are on regular foods? Do you agree with the low-carb or just eating smaller amounts? I am very curious as to what your opinion is since you are both a sleever and a physician.

    About TASTE

Well I am only a week post-op, but my taste buds have changed. I have been low-carb for months now, but after the surgery all of the sudden anything that is sweet tastes disgustingly sweet. For the first time I can actually taste when something has an artificial sweetener in it, which just about everything does. Sugar free popsicles just about made me sick. I noticed yesterday that even my bottled water has a subtle sweetness to it that now disgusts me. I have taken to adding lemon (like straight lemon juice) to my water just to be able to get it down. I am hoping that this is temporary, because it is very annoying. It definitely surprised me!

    countdown to the band removal

Well for one, congrats on the band removal! It sounds like you really needed it. And two, where in the world is that PCP??? I want her!! My PCP is... okay. She wasn't really supportive but wasn't outright against it either. I have been low-carb for months now as part of my PSWL and she was definitely against that. The letter of recommendation she wrote... she refused to say that it was medically necessary. She is very wishy-washy and that concerns me with a physician. I want my PCP to be strong. Either say you agree it with or that you don't. Congrats again

Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?

SW..... 264..... CW 222.....GW.... 199 Do you think this is possible? I never dreamed that I could be in onederland this early. I just had my sleeve this week but I rocked my pre-op diet and lost 40 lbs, so I'm thinking that 23 pounds in over a month is possible this early out, but at the same time it seems a bit much. Well, anyways. I'm going to leave it and if I don't make I'll stick to my original goal of being in onederland by my birthday in February

    Been Sleeved Too

Hey! Welcome to the boards This really is an amazing support group! I was sleeved 6 days ago so I'm not too far from where you are. The tickers are pretty easy. You go to a site like tickerfactory.com or just google weigh loss ticker. You run through the steps and then enter your data. Then it will give you a bunch of codes, you copy and paste the one meant for forums (on tickerfactory it is the first one) into your profile. You may need to play around on your profile and settings to get used to it, but after going through it it should make sense. There is also a ticker tutorial on the boards. I'm not exactly sure where but i'm sure if you search it, it will come right up.

Approved today...so why am I freaking out??

It could be because it is real now. You have done everything you need to prepare and you have the final go ahead. Before it was still iffy, so it didn't feel real. Of course you are freaking out a bit, you just made one of the biggest life choices you ever will. In my opinion that was one of the best choices you ever could have made. Now the reality is setting in. Just remind yourself of all the reasons you chose this to begin with. For now I would say take a deep breath, and put it behind you. Have a good nights sleep and then after a day or two go back to thinking about it. I bet you will feel a lot calmer and more at peace with your decision. And congrats by the way, on your approval!
  12. Hey everyone- I need to start taking my chewable multi-vitamin, and I was wondering if there is a certain time of day that is better to take them? I've heard that more of the nutrients gets absorbed if it is taken at night. What is your opinion on this? Thanks!
  13. I did not see the show, but it seems like she has given up. It's like her weight has gotten to the point where she gave up. She doesn't believe she has any hope. In her point of view it's like she said "well, since I can't be the smallest let's shoot for the biggest, at least I'll be known for something then". It is very sad that anybody can get to that point of desperation. She needs a lot more psychological help before she will ever be able to consider surgery. It is one of those things that the person needs to want to help themselves before others can help them. They can talk to her all they want but if she is stuck in the mind frame nothing is going to change.

    This is IT!!!!

I will wish you luck, even though I don't believe you need it. You are so ready for this and you are going to rock the sleeve! I also had "Edge of Glory" playing around in my mind before my surgery, it is very fitting!

How are the Florida sleevers doing????

I'm glad to hear you are doing well! The tiredness is hitting me really hard as well, I slept a LOT today and am forcing myself to stay awake just to drink right now. A jax get-together sounds awesome

    Pic Update!

