  1. Do we have the same MIL? Gosh, what a B**** I totally understand about the photos, but I was a camera wh*re until about 3 months before surgery. I was tagged in everyone's Nascar weekend pics on FB and untagged myself because I truly didn't realize how bad I looked and was mortified. But alas, look at all the examples we have to go back to to say "Dang, I look HOT now!!"
  2. Great video, thanks for posting!
  3. I was walking/doing elliptical 2.5 weeks out and then I started with arms/legs at 3.5 weeks out. I haven't started abs yet...to scared. LOL

    Skechers Vs Reebok

I bought the shape ups and after 2days of walking in them ended up with severe hip pain (joint, not muscle). When I read up on them, I saw why. There are women with hip stress fractures because of wearing these suckers. Be very careful.
  8. I am 4 weeks post-op today and had pictures taken of myself this morning (I also did the night before surgery) and WOW!! I don't feel like I had lost all that much weight or slimmed down that much, but seeing the pictures put me in a GREAT mood!! I would highly suggest everyone do the same to actually see the progress being made. :-)
  9. 2 weeks. I was scheduled for during my 1st appt (I did the seminar 6 weeks prior) and had already done all of my surgery clearance through my primary. I was cleared for surgery the day I was scheduled. I have Tricare.
  10. What new rules are there? I also have Tricare Prime, just had surgery 4 weeks ago and it was still 100+ lbs overweight and a co-morbidity (I had hypertension as well). Where are you located? I'm sorry for your denials, but very good that you are able to self-pay.
  11. My doc's office doesn't have a problem with it, in fact they encourage it somewhere throughout the day. I do mine in the morning because I am not terribly hungry after I work out.

    Chia Seeds

LOL...is it bad that when I first started reading about them I didn't even associate them with Chia Pet?

    Chia Seeds

I know you can get them online...I actually buy mine at m doctor's office. If you have Trader Joe's or Whole Foods around you I would imagine they would carry them. Or any health food store for that matter.

how long out of work post op??

I had surgery on Friday, took the entire next week off and went back the next Monday. I work at a law office and couldn't imagine having gone back before then, but that is just me.

    Breakfast problem

I do a protein shake and at the last swallow add 1 tsp of chia seeds. Keeps me satisfied until lunch.
  16. I had surgery the day after you and have lost 25 total (including pre-op) but i am SEEING a huge difference. My clothes are looser, I am visibly "smaller" in certain areas (especially my midsection) and I know that so long as I keep with doing what I am supposed to food wise and working out the weight will continue to drop. Don't stress about the number on the scale. I am a scale stalker too but don't let it get to me anymore.
  17. I was there at 6 am for 7:30 am surgery. Had to shower again before I left the house so I was up at 4:15.
  18. I am 3.5 weeks post op and mine just started going down last week. It will take some time.
  19. What TriCare do you have? I have TriWest and I had to be at least 100 lbs overweight with at least 1 co-morbidity or 200% overweight. TriCare is strict with their rules but it is a fast process once all is said and done. I am 5'7 and weighed 275 when I started the process along with hypertension (I had a BMI of 41 but they did not take that into consideration). Have you gone to TriCare's website or spoken to a patient advocate? I think they will tell you the same but if different regions have different standards%2
  20. Bumping for WI today :-)
  21. It took me 6 days and was not terribly painful. Just make sure you are drinking plenty.
  22. Friday will be here before I know it. It is coming so fast I can't believe it! I learned a LOT of good information in the meeting today. I also bought a kit from my doctor's office that will get me through the first 30 days+. It has everything from the Protein drink mixes to the Protein powder to all supplements and chia seeds (for fiber). It was $300 but that was totally worth it to me. The supplements will last me 3 months and the other items are good for a month. Easy breezy. The pre-registration at the hospital sucked. It took an hour and a half longer than it should have, which concerns me for how they will be the day of surgery.

    AUNT FLOW

I was on meds for PCOS but didn't start regulating until 2 months before surgery. Then on my surgery day, literally 2 hrs post-op, I started.
