I've got no kids and aren't planning on having any time soon, but that's funny "Udder Covers" can't believe the company's actually called that LOL! -
How long are leaks usually a concern?
TijuanaPlication replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The ROSE technique isn't effective. People lose 20lbs initially and then gain it back when the restriction goes, so I hope she's not getting that. You may also hear about StomaphyX and that's even less effective than the ROSE or POSE technique (it doesn't tighten the entrance of exit to the stomach). -

Is 65 too old for a gastric sleeve plication
TijuanaPlication replied to nancybr45's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I've re-watched some of Curtis' Vlogs and on video 7 he says under the comments "I am ok now, and the surgery was definitely worth it." On video 8 Curtis posts in the comments section "Have you considered the Gastric Sleeve? It's the surgery I recommend." In that video Curtis talks about his dad wanting to go for the sleeve! -

Is 65 too old for a gastric sleeve plication
TijuanaPlication replied to nancybr45's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Hi Nancy, I was scared of a leak. The risk of leak with the plication is meant to be zero (I've read about a couple of complications with GPS so far). The risk of a leak on a virgin stomach with VSG is 1%. Here's a link where Tiffykins on VST talks about her leak http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/14560-vsg-leak/ Tiffykins was a band to sleeve conversion and the risk jumps to 4% for revisions. Tiffykins says in the above thread "I will honestly say that all the complications were worth having the life I have today." Curtis' vlog on youtube had VSG complications and you may want to have a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F63Ra9IorJw I've not watched his vlogs recently, but IIRC he would do it again (he has a whole series of vlogs). I was under the belief that the weight loss with GPS was going to be same the same as VSG and it appears not to be the case for a number of people - I've not heard as many insufficient weight loss reports with VSG. You need to seriously consider your options. -

TijuanaPlication replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Liliana and welcome. You may want to look over some of Tiffykins posts as she had her VSG at a military facility. There's a thread here on sleeve vs bypass which may be of interest http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/18102-sleeve-vs-bypass/ Most people use a PPI for GERD and hopefully others can contribute on that front as I've never suffered from that. -

Yes, those are the reasons why I went with Dr Lopez Corvala, ie there's an ICU should complications arise (they didn't arise but I'd rather have them right there if something did happen). Dr Lopez is very experienced (certainly with the plication - you'd have to check on VSG, although I can't imagine he isn't). Plus for plications any complication costs are covered - you'd have to check for the sleeve, but for plication it says the following in the link below. http://healthtraveltechnologies.com/htg/ahi/AHIFaqGastricSleevePlication/ "Angeles Price Assurance : The cost for any complications that may occur during your procedure and while you are at the hospital will be absorbed by the hospital." [at the bottom of the above link] -

If you go for an eliptical, be sure to try it out. I had one that I bought from QVC many years ago and it was so squeaky I couldn't hear the TV!!! -

My husband stayed in the Camino Real in Tijuana and he said it was pretty good. I didn't stay in a hotel as I stayed 3 nights in the hospital and was then taken back to San Diego airport by the hospital driver. -

65 is fine for VSG, subject to your general health being what's considered 'normal'. You may want to post on http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/ as that site may be more relevant for sleeve answers. BTW what's your BMI? My doc, Dr Lopez Corvala does the sleeve. I'd recommend him for the VSG to friends or family. -

I'm a DVD gal and really enjoy Barry's Boot Camp. They're so enthusiastic you can't help but feel motivated. You get resistance and cardio with Barry's Boot Camp. I also enjoy Caribbean Workout - their urban rebounding (mini trampoline) and Step workouts. I record their workouts that are transmitted on the Body In Balance channel in the UK - I imagine they must also broadcast in the US too (they're actually Canadian, have great bods and that's really motivating for me). They also have DVDs on Amazon but I've not tried those. I got the Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred and I found it too easy. I thought I'd get an ass kicking as I do love her on the Biggest Loser. 10 minute solution kettlebell ultimate fat burner is good. I also got Kettleworx and can't stand it. If they repeat an exercise in a workout (which they do a lot), they splice in the exact same section where they did before, so you get the same cheesey jokes several times in the same workout. Edited to correct spelling of Jillian. -
4 Days Post Op
TijuanaPlication replied to Sleeve Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm guessing you're on clear liquids at the mo and that part sucks. I felt tired for about the first month post-op, but I'd say that's to do with anesthetic more than anything. Just take things easy and try and not push yourself too much. You should have some more energy when you get to go on to full liquids and that will hopefully help with the light headedness. Hang in there and take you analgesics if you need them. I hope you feel a lot better soon! -
Surgery in TJ on August 2nd
TijuanaPlication replied to destinythin's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had paper stitches, the 'real' stitches must've been just under the surface. I saw my PCP 10 days post op and he said I'd healed nicely and it was OK to remove them. You should be able get blood work through your PCP. Speak to them to check they're OK with this. I flew in from London, so def no plans to return any time particularly soon!
