Hi Abbey, I don't want to sound dismissive but enjoy it while it lasts! I felt like that for about a month, but there's less to recover from with a plication. I've read that's what termed as your 'window of opportunity' for losing weight generally lasts only 6 months, so once you're closer to your old self you'll probably long to have these days back again.

You could also give Greek yogurt a try. It has double the protein compared to standard yogurt, is a lot thicker so less likely to be a slider food, and if you add agave to sweeten it, it'll cause less of a blood sugar spike.

Try searching for some of Rootman's posts, as he had Dr Almanza. -
Has anyone missed a period?
TijuanaPlication replied to oliviam's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Had that happen to me years ago when I was doing just good ol' WW. I think not eating much does it (I have the contraceptive injection now and don't get periods). -

Looks like you did indeed! -
I didn't have any sedation and was able to drive myself home. I had mine in the afternoon so had just half a day off work. You have be strong to forgo sedation, as having the scope down your throat really makes you retch BIG TIME!!

GPS and good as VSG?
TijuanaPlication replied to Lmom1980's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Good post! I'm not finding I have LOADS of restriction, but I've I've also read of VSGers having the similar issues! It makes me wonder if those same people would have issues with either - the only way to really know is if someone converted from GPS to VSG, but I guess that GPS is too new to have many/any having that done yet. -
When did you start mushies?
TijuanaPlication replied to oliviam's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I was oficially allowed mushies at 14 days, but I had scrambled eggs a couple of days before that date, as I sick of just liquids. I was fine and nothing happened. -
Hi, the incisions are way way smaller. I've seen RNY Gastric Bypass patients on youtube saying that when they had tummy tucks that was a lot more painful than their Weight Loss Surgery. RNY is a bigger op than VSG/GPS and a tummy tuck has to be a lesser deal than a c-section as they're not going through you abdominal muscle. So I'm sure you'll be just fine, as you've had more invasive surgeries and you came through them. I didn't really walk much the same day as my op as I way too sleepy from the anesthetic, but I started doing some walking from day two.

Total NSV and some
TijuanaPlication replied to LESLIEH's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratualtions and have a great time in Vegas! Take some VERY comfortable shoes, as I had what I thought were comfortable boots when I went there I walked so much I ended up with blisters that hurt worse than my incisions (I went there a few days after surgery). -

The healthiest snacks...
TijuanaPlication replied to curtsj01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BK Whopper Jnr without mayo comes in at 330 cals. I've not tried fast food yet since my op, but I'd probably remove half the bread to get the carbs and calories down. See here for further details http://eatthis.mensh...#sharetagsfocus -
Its been a little over a week since plication
TijuanaPlication replied to oliviam's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Hi Olivia, congrats on the surgery and losing 12lbs already!! I had a quite a bit of gurgling while I was swallowing stuff in the first couple of weeks. I was taking in a lot of air and the only thing I can put it down to is things being swollen, as it then just went away. I felt pretty tired for the first few weeks after surgery as anesthetic just does that to me, so hopefully in a few weeks that'll stop soon too. Mushies are great and even though it seems ages away, they'll come round in no time. All the best for your continued success and I look forward to hearing more from you. -
I can't see why it'd be a problem - I guess it depends how much you're able to eat. I'd check with the doc when you can start doing weights, but I wouldn't have wanted to do anything too strenuous for the first 6 weeks after my surgery. People report being able to eat a fair bit more after 6 months, so worst case I'm sure you'd be able to by then.

I had salad when I got to the mushies stage. I just made sure I totally chewed it to a complete puree and I didn't have any issues. I'd try just a very small amount to see how you get on and take it from there.

denied plication because of hiatal hernia, surgery tomorrow!
TijuanaPlication replied to maggieb's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I had Dr López Corvala do my plication (I didn't have a hernia) but he did a plication on a guy that was in at the same time as me who he did a hernia repair on. Try and get more info from the doc in case you have a really bad one or if there's a particular reason why he's refusing you, as he def does do plications on people with hernias. Hope that helps. Good luck and keep us updated how you get on! -
I had an epidural many years ago when I had an op on my leg. I didn't know I was getting the epidural and just woke up with it, so didn't have time to worry about it. I had the same op twice, once with an epidural and once without. With the epidural was great and it was bliss for ~20 minutes after I woke up.I'm sure you can get your surgeon to not give you one if you really don't want it though!

Congrats on your decision. Thankfully February is the shortest month, so your date will come round in no time!

Hi Brazcan, a lot of people can feel down initially. I remember coming round thinking OMG what have I done to myself!!! Weirdly a lot of people (including me) report feeling LOADS better on day 4, so hang in there. Just try and remember the reasons why you went into this. I wish you all the best and am sure in few days' time you'll feel a lot differently!

I'd check with your surgeon's office.

I'm glad to hear you're better. I thought a month was a long way out for a leak, but it's good to be aware that it is a possibility. -
