PCP won't do 3 month tests!!!!
wareagle40 replied to wash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery in Mexico last weekend but I fully anticipate my PCP treating me the same way. I say find a new Primary. Why stay with someone with such an attiture. Mine has always had an attitude and I didn't really care because I don't have any regular issues. I only go with the flu or cold. I asked the nurse last time I was in there if she felt the Dr would fire me and she said probably. So I'm going to start making some calls this week to have a new primary lined up. -
What were you eating at a week out?
wareagle40 replied to ozzy22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 2/19/2011 and I am eating about the same. I get my 64oz of water in I also get my protein 40-60 grams. I eat a ton of popsicles buy my are 15 calories surger free. I bought som French Onion broth at Walmart so I eat that or chicken broth for dinner. I don't like Jello so I can't force myself to eat it. I have tried but can't do it. I feel great. Just a little sore. -

Maybe as I get closer I get more nervous
wareagle40 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is scheduled for this Saturday with Dr. Rod. I was very happy with my decision to use him. I had done a lot of research at OH and other websites and have heard nothing but good. However, since I have been on this website I hear so much more about Dr. Aceves, and Ramos-Kelly. I was still fine with my decision until today. I emailed my facilitor some questions and her response was it was in the first email I sent you. Go back and read it... I understand that emails can come across wrong but that just pissed me off. When I first made this decision my prayer was if this is not meant to be then let me know God. I have not felt that it wasn't meant to be until maybe now. I know I should not judge the Doctor on the facilitor but I do. I am 5 days from surgery and she will not answer my questions. He is more expensive than than Aceves and Ramos-Kelly and if I cancel I will lose the 500 deposit and 600 in airfare. I think I'm just getting nervous and looking for reasons to back out. I'm not nervous about the lifestyle change just the surgery itself. So any words of wisdom. I am definately one of those people if you make me mad I bite off my nose to spite may face so please point out if that is what I'm doing here. -

As usual I over reacted. I sent her an email last night telling her how nervous this was making me and that I did not appreciate being blown off. She called me first thing this morning and apologized and said she had a death in the family yesterday and was rushing to get out the door. She assured me she was there for me and had the driver call me to tell me what he looked like and what he was driving and exactly how the pick up would work. I feel awful for even posting the above and if I knew how to remove I would. She has always been nice and helpful. I am just trying to find fault in everything I guess because I am getting so nervous. I am a compulsive planner and if I don't know every detail of the arraignments I freak out. My friends let me plan everything when we are going on a trip because they know they don't have a chance of surviving our friendship otherwise . My friend that is going with me told me last night this is like every trip you take calm down and you will find out. Not everyone works at my pace. So once again don't judge Dr. Rod's staff on my post. SO 4 MORE DAYS. -
I will have to try that. My Vit D was a 12.

I had to get a new phone so I lost your email. please resend so I can update you. 6 more days. Whoo HOO

Yeah I wrote my son's braces off last year and it's just listed as medical/dental on the tax return. So the IRS has no way of knowing what is was for unless they ask..

It only matters if yu get audited. My accountant said write it off...If you get audited they may or may not allow it but no way to know. Heck, I'm going to Mexico for surgery.. I'm a risk taker..lol

I'm with you the Wheybolic Amplified at GNC rocks. I'm not that impressed with the vanilla or Cookies and Cream but the chocolate. I have to beat my family away from it. I use Almond Milk unsweetened. so 1 scoop(20 grams of protein) and 2 cups almond mikl. 180 calories.

I think it might not be a bad idea for you to talk to a counselor about your food addictions and make sure you can overcome them with the surgery. You don't sound to me like you are willing to follow the restrictions after surgery and I would hate to see you really mess yourself up. It's like smoking. I have quit numerous times over the last 25 yrs but in October I said DONE... I'm fat, turning 40 and killing myself. At that point I had not done the research on this surgery so I had resolved myself to being fat so I though take out one of the killers and I have not looked back. I was not ready the other times. Good luck on making the right decision for you.

I agree she probably meant tall but once you have a sore spot it festers when anyone gets near it... I had a speech impedemint growing up and there are still a few words that I just can't say at 40. When I go to a drive thru and they say I can't understand you it just crawls all over me. I always say is it that you can't hear me or your can't understand me? Such simple little words can make you mad. So when people refer to you as big a size 16 at 6'0 can only mean tall. It's something I might have said not knowing that you had been overweight before. If you were overweight when I saw you I would say the tall one. Good job on the weight loss.

Going into Mexico...???
wareagle40 replied to 2bslimkim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought it up when I scheduled mine. I am going to Juarez which just sounds insane. I debated back and forth about Tijuana with the facilitor(Jessica). She said they have not ever had any real problems. The hospital in Juarez in 10 min from the El Paso airport and they take you in a shuttle and bring you back. She said you never see anyone outside of the hospital. She would not recommend going out shopping or site seeing in Juarez but to be in a shuttle for ten minutes I just came to the conclusion it is what it is. The hospital in Juarez is just so much nicer. I wanted to be at a full service facitilty. Not a clinic I wanted cardiologost and whatever else could possible ever be needed right there. So that is why I went with Juarez. She said were Dr. Rod operates in TJ is across the streeet from the hospital but the flights were more and I couldn't get them the days of surgery and I was going to have to book hotels and it was just easier to go to Juarez. So don't really know if I answered your question or not but that is how I decided. I've prayed about if fell comfortable. That's really all you can do. -
Tiff, I have smoked for 25yrs and in October I bought the electric cigerettes and they worked great. It fulfilled my need when driving or talking on the phone. After about a month I just picked them up randomly and have not touched them since December. Not saying that I have completely quit with the electronic cigs I'm sure I will pick them up again but I don't think I will ever smoke a regular cig again. I have quit 100 times over the years just like losing weight but the electronic cigs did it for me. Hope the info helps.

To Pre-op Diet .. or Not to Pre-Op Diet
wareagle40 replied to brazcan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet is just low carb High Protein. It's not liqueds or anything. Mine is for 2 weeks and my surgery is still 2.5 weeks off but I started it when I set the date and I've already lost 12 lbs. go to GNC and talk to them about Protein Shakes if you dont like CIB. I got the amp it is kinda high in calories so I had to change from skim milk to unsweetened Almond but it was worth it. The shakes are so good. Also, if you go the first week of the month and get a gold card everything is 20% off. -
From what I have gathered on these site is Aceeves, Ramos-Kelly, & Rodriguez are all equally good. I chose Dr. Rod. because of his experience. He has done more surgeries than the others but my understanding is none of them have had leaks. Dr. Almanaz(sp) not highly recommended and the facilities resemble a back alley surgery. So I would definately stick between the Dr's listed above.
-
I just email from Dr. Rod and he also uses the 32in bougie oversewn. someone asked above if that meant your stomach was smaller that 32in. He said no it is 32in.
-
Glad you posted that... I thought people had said to use straws to avoid the air. I might have been putting myself in unnecessary pain. lol
-
I have not had surgery yet but a lot of people have responded to that question and suggested using a straw to elimate air and gasx. Hope someone with more knowledge responds. Good luck
-
I guess I was asking both. But I spoke to my facilitator and she explained what the bouge was and said she didn't know for sure what size he used but she was pretty sure the stitching was 32. She forwarded to the dr to respond. I had just not heard anyone mention either one of those and I have been researching for months.
