  1. Having a hard time fighting head hunger. I would love to hear everyone's trick on how they fight it.

This may sound ridiculous but I just reach down and feel my hip bones or put my hands around my waist or look at myself sideways in a mirror and feel proud of the hard work I've done and then I'm able to say, "nope, don't need that...I'm not hungry!" Sometimes when I go grocery shopping and I see something that I would of bought pre Gastric bypass, I say to myself, "I choose not to buy that." I don't ever say, "I can't have that." I can have anything I want. I'm an adult and I make my own choices! I chose a new lifestyle and I love the choices I make now! It's all a head game isn't it?

I love that! I need to do that. Great idea. It really is all in my head. I will stop and ask myself if I'm really hungry a lot of time. Or I will try to convince myself that I am just thirsty. It's still a battle though. Thank you for those tips! I'm going to give it a try!

  2. Is it from where the port was? I am still very tender right there. If someone pokes me there when playing around, it hurts.
  3. I was banded in 2010 and had a revision to the RNY in October 2014. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE!!!!! I was in the hospital for three days when I had both surgeries. With the band I could barely get out of bed because I hurt so bad. With the revision to RNY, 4 hours after my surgery I was walking laps around the hospital. Of course you are a little tender, but it was so much easier than the previous surgery. I also had a c-section in 2005 when I had my daughter, the RNY was easier than that. Make sure you go into the surgery with the mentality that you are going to come out of the surgery as a winner, that you've got this. As long as you set your mind to it, you will do great. My surgeon has done many surgeries and he said that I made it look easy. Honestly, my goal was to be released from the hospital before my 3 day mark was up. Their policy trumped my wanting. LOL! Also, with the band I didn't lose any weight. All my weight-loss was before the lapland surgery and after the RNY surgery. A total of 89 pounds, with 50 of those being post op for the RNY. I've kinda of hit a plateau, but that is because my family and I took two months to move from Georgia to Alaska. On the road eating isn't easy or healthy. I hope it works out for you!!!!
  4. I see that your surgery date is getting close. I hope you're excited. I had the revision from band to RNY done back in October. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I have already lost close to 50 pounds, and that's with me doing a move from GA to AK and having to eat on the road for three months. You are going to be amazed at how much easier it is to have the RNY than the band. I wish you the best of luck!!!

    Deciding on a surgery

I have the Lapband and I have beat the band with no problem. I am actually working with my doctor to have a second surgery and have the band removed and to get the gastric bypass. With the sleeve, it's still too easy to eat the bad stuff. I'm going with the gastric bypass to help keep control of my eating habits. I have three cousins that had the bypass done over ten years ago and they all have kept off over 100 pounds each. And I have a fourth cousin that had the bypass a year ago. They all say it was the best decision of their life. I originally went with the band because I was scared of the bypass. My doctor also didn't educate as well as my new doctors. Now the bypass doesn't seem so bad after all. Good luck with your decision!
  6. I can't tell you how relieved I am that I hadn't done wrong. I also found out recently that this same surgeon stopped doing fills on other people. I went for almost a year with him making me think it was me doing something wrong. It's been a year since my last fill because of trying to find a new surgeon. We are a military family and my doctors here told me I had to go to another base about 3 hours away. It seemed like one obstacle after another. But I did my research and found a local doctor, and I can't wait until Friday. Thanks for giving your thoughts. Hearing it from someone makes things seem not so bad
  7. I found out not too long ago that I have a 14cc band. For over a year my surgeon told me that I had a 10cc band. Once my band got up to holding 8cc's my surgeon stopped giving me fills. He told me it was unsafe for me to have any more fills. I went 8 months without a fill. Then I met with the chief of the bariatric department, and he discovered that I had a 14cc band and it could really hold 15cc's. I moved from that location and I found a new surgeon that I go to meet Friday. Has anybody else had this problem? What would you do if you had this problem? I have been very down about this situation, but have a lot of hope for Friday's appointment. And I have no restriction, so that doesn't help either.
  8. Today I went in for a band fill. I've always been told that I have the 10cc band. And after not having good results with my original surgeon, I switched to his chief of surgery. So, the chief of surgery comes in and tells me that he has been doing research and he thinks that I have a 14cc band. Sure enough, after testing my band I have a 14cc band. This is very upsetting. It's been 8 months since I have had a fill because my original surgeon didn't want to help me. This time the chief gave me 2cc's and now I am up to 10cc's. I really hope I get some restriction this time. I've never had any restriction with food and this is very discouraging since my surgery was over a year ago. Has any one had any of these problems? I would love to hear your story.
