    New Question!!! Please answer??

I had anti-coagulants for 4 weeks after surgery. My BMI was 30 when I had my op and I have no mobility problems.

    burping and barfing

Hiccuping and burping really hurt early out but I think somewhere around day 10 it went away. I've not been sick or even felt nauseous since my surgery so I can't comment on that.

    Buh-bye! for this section only!!

Hi Looou, here's wishin you all the best. I'm sure you'll do great with VSG given you've done sooo well with the just the band. I'm sure you'll turn about to be a real loser!

    Heartburn

It seems so, there are a few Prilosec users on this thread http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/16087-stomach-acid/page__p__136071__hl__prilosec__fromsearch__1#entry136071

    Hair Loss

Hi y'all. Pamela's right. Check out this thread too http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/11433-hair-is-seriously-shedding/page__p__98719__hl__telogen__fromsearch__1#entry98719 The term you're looking for is Telogen Effluvium (see Tiffykins' and BlackBerryJuice's posts). If you search VST there are plenty of threads on Telogen Effluvium and hairloss (search is at the top right of your screen just below Gallery, Blogs, etc).

Can't you just tell them you're having surgery? That's all you have to do in the UK, they don't need to know the specifics over here as that stuff's private.

Welcome. I've not told anyone other than my DH and parents, so I didn't have to deal with people saying it's the easy way out.

I Became A Drunk After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I can totally relate. You've replaced one addiction with another one. For some people it's smoking, others it's shopping, drugs, sex and other stuff I've not even thought of. Are you still drinking? Maybe AA could help. I'm sorry to not be able to help more, but I think most of us on here can understand where you're coming from so you shouldn't beat yourself up about it - you just need to continue what you've started with this thread actually get some help. Maybe your PCP can refer you to someone re the tranquilizers and anti-depressants. At least you're admitting that you have issues and that's at least the first step, you just need to speak to someone that can help you further. All the best and I'm sending a big hug your way.

    Dumping Syndrome with the Sleeve

Theoretically it's not meant to happen but I've seen some people saying they it sometimes does. Another term for dumping is Alimentary Hypoglycemia (you'll get plenty of hits if you Google it) and you don't have to have WLS to get it. I think I suffered from it occasionally pre-surgery when I visited the dessert cart too often on holiday (I'd get cramp and diarrhea about 30 minutes after dessert).

2 month surgiversary and down 30 pounds!!

Tiffykins says the same thing. I tried to get some from my PCP but they wouldn't prescribe it for me, so I'm going to make an appointment to see a different doc soon to see if I can get some.

    Last minute questions

Can't speak about VSG, but slippers, a dressing gown, toiletries and a pill crusher are the basics. I was too sleepy in the days after surgery to want to read much. If you get Nexium, then a pill crusher's really useful as otherwise you have to grind the pill with your teeth and it tastes gross and you have to go brush your teeth as soon as you've got out everything you can LOL! Low cut bottoms and a bra with a narrow strap between the cups will help avoid your incisions (assuming they're placed similarly to GPS - maybe some VSGers can pipe in). All the best for next week and a speedy recovery!!

Going with VSG after Lapband slip

Welcome! Dr Alberto Aceves in Mexicali seems to be the go to surgeon for revisions (I think Mexicali may be a quieter border crossing so not end up too much further timewise). Search for him on here as he seems to be often recommended for VSG revisions. You want to go with the best surgeon you can get to minimize complications as revisions do have more complexity.

Statistics of weight regain without WLS?

I'm not disagreeing, but 95% is just a commonly quoted figure (type it in Google and it auto-completes whereas 99% doesn't). I agree, if I could've stayed at goal then I wouldn't have gone the WLS route. I got to goal twice with WW (about 10 years apart), I've also done Xenical and also got to goal with South Beach. Diets mess with your head and you end up more food obsessed than before!

2 month surgiversary and down 30 pounds!!

Hi amw, I feel the same. I think this surgery isn't as effective as the sleeve, as I've seen a few others on this forum complaining of the same thing whereas I've only seen one VSGer with the same complaint. I keep quoting these stats but I've not seen much else around. "overall weight loss was considered satisfactory in 78.6% of the patients who underwent gastric plication and in 97.5% of those who underwent sleeve." http://www.skrekas.n...mstatistics.htm Nearly 20% more people are destined to not achieve satisfactory weight loss with GPS than VSG!!

Statistics of weight regain without WLS?

95% of all diets fail - Google it although here's one link http://www.articlesb...il-2312835.html That's 95% for any BMI.

Glad to hear you're getting there!!

Please tell me I am not crazy

Hi Rekeca, sorry to hear about your problems. I don't know about a psych in the NC area, but have you thought about just trying to grin and bear it and be ultra positive when you go for your next eval? I don't wanna sound patronizing or anything but maybe you can do it just to get your date - just try and be positive and think of how well things can be afterwards. Have a read of NtvTxn's post for some inspiration http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/16115-10-months-ago-today-925-lbs-gone/ Good luck with your next appointment and I hope you get the outcome you're after.
  21. Hey Court, congrats. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well!

    Supportive Spouse

I was on a drip until 3 days post op as I was having a lot of difficulty getting anything down too. I felt A LOT better on day 4 though and I've ready a few people on here say the same thing. His stomach's really swollen and maybe he'd benefit from ice chips, I know they tasted like heaven to me in the first few days.

    acrylic nails?

I was allowed to keep my toe nail varnish on, which if I'd known I'd have put on a fresh coat before surgery but didn't bother as I figured I'd soon be removing it!! Needless to say I didn't feel up to doing it until ages after.
