LOL! This post is hilarious I'm 7 months out, 114 down and I still have my "blobs" (teehee). Are they smaller? Yes, but not horribly so. I am the same proportion if that makes sense. I had bigger boobs on my bigger body. Technically they are smaller, but they really don't seem like it because all of me is smaller. My butt... kinda a different story But I can always build up butt muscle when I switch to focusing on exercise more than weight loss. I can say for sure that I'm not complaining about being in size 6 pants Overall, even if I did lose my assets I think it would be 100% worth it. Even though I felt good, even at my highest, I feel a million times better now.

Anyone else worried about sleeve stretch?
emily_0192010 replied to KCPOTPIE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey So I know this was posted awhile ago but I was searching the boards to see the number of oz other people were eating at this stage (i'm 7 months out). I know for sure that the 2oz is really only while you are healing, which can take up to 6 months. Right around my 5 month mark I noticed I could suddenly eat quite a bit more and I panicked for a little while until I remember that what I was eating the first few months was tiny because my stomach was still healing. Once I remembered that my capacity was supposed to go up I felt much better Right now I can eat between 2.5 and 3 oz if it is dense Protein. I only weigh my Proteins and only once in awhile to make sure i'm still on track so I can't tell you much more than that. I don't eat carbs on a regular basis, but I won't refuse them either. For instance I had a piece of birthday cookie cake on monday for my grandmother's birthday. During regular meals I cannot get in any veggies (let alone carbs) unless I spread my meal out over an hour or so, which I don't like to do. I do know that certain foods, especially popcorn, are "sliders" for me and I could eat a lot of eat. Luckily I haven't had problems with stopping when I know i've had enough. So at your point I think it is perfectly fine that you are eating 4 oz. Just make sure its 4oz of the good stuff most of the time I've read on here before how some people can eat half a sandwich or kids meal. I can't do that, but it certainly seems possible. -
My Nutritionist Just Called Me An "anomaly" :/

Hello First off, I can sense how frustrated you are, and of course you are! But try to not think about the numbers. I know, it seems impossible, but I am wondering if the stress you are putting yourself under is keeping you from losing. I am much further out (7 months), but I was recently in a high-stress situation and I lost zero weight for a month. The month before that, 2 lbs. At my point the weight loss is supposed to slow down, but zero lost was killer. As soon as I was out of the situation, I lost 4 lbs. Stress, and sleep (I believe someone else mentioned that) are super important!! I have come to learn that I am *very* sensitive to stress, sleep, carbs, and Water. If I am "off" on any of those 4 then I don't lose. At all. I don't know if anyone else mentioned it. But make sure you are getting in ALL of your water and then some!! It is super important because if you are dehydrated your body can't function properly and cannot "flush" the fat its burning. Can I also suggest that if this continues that you talk to your surgeon? He/She may ask you to do blood work or something to make sure that everything is physically okay. Good luck and please keep us posted! Deep breath, (((hugs))), smile. It will all work out You're sleeve won't let you down. -
Aetna... I Want To Cry!

I don't believe you have to have had the co-morbidity for 2+years. I didn't have to worry about this as my BMI was way over 40, but it wouldn't make sense for you to have to have the problem that long before surgery is allowed. Please don't be scared or worried that it will be in vain. It would suck if you were denied, but then you will appeal it and you will fight for it! This whole process is a learning experience and will never have been in vain. If they deny you this year, keep doing it until you get it. I will say, based on what you've provided, I don't think they will deny you. Good luck! -
Officially 110 down today! Very excited
I had a rough week so I was surprised to see a 2 lbs drop!

Hi Ellie! I'm Emily and I'm 21 as well I already had my surgery, 7 months ago in september. I am very glad to hear that you have such a strong support network. I had that and it really helps sooo much My mom was incredible for me and I am soo happy I had her. It is life changing, but once you are at the point where I am and beyond, you don't notice it as much. It shifts into a new normal that is feels good.I never realised how much I was missing before If you have any questions or just want to chat let me know! You can always send me a private message. Good luck! May will be here before you know it! -
Stress = very grumpy sleeve! Sorry buddy, could you please be patient with me? I'm trying!

I am low carb, but mainly because I can barely get my protein mins in now (with a shake too), so to add in more carbs wouldn't really work for me. I plan on adding in carbs when I want to hit maintenance. To stay low I just eat protein. I don't eat rice/pasta/bread/ etc (actually, most of those my sleeve can't handle). That being said, that is what I do on a regular basis. I don't forbid them. I had a scoop of ice cream the other day and when I made cookies for my cousin I had one of those too! No big deal for me.
-
I use straws I cannot stand the smell and to this day (6 months out) often the protein will make me gag the first few sips. It doesn't matter what brand/flavor (though some are worse for me) it is. I learned to just work past it, especially since I still can't eat my protein minimum.
-
I never asked, but since I was having a tough time getting in my mins I didn't want to risk dehydration by adding in coffee. I did have some around the 2 month mark and I realized that I can't tolerate it very well anymore. I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your energy. You didn't say how far out you are, but it could still be post-op recovering tiredness. Your b vitamins could be low. When I was tired the first few weeks after I would drink powerade zero or propel water. They have b vitamins and electrolytes in them and I felt much better

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible stall. But I congratulate you on your positive outlook. It is so true that if weight loss is this hard WITH the sleeve I can't imagine what it would be like without it! No wonder I was never successful before. I can't imagine what you're going through. I was about to pull my hair out after a 3 week stall. They are so frustrating. To break mine I changed up what I was doing. I stuck to my Proteins and Water and changed the type of exercise I was doing. The weekend before my stall broke (I weigh in on mondays) I visited some friends and I had a "carb" day... meaning that I focused on proteins but I didn't worry about the ice cream scoop I had or the cookie I had. I needed the break mentally. My sleeve let me be normal without worrying about going crazy. The next day I was down 4. I definitely don't go carb crazy to lose the weight, it normally wouldn't work. It could've just been the mental sigh of relief over the weekend that caused it, I really don't know. No matter what, stalls are tough. Focus on all of those wonderful NSV's and your muscle tone and your body and relax knowing that your sleeve will take care of you. Also, your scale stinks lol! Leave it alone for awhile. ((hugs)) good luck!

