  1. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and can't imagine having gone to a concert 2 days later. I went to a concert 11 days post-op and after standing for 4 hrs thought I was going to die. I rode in the car for the first time (aside from the day of surgery) 4 days post op and every bump was very uncomfortable. Just my 2 cents.

    Co Worker JUST SAID WHAT????!!!!

Oh yeah, totally doing it the natural way. To heck with her. Jealousy rears its ugly head from time to time. Focus on you and your health :-)

    4 Days Post Op

I was completely useless for 5-7 days after surgery. Kudos to those who were out and about on day 2-3, I could not do it. Let your body heal and don't sweat it. I was dragging last week when I came back to work. I still get tired early and am 17 days post op.

    Mushies

I agree with everything she said. LOL
  5. You definitely need to listen to your doctor and follow his orders post-op. I just started on mushies on Friday and I was banded 4 days before you.
  6. Great job!! Very inspiring!
  7. I bought the liquid Tylenol and it is "Rapid Release." It will be right by the regular Tylenol. Also, I felt like pure crap up until about 4 days ago (I am 2 weeks post op today). It does get better. Walking will help you a lot with the gas pain and the Gas-X strips help out a lot.
  8. I didn't weigh myself for the first 5 days after surgery and then when I did I was happy, but not excited. I read too much about people losing huge amounts week 1 and 2 and got down that I "only" lost 6 lbs. I did lose 10 the week before surgery so I knew to expect a lower number. But now I am obsessed. I WI every day and the numbers have not budged in the past 3 days and I am still on liquids so it is freaking me out. I think I am going to tell my husband to hide the scale. Anyone else do the same or still doing it?
  9. How long did yours last? I still can't button my pants. Went and bought some flowy dresses to wear until I can get back in my pants.
  10. My doctor's office has a clothing swap, so I plan on taking them there.

    STEAK

I just have to say that your title cracked me up because it is what I have been feeling for over 3 days. Happy Belated Birthday!

    I AM SOOO CONSTIPATED

I used Miralax (generic version) pre-surgery to stay regular. You can also buy the glycerin suppositories that will get you going no matter what.
  13. My doc said the 1st sign of band slippage is heartburn. Definitely go in and see them about it.
  14. Get up and walk. I was walking one block at a time starting day 1 because I didn't want all the pain and luckily it never went above my stomach area. It took a day or two to go away after that.
  15. Not sure how I missed this, perhaps I was a little preoccupied. :-) I am Michelle and I was banded in Vegas on 5/27. I thought I was never going to feel better until Sun...then the gas started. Fortunately I walked a lot and it didn't move above my belly, but dang!! I had my post op appt today and they said my incisions look really good. One more week on liquids...I can't wait for mushies!!! I also can't wait to be able to get back to the gym. Another week for that, but then I will still take it easy until 4 weeks post op.

    Back to Work Now

I know my stomach is still super swollen, I am shopping for one more pair of stretchy pants before I go back to work on Mon. I seriously look like I am 7 mo pregnant.
  17. That is great! They used dermabond on mine so I have seen them from day one. Amazing how little they are, isn't it?! I go un for my 1 week tomorrow afternoon.

    Tricare (Triwest)

I am looking for those who are currently or have recently used Tricare to have your surgery done. I know the rules have changed a lot over the past few years. I attended my seminar last night and am waiting to hear from the doctor's office (already got my consultation referral). I have an appt with my PCM next week for a f/u to check my blood pressure (borderline high) and am going to ask her to do my referrals for blood work and chest x-ray when I am there since it takes so long to get an appt on base. I live in Vegas and have heard everything from "it was easy" to "I was denied". I am 5'8' and weigh 275. Any thoughts/suggestions/advice?
  19. I am 5'7 and was 275 when I started this. My BMI was 41. I camouflage my weight well. I had hypertension and borderline diabetes. My anesthesiologist actually said to me the morning of surgery that he usually knows who his patients are but he had to check my chart to know I was his patient. I told him thank you, but he hadn't seen me naked yet :-)

    Alcohol?

My doc said no alcoholic beverages at all for at least 4 months, and then nothing with carbonation.

    Mushies

    Great post!
  22. The heat helps my port site. That is the most painful. Getting better each day though.

    May Bandsters

They pump us so full of fluids in the hospital it isn't even funny.

    May Bandsters

I just had surgery yesterday and definitely feel better today than I did yesterday. LOL. I hate being sedentary. I am walking once an hour but dang!! I will be happy for the day I can stand up off the couch without having to hold my pillow against my stomach.
