3 weeks post op and cheating... anyone else in my boat?
kellyanne replied to t.redfield's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!!! Did the same thing tonight!! banded on 4/22 and totally cheated tonight and did not even know I could. Everything went down fine. Yesterday strawberries would not even go down smooth so why did pizza tonight. I did this to prohibit eating and curb my intake. Soooo disappointed with myself! I guess it all depends on the person and what we can tolerate. Just so disappointed, was hoping I would go without a fill for at least 6 months, now I'm contemplating next week if this continues! Hope you get back on track tomorrow! Kelly -

I don't know what came over me. 3 weeks banded today. Lost 26lbs so far. Feeling restricted and pretty good so far. Ordered pizza for the kids and their friends tonight. Had not eaten dinner so heated up my first piece. Wend down fine, no crust. 1/2 hour later, heated up the second piece in a pan so nice and crispy. Went down fine, no reprocussions yet. What is wrong with me other than will power. Why was I able to get this down when feeling otherwise restricted from other foods?? Feeling so guilty!! Did anyone else do this? -

Holy Gas!!! Never in my life have I had so much. I was banded on 4/22 and to this day anything I eat produces an incredible amount of gas. Not so much through the top part of the body but down below. Its embarrassing because when you don't get rid of it, its so painful. So YES, its included in your lap band so far. Going for my post op tomorrow and will ask about it so will keep you posted !! Good luck keeping the gas in.....LOL Kelly

Got any good Mushy food ideas?
kellyanne replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your are too cute!!! I go for my post op tomorrow but my nutritionist told me to go on "mushies" on Monday. I LOVE butternut squash, chinese chicken from the chicken and broccoli, so soft an mushie! Still restricted but when eaten slow you know when to stop! scallops are my favorite...broiled with a little lemon and bread crumb. I can get down 2 which is very satisfying. Green Giant Italian string Beans chewed very tiny. Still the 98% fat free campbells cream of chicken with skim plus milk and some shredded sharp cheddar in it. I have also had a little fat free frozen yogurt which as been wonderful! good luck!!! kelly 21.5 lbs down since 4/22 -
Hello Fellow April Bandsters! I was banded on the 22nd. As of this morning, I have lost 20lbs!!! My first couple of days were pretty bad pain wise. The gas was horrific and I've had 2 children and 2 kidney stones and it was worse than that! Back to work on day 5. I've been on soups, Jello, sf pops, sf pudding until yesterday! Tried a little egg and a couple of pieces of sausage. Extremely small bites just to test the waters. Went well! At night, I ate a broiled scallop and maybe 2 teaspoons of mashed potatoes. Also went well. Today, left over scallops, one at a time! I am still drinking my Protein shakes, Isopure bananas and cream. Love them! One thing I do with the Campbells 98% fat free cream of chicken Soup is, I add shredded white cheddar cheese and skim plus milk. Its delicious and satisfying. I've heard other people do that to their cream of potato and broccoli soups also. Not ready for exercise yet, just a little walking! Maybe after 6 weeks. Good luck to everyone and look forward to hearing more about everyones suggestions and stories of success! Kelly

Slight cheat on liquids but well worth it!!
kellyanne replied to kellyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly....I know its bad but I am 5 full days post op and I ate a quarter meatmall tonight and I was fine. I made this huge pot of sauce, sausage and meatballs and just couldn't resist. I just needed something, so I'm sure your crackers and beans are fine. Good Luck! Kelly -
Banded April26th and the gas pains OMG!!!!
kellyanne replied to mstan76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Friday and by far the gas pains were the worst thing I'd ever had experienced! I'd have 2 babies and 2 kidney stones before I'd go through that again. I paced for 16 hours with no relief! My surgeon said gas x only helps when the gas moves to the intestinal track, not when its in the chest and I tried it with no relief. Excuse my french....but when I could start farting is when I felt better. Once it moved down and it was coming out, I was so much better. I am 5 days post op and still have a lot of gas but it moves now. I just warned everyone and just said WTF, I just went through major surgery to get healthy and skinny...."I'm gonna fart". So good luck to you and what you are feeling is very normal! Hope you recover quickly Kelly -

Single Incision Lap Band Procedure
kellyanne replied to newlady1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 4/22. My first option was to have a one incision surgery. However, my surgeon told me of the pros and cons and agreed that once he got in there with the camera, he would make the optimal decision for me. He said it would really depend on my anotomy. He also said single incision prolonged the surgery approx. an hour if my anatomy was not right for that kind of procedure. He also said there was a lot more gas involved in the procedure. So.....given those facts, I left it up to him. My surgery was about 45 min, 4 fairly painless incisions except where the port is and I am happy that I did not have anymore discomfort than I do now. Its a personal choice but I left it up to my doc and feel he made the right decision! Good Luck! Kelly -

So I started my creamy soups yesterday....sooooo exciting NOT. Well today as I opened my 98% fat free cream of chicken, I stared at it for awhile thinking about how I could possible give it a kick to make it more enticing to eat. So I added ground pepper and........shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese. It melted down with the soup and it was awesome! I actually ate the whole can throughout the day and was very satisfied! If anyone else has some pointers without going crazy, I would love to hear them, otherwise I'm sticking to my cream of chicken and pistachio fat free, sugar free pudding. Have a great night! Kelly -
Initial Restriction?
kellyanne replied to Little Teapot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 4/22 and no saline in my band. There is definitely restriction without fill. I don't think I will be getting a fill anytime soon. I can eat very little and I have not hunger. Hope that helps and good luck! Kelly -
Wake up with no band!!!!
kellyanne replied to mandyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear you are ok and there are options down the road. Most important is your health right now so take care of yourself! Did they say where the infection came from? Was it band related? Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery from this ordeal! Kelly
