    Nexium Mups

The hospital had me chew mine. Sometimes they'd pre-crush them for me, but mostly I chewed them.
  2. The before pic looks like it's your older sister. It's great how the clock appears to have gone backwards for you!

    General anesthesia issues

I've not experienced this, but you should tell your doctor about this as I've heard that they can change the type of anesthetic to avoid this, but you need to make sure you let them know well ahead of time.

    Nexium Mups

Multiple Unit Pellet System (MUPS™) tablet. The MUPS tablet consists of many enteric-coated granules compressed into a tablet. Source: http://www.pulsus.co...02/nexiumpi.htm You have to chew them and they get stuck in your teeth so get a pill crusher as they taste really gross! The only way I could get them out of my teeth was to brush them immediately after!!

1 Week Out Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery

HI lauraleigh, that also happened to me around the same time so I'd say that's totally normal. Liquids should be able to go down just fine which is why you should steer clear of high calorie drinks. I have no problem getting down 64oz of water a day now. After a week of clear liquids, full liquids are great - enjoy!

    Consult completed

You'll have to do some before and after picks!! I'm guessing the plastics will help you lose a few lbs (maybe not right away with the inflammation though). Keep us posted.

    Just Starting!

Wow, you sound like you're doing really well. I wasn't really up to much 'til about 3 days after my op as I was still on the drip and feeling a woozy from the anesthetic LOL!

    Just Starting!

I don't drink either before or now, but my sweet tooth has lessened a bit, plus I don't go for carbs much either. I guess it's your body's way of telling you that you need different things now.

    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

Stand your ground and get the surgery you want. With RNY you won't be able to take NSAIDs if you ever need them and who knows what lies 10 or 20 years down the line. Also I view the dumping that 40% of RNYers experience as a bad thing as it really messes with your blood sugar levels and can make you crave stuff (although dumping if often promoted as a positive thing). See here for some reasons why you don't want RNY http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/4321339/Lurkers-Learn-Here-About-Your-Pyloric-Valve-informative/action,replies/topic_id,4321339/page,1/ If you need a revision from RNY that's a very complex surgery, whereas if you were to need one with VSG then you have a comparatively straight forward revision option. Good luck!
  11. I used a 12 month interest free credit card to pay for my surgery.

    New to the group

Hi Mook, I don't know if you've seen many of posts but personally I'd say go for the sleeve as it has a better success rate - the GPS has failed me, no complications but just not enough restriction. See below for details: overall weight loss was considered satisfactory in 78.6% of the patients who underwent gastric plication and in 97.5% of those who underwent sleeve. http://www.skrekas.net/surg_hemstatistics.htm As you're a revision you really do want to go for a reputable surgeon as it's a more complex surgery. BTW what's your current BMI?

    Progress of some sort...

Congrats on the progress. BTW you alarmed me for a second. I thought you were saying chowchows was having gastric bypass surgery, but then I remembered it was gallbladder surgery LOL!
  14. I've read you should wait a year as you don't want to get pregnant during your weight loss window when you're able to eat less. Tiffykins over on http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com is a couple of years out from VSG and is pregnant and has posted a bit on her pregnancy, so you could search for some of her posts.

Low BMI to start - 29

Hi specialkai, I barely scraped in with a BMI of 30, but my surgeon really wanted to push towards the band on the day of surgery for this reason (I was told def no surgery if I was BMI 29.9) I only lost 17lbs and have regained that, as I really don't have restriction. I don't know if Dr Lopez Corvala gave me a loose plication because he considered me a 'light weight'. I really do believe that this surgery does seem to be more effective on people with higher BMIs. To be honest I think you might struggle to get a reputable surgeon to operate on you at your BMI. I've read about Dr Mario Almanza in Tijuana performing WLS on people that are only overweight and not obese, but I've read quite a few reports about post op infections and complications, etc, so you'd have to research long and hard about that. Dr Cirangle in Cali operates at a low BMI according to this thread http://www.verticals...ill-having-vsg/ I have no knowledge about this doc so you'd have to investigate further. I would seriously consider the VSG rather than GPS, as plication hasn't worked for me at all. And really look into getting a reputable surgeon as you shouldn't be cutting costs where your life is concerned. All the best.

    Protein, Protein, Protein

Greek yogurt makes a nice snack, especially if you're early out. Greek yogurt has double to protein of standard yogurt. HTH

    awake during intubation

I had a gastroscopy without anesthetic or any form of sedation. The procedure took ~15 minutes and I had it all without anything and it was survivable (plus it meant I was OK to drive myself home). I'm sure you'll be fine and that they can sedate you at the very least.

After 4 years our stomachs return to normal?

Yes, you mean interrupted stitches. If one goes it won't affect the others. I quoted Dr Watkins post from verticalsleevetalk here http://www.verticals...291-gps-update/ (the part on stitched is at the start of his 2nd paragraph). I'd love to know what my doc used but I tried calling Angeles Health and they weren't answering and I called during the working day local time!!

Why don't you try posting into that thread over on VST?

    Gallbladder Surgery

This thread may interest you http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/24691-gall-bladder-surgery-92011/page__pid__209509#entry209509 It's still surgery, so I guess you're going to feel sore, but it sounds like it's a lot less to deal with than the plication. HTH

Pain on right side lower back

I had a stabbing pain a couple of inches to the right of my belly button, which eventually went away by the time I was about a month out. I think it was some sort of referred pain as I didn't have an incision there. I hope your docs give both of you the all clear. Keep us posted as to how you get on.