You look great! Keep up the awesome work!
  18. I think it depends on your surgeon whether you are all clears or full liquids. I am on full liquids and am three days out as well. I tried a Protein Drink for the first time tonight. It went fine but i can definitely feel it sitting heavier than the water. I had the stomach spasms each time I drank as well, until this morning when I put the straw in my mouth and took teeny tiny sips... but I drank every few seconds. It helped enormously. My stomach stopped spasing and I am getting my liquids in. Not quite as much as I had hoped at this point, but still pretty good. I've got 40 oz in and am working on the last 20, so hopefully by the time I am asleep I can get that in. The other thing, and my one wonderful nurse told me this, often cold things make the stomach spasm. They had given me ice water and I was having a hard time with it, when I let it "warm up" it went much better. So the ice pops might be making it worse for you. Try sipping on some warm broth or warm water with a bouillon cube in it. I really enjoyed that while I was in the hospital. It was the easiest to get down. Good luck, and don't forget you aren't alone!
  19. Wow! You look amazing! I was only sleeved this week, but after all of my up and down dieting I definitely understand what you mean about not seeing yourself clearly. I lost 40 lbs before surgery and I swear I look the same as I did a few months ago. My mom and my family can see a difference, but me? No way. I think it is partially because i've been at this weight before and I feel like i'm "back" to where I was before, not like I've lost any. I'm hoping that this will change as I lose more and more. Also, congrats on being off of your meds! That is an even bigger achievement than the weight loss in my book!

    Sleeve & the Holidays

I am not an october sleever, as I just had mine done, but the holiday's was something I thought of a lot. October is huge in my family, between birthdays and anniversaries and haloween there is always a lot of food and a lot of baking. I was excited to have my surgery before all of this. For me, I will be on solids by thanksgiving and christmas so I am not going to be very strict with what I eat, but the amount. I will be careful with carbs, since I've been low-carb for a few months now, but I definitely plan on partaking on my holiday favorites, just in small amounts and protein first.

    5 days out!

Hello! Welcome to the boards I was just sleeved as well, I am 3 days out, but I have been on the boards for months now. This really is an incredible site and the people are amazing! Good luck!
  22. Well, I have no idea what it feels like to be 8 months preggo lol, but I am definitely bloated and swollen. My mom noticed it more than I did but boy I can tell now. I absolutely refuse to go near a scale until my follow-up appointment with my surgeon. I haven't walked too much, in the hospital I was too dizzy from a reaction to my pain meds and then I left the next day. Once I was home it was pouring and then I slept, and slept some more... and then I slept some more lol! Good luck on your walk

    Husband Drama

I'm very sorry to hear that you are in this situation. No one deserves to go through that. You are making the right choice to leave him, and the right choice by doing it properly with a lawyer. My mom was in a very similar relationship when I was young. They started off great but then he started to get mentally and emotionally abusive. I was around 10 at the time and he started saying things to me, little things that would hurt my feelings and make me cry. At this point my mom ended the relationship. It was the hardest thing ever for her and I can tell to this day that she still loves him and misses him, but she did it for me so that I wouldn't grow up in that type of situation. Stay strong! You are an amazing woman and mother.

    Lots of sizes available

I shipped three huge (about 40 lbs+ each) boxes from NJ to FL and they cost about 30 bucks each. I sent them the cheapest way they had through the post office and I got them in about a week. So, I highly doubt that even all of those clothes could weigh that much so I think it is safe to say it would cost you under 30... hope this helps at all
  25. I'm right there with you as well! I was sleeved on Monday and everything hurt. I haven't even attempted anything other than water yet so I am exhausted all the time on top of being really really sore. What did you do to yourself? You did the best thing ever. You gave yourself the chance and the opportunity and the tool to become healthy and lose the weight. This is the hardest part, right now. It will get better... do what I do. Head on over to the "Success Stories" page and re-read them. And keep reading reading them. It helps a LOT. We 'll get through this
