awww sweetie *hugs* I'm so sorry you're having a hard time with this! I was going to tell you that Dr. Campos told me to take Dramamine and that helped me out a lot when I was sick. It's really hard at first but I promise it gets easier and you'll make it. Just keep plugging away, one foot in front of the other and one day at a time. I keep asking myself this and I keep hoping the answer is NO! Because if it IS bad and does continue they're going to want to convert me to the RNY. Acid is dangerous and very bad for a recovering tummy, make sure you tell your doctor so they can get a handle on it ASAP. Dr. Campos (and Dr. Aceves) put me on a combination of zantac 150 and the nexium but others here have just raised their doses of Nexium OR tried other OTC meds and it worked for them. I know it's frustrating, believe me, and painful and it tastes disgusting when it comes up into your mouth. Really, I keep hoping that it stops, I don't want to have a revision. I have heard in most people it stops around the 3rd month. **fingers crossed!** Renee`

I waited a little over a week. My mom came out to visit and brought her car (a very comfy new Cadillac). I couldn't drive my own car for about a month but that's because my Mustang is a 5 speed and pushing the clutch in killed me. However...there's a good thing about this! When I DID get in my car my belly wasn't as close to the steering wheel anymore and I could push my seat up a bit so I was really excited about that LOL Renee`

All I thought about, all I talked about, all I dreamed about...gah, it was horrible until I had it done. Then the closer it got the more I obsessed about it and the mood swings, eesh! I wore a pair of loose shorts (like the athletic kind, no jeans! lol) and a baggy T-shirt. I felt better in my clothes than I would jammies. If you do get pj's, they told us to bring the top and bottoms kind so they don't have to lift up your whole gown to see the incisions and drain. Renee`

Tnt is right, unless it was sugar / maple cured etc. Some bacons have sugars added. Normally proteins don't affect your blood sugar IF they're not cured with sugar added to them, watch those ingredients. Also, things eaten with fats (the good kind please) don't seem to make sugars rise so quickly...something to do with buffering it a bit as it goes into the bloodstream.

If you make bad choices and eat cheesecake all day long (or any other crap food that's high in sugar and calories) you will gain the weight back. The good news is, you'll always have your tool to fall back on. Just go through the process again! Follow the post-op diet. Me, I would go through all the phases starting out with liquids and moving on through the stages. I'm anal, so that's just me. Dr. Aceves told me the same thing I'm telling you, your tool won't fail you but you can fail it! Renee`

This surgery isn't a cure for diabetes, but you know that. Oatmeal is a carb so if you have a carb sensitivity you may have to be careful. Something to talk to your dr about that's for sure. Sorry Renee`

You can get mad at me all you want but there are some doctors that have had more deaths than others and THAT can't be refuted or pushed aside. People should be afraid of some surgeons. There are butchers everywhere, especially where I live (las vegas).

You're welcome. I too would advise Dr. Aceves but that's just my own opinion. I wanted the least possible chance of having a complication because I'm super paranoid about stuff. I didn't want to get home and then have an 'oh ****!" moment and need urgent care. I also wanted to be in a hospital, not a clinic. Thankfully I chose right because I did have problems. Not complications, just problems and it could have been really bad had I not had a doctor near me that figured it all out. Just remember no matter what anyone says this is MAJOR surgery. You have one stomach and one life, think about it. IF something goes wrong you want to rest assured that they not only have the knowledge to help you, but the equipment. This is why I would never go to a strip mall type clinic to have major surgery. These were MY standards and I realize that everyone is different. I also realize that it is hard to wait until you have more money. I wanted mine done yesterday, hell last YEAR, just get it done! LOL To be honest I just want people to get quality care. This surgery is stressful enough, just making the decision is hard and stressful. You don't need the added stress of being in a loud house to recover. You need medical supervision...just in case. I don't mean YOU personally, I mean people in general. It's worth it to wait just a little bit longer until you do have the money. YOU are worth it. Complications and infections can be very very costly, not to mention the cost of losing money while you're out of work. Huge decision. I was extremely fortunate on several levels. I'm a stay at home mom and that allowed me the time to recover. My family was extremely supportive and helpful (gah, almost too much so! lol). I had a doctor that genuinely cared about my well being and still does. So much more, but there's a huge storm headed for Vegas right now and it's starting to lightning. With my luck, it'll zap my pc (not really, y'all aren't that lucky! ) Renee`