What Are You Looking Like?

You'll be there before you know! Thanks -
I live with someone like this. She is quite heavy and recently had a baby. She is always talking about how she needs to go back on her diet and she needs to do this and do that... but she's saying all this while gorging herself on ice cream and leftover chinese. Then she'll be like, want a cookie? You said you are allowed too, why won't you have one?" The other day we were talking about something that came on the news and she was like "since I know you, its like wow look how skinny she is, but if i didn't know you I would just think you are a regular person. I know you still have to tone up more and stuff. If I was a stranger I wouldn't think you were slim". I was actually pretty upset because hello... i wear a size 6 now! SIX. I have never worn that number before and yeah, I still have some work to do and I want to get to my goal weight but to say that was so wrong. It can be very annoying. I try to just ignore it. But it does get really frustrating. Sorry you have to deal with this on a regular basis.

Nsv! Celebrate The Little Things!
emily_0192010 replied to AbacoRaveness's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I loved being able to comfortably cross my legs again Now, pretty much wherever I am I am sitting "criss cross applesauce" (as my little sis would say). At the dining room table, in a booth, on the couch... my legs are always crossed and tucked under me lol. You are doing great! Thanks for sharing! -
It's Thursday Thinker Time!
emily_0192010 replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard this quote before, but I like it. I think its true that change and growth can't happen if you don't allow it to. You have to put yourself out there and take the risk that maybe it won't be what you are expecting. I think all change is good. Even if it turns out wrong you've learned from that experience and can move on. -

emily_0192010 replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I am fairly happy with my numbers (I've slowed way down recently) but I have dropped a ton of sizes and people do notice It is especially awesome when I see people that do not about my weight loss. It makes it easier when my weight loss stalls when I remember that my body is still changing and catching up. I never tracked inches, but I love it when my jeans go down a size. To make it easier on myself I only wear one brand of jeans (at this point). I hate when my jean size fluctuates, even if I know it realistically is not me going up in a size but rather a different brand/different sizes etc. So I stuck with one brand and I love it when I have to buy the size down I went from a 24 old navy jean to a 6! I don't dare trying on a 6 anywhere else because if they don't fit it would crush me lol. My other pants are a size 8. So I'm feeling pretty good right about now! -
I've never heard of it, but it sounds fun! Good luck

Hey everyone Recently I started to up my exercise. I don't have access to a gym so I've been doing yoga (the free videos on cable) and basic at home workouts (like push-ups, crunches, etc). I also walk a lot and my plan was this week or next week (weather dependent) to start jogging at the park near here. I always stretch very well and I'm careful not to over-do it or push myself too hard. I know sore muscles are to be expected, but mine are incredibly sore. Keeping me up at night even with advil sore and lasting for days type of sore. I've tried hot showers, gentle stretching, just giving it time, taking a break from the exercise. Could the reason its this bad be because I'm not getting in enough Protein? I am definitely hitting my min every day, and I normally go over but is this my body's way of saying that I need more? If not, what do I do?? Even my ribs and forearms are sore lol. Thanks everyone!

Awesome NSV!!! I bet all of us ladies remember the day we realized our boobs stuck out further than our tummy's I was sooo happy when this happened!

All I had to do was write out a list of past diets/exercise attempts and what my approximate weight was during each. Nothing official. I have Aetna if that helps...

Could Very Sore Muscles Mean Protein Deficiency?
emily_0192010 replied to emily_0192010's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I don't believe it's joint pain, just like really really sore muscles. I was doing light yoga (I could do the whole program pretty easily), stretching (not pushing it though), leg lifts, crunches, push-ups (tried lol). And, NOT all at once. The only thing I do every day is stretch. So these were spread out around 3 days I believe. -
Could Very Sore Muscles Mean Protein Deficiency?
emily_0192010 replied to emily_0192010's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks for the input everyone! I have not had my levels checked, but i'm 1000 miles away from my doctor, so hopefully this resolves itself! I also don't think it is calcium related. I never gave up milk and I eat yogurt every-other-day, plus there is definitely calcium in my Protein shake that I drink daily. As for Water aerobics- I'd love too! I used to before my surgery but then I moved and the gyms with pool access are extremely over-priced and ridiculous. I tried desperately to get a membership somewhere, because I actually used to like the gym, but I simply can't afford it. I suppose I'll give it some more time and if it doesn't go away ask my doctor (my gp or my surgeon?? hmmm...). It's just weird how sore it is... I never completely gave up exercise, just amped it up a bit. Plus, some of the muscles that are sore were unexpected- like around my ribs and my forearms. That was what made me think it could be more than just normal soreness. -
Have Acid Reflux? Especially Gagging Type When Lying Down?
emily_0192010 replied to AMLP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never thought of using those before. It kinda makes sense though. I know with babies that have reflux are often encouraged to use pacifiers because the sucking helps keep the acid level lower (it forces you to swallow more frequently). Thanks for the tip! -
