I had one of my incisions that just would not heal. It was in the same place, at the waistline. I was concerned and went to see my pcp. He told me to just keep it clean and covered and it will go away. So that is what I did. Clean it with Hydrogen Peroxide, put Neosporin on it and cover with gauze or a bandaid. Within 3 days it was so much better!! I am 9 weeks post-op and it still shows alot more than the other incisions. But who cares, I have lost 42 lbs and feel great.
Good Luck,
Cathy

Yes, I also have Healthnet HMO. I am 55 years old and about 150lbs overweight. My biggest health problem is Hypertension. My legs and feet have been killing me for years, I had knee surgery about 5 years ago. Last November my PCP put me on disability because I could no longer walk around and do my job. He put the request in to my insurance and I swear within a few days I got the approval. My problem was the doctor was so far away. I called Healthnet and found that he was the only doctor contracted with them in SoCal. Since I had no other choice I went to meet with him. After having the pre-tests he wanted done, EKG, Chest X-Ray, Blood work, (Healthnet never asked for any evaluation, it was only the doctors office) I called the doctors office and scheduled my surgery for 3 weeks from then to give me time for the pre-banding diet. I was banded on 4/20 and feel really good, except I am really hungry. I go for my first fill on 5/12. The only thing I had to pay was $150 for things not covered by insurance. As far as I know I am covered 100%.
Boy was I rambling?!! Anyway, I hope I answered some of your questions. Good Luck!!

NONE of that is normal!!! Call your Doctor A.S.A.P.!!!!

I was just banded on 4/20, I live in Sherman Oaks and the only Dr. contracted with my insurance (Healthnet) was in Orange. Dr. Milton Owens. He is on Chapman right next to Chapman Medical Center. I think he was a good surgeon, just not real happy with his bedside manner!!! But today is day 9 and I really feel great!! Good Luck!!

Yes, naked!! But I was so excited about how big the gown was!! I wish they had gowns that big when you get a pap smear or mammogram!!! I think 4 people could have fit in it!!!

I have never heard anybody talk about what it feels like when you get a fill. I am getting my first one in two weeks and want to know if it hurts or what? Just curious

Where do you live? I am in California. I was banded only a week ago. Don't know if I can help but will try to ans your questions. Believe me I am no expert but at least I have been through it. You can email me at -
I was banded on 4/20 and after the two week pre-op diet I too am really sick of the protein!!! The thought of it makes me nauseaus!! My Nutritionist told me to get liquid Protein, so you only have to take a shot of it. I am going to the store tomorrow to get some. It has to be better!! Also, I am hungry all the time but my doctor still has me on liquids till I see him on 5/12!!!! The other thing is I have bad gas pains, which walking helps to aleviate. Anyway, good luck and I will post about the Liquid Protein when I get it.

I was banded on 4/20 also!! The only problems I have had are GAS pains!! It does help to walk, even if it around the house! I am hungry too, but those pains seem to be better every day. I know I am not getting my 64oz in but not really worried about that right now. The thought of another Protein Shake makes me sick. I am going to try the Liquid Protein, so you only have to take a shot of it. Good Luck to all!!!

I am 5 days post banding and would love to be on my pre liquid diet, cause at least I could eat something!!! Even if it was a piece of chicken!! I really thought I would not make it then, but I did. I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks and I guess that was my motivation. I have lost another 6 lbs since surgery. I am really hungry and have a lot of gas pains. I am having trouble with the thought of one more sweet thing being put in my mouth. My Protein shakes, sweet, my Crystal Light, sweet, Jello, sweet, etc. I am now getting Progresso Light chicken Noodle Soup and straining out the chicken and noodles, boy does that taste good!!! Along with a 1/2 glass of ff milk and I've got dinner!! Yeah!! But hang in there with the pre op stuff, you can do it!!!

Hi to everyone!! I was banded on 4/20 and was pretty scared for the surgery. My surgery started at 9:30 and I was awake at 11:00!! Home by 3:00!! Every day seems to get a little better. I to have a lot of gas but it only comes out one way (if you know what I mean?) I would love to burp!! It only comes out like a hiccup. Getting down 64 oz is not fun, I know I don't have that much, but my intake increases every day. Can't wait for Mushies!!! I am craving eggs. Good Luck to All!!

Hi, I am also kind of a neighbor, I live in Sherman Oaks. I was banded last week, 4/20/11 at Chapman Medical Center. It was far for me but it is the only place my insurance would cover. Dr. Milton Owens was my doctor. I feel pretty good except for the fact I am really hungry and tired of sweet things. Hope you do well. The surgery wasn't as bad as I thought, but these few days are. I admit I feel better every day!! Good Luck!!

I was banded on 4/11/11 & I too have had an ordeal with all of the sicky, icky, sweetie tastes & smells. A friend brought me an 80 calorie Creamy chicken Soup mix from Herbal Life that has 16g of Protein per serving. I mixed it with the chicken borth & it was a very nice taste difference PLUS since I was now able to keep some Protein down I have felt "fed" & so much better. There is a medical grade Protein Powder called unjury that come in flavors, but also comes "unflavored" & in a soup also. It is real nice, dissolves completely & immediately. I mixed it in some milk & was satisfied as well. Hope this helps you.
Thank you. I was hearing about that Unjury but not sure what it was. Do I get it at GNC? I am going to call my nutritionist tomorrow, can't wait!!

I don't know if because it is Easter and there are eggs everywhere, but I am craving eggs!!! Mostly scrambled!! I was just banded on 4/20 so I know it is too early. I feel I am starving!! I wish they made a Protein Drink that tastes like scrambled eggs!! I am soooooo tired of sweet things. The only time my stomach does not feel like eating is when I am laying down. The minute I sit up I want to eat!! Anyway, just wanted to vent!! Thanks

Is there another flavor of broth you could try? Maybe a beef broth? I know that's not very different, but it's hard to think of thin liquids that are savory instead of sweet. What if you got a can of Campbell's beef and vegetable Soup and just strained out the liquid? That would at least have a slightly varied flavor. Let me know if you think of anything else. I'm getting banded in a month!
Good luck! You'll get through this phase soon enough.
I just heard that about straining the Soups. It does sound good!! Thanks

I was banded 4/20/11. I have been feeling soooo hungry or maybe it is just gas!! I am not quite sure. That is getting better but today I feel a little nauseus and the thought of having one more Chrystal Lite or Protein Shake really makes me feel sick!! I have been having chicken broth but that is also getting old. Does anyone have any suggestions about something else I can drink that is NOT sweet.
Pre-surgical tests..???