Just a quick question, what IS their complication rate? Done any research in that area? This whole GROUP of doctors I mean. What is their death toll? I'm curious to see. I actually got an email from a friend of mine (and THAT is the group I was talking about in my videos) and she was telling me some of the things that were going on where SHE was. I was shocked and horrified and yet, she seemed to be ok with the whole experience. Call me spoiled because I went to Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos where in the midst of my anesthesia / withdrawls he spent about 1 1/2 HOURS in my room eye to eye with me trying to get me to come out of it so that he could help me. THAT is hands on, THAT is a caring and concerned doctor. Even after my rough and rocky start, I still wouldn't hesitate to send anyone there. I had extenuating circumstances and I was very honest about that and up front. I told everyone that yes, I had a doctor induced (and suggested) dependency to narcotics. Most people with painful illnesses that are prescribed narcotics are the same way so by no means does this make me a drug addict...please...I've already been slammed enough on this. At any rate, I wouldn't send anyone to Dr. Kelly or Almanza based on what I've heard, what I've read and what I've researched on my own. That's my opinion. It doesn't seem safe to me. They are not (apparently) the only ones that use a 'recovery house' and like I said before, that thought terrifies me. I'm clarifying here a bit because when I'm angry, rarely do I make sense...sorry. My fingers type faster than my brain processes apparently. At any rate, no, I wouldn't send anyone to your group of doctors either. That is my opinion only. YES people have come back from there just fine. What about the ones that don't? It scares me. Now, I WAS talking about your group of doctors when I said that my friend was there and they didn't check vital signs on any of the patients at night and my friend was actually helping people get up and walk because the nurse was watching t.v.....wow. I'm absolutely sure that the nurse would have gotten up had she / he been asked but my friend is very shy and didn't ask. She also told me the house smelled to high heaven like food (for the staff) and that it was nauseating to some. To me, that's really not a problem except that the people in that house that were recovering just had wls. I mean, my friend that went with me had a bag of chips with her when they wheeled me back to my room and Dr. Aceves wasn't thrilled with that. He was polite, but still, he wasn't too happy and he did let her know and also told her that he has performed MANY revised RNY's because people have gained their weight back and she needed to be more careful about what she was eating. Hope this clarifies my statement a bit. Still, for the record, no...I wouldn't go to this group of doctors. Sorry, just my opinion and what I feel comfortable with. Renee`

Actually, there were TWO deaths recently there and they were wls related, obviously. Want opinions? Ok, I'll be honest. I think this place should be SHUT DOWN. I know people are going to hate on this, but look into it, these weren't the first deaths this surgeon has had. Experienced? In WHAT? Certainly not performing surgery correctly and SAFELY. I'll admit it, I did a YouTube video on this YESTERDAY and yes, I was talking about THIS DOCTOR. DO NOT go to a 'chop shop' when you're dealing with your body. You have one stomach, one life...you're worth it to have a competent surgeon. Your life is worth more than bargain shopping and then a reason to have serious buyers remorse. I think it's insane to shove people into a HOUSE to recover after a major surgery. Does that even make sense to you? Seriously? YES some people have gone there and have FORTUNATELY had great results and lived through it. But let me ask you this, what about the 17 year old girl that didn't go home? What about the mother of 3 children that DIDNT go home? This was recently... If I was scheduled with this place I would RUN, not walk away and demand my money back and save up for another surgeon.
