I don't think the size of your stomach is what matters, if you aren't hungry, if you eat no more than 800 calories... Nothing has probably stretched! Well, it isn't the size of the stomach that makes you stall! They normally are combined factors like the amount of calories, the quanity of meals, the amount of exercise, the type of food you eat,.. And the fact that your body is adjusting to all the news it received! It probably is "just" a stall, it is annoying that it happened so early! But, as you probably read when other people met the stall, talk to your nutritionist, try to increase your exercises and do not give up! The scale will move again! 29 puonds in just over a month aren't bad at all!!!

They even made me take off my wedding ring... It's all metal and you can't have it on, in case something goes wrong and they need to use the defibrillator. Of corse nothing will go wrong, it's a very remote possibility, but still I don't think you want to risk it! Nipples are VERY close to where the defribillator should be used... When I had my tongue pierced I used plastic piercings instead of the metal ones... Why don't you ask in the shop if they can change them? You don't know exactly when your surgery will be, right? I'd let them heal more and when you get closer to the your date I'd go for plastic. It's just an idea... Check with your surgeon first, it surely isn't the first time he's got to deal with piercings!

Good to know that they are all the same! A couple of weeks... When you get your stitches out you feel much more comfortable moving around...

I have diabetes 1 so for me s/f stuff is compulsory, but I think that that helps you a lot with your diet. The first months you are supposed to lose a large amount of weight, so why should you get extra calories from sugar, when you can get the same things sugar free? And I read that many people, being obese, also get diabetes 2, which does go away after a great weight loss, so I guess it's just better for everyone, diabetes or not, to keep the sugar level down... Sugar causes cravings as well and you don't want that either. (btw in the morning I do have some sugar, because of my bloodsugar being very low at that time: I have a light pudding sweetened with artificial sweeteners AND sugar, but it only has 95 kcal. This hasn't killed my diet at all, I guess if you do things in moderation you are fine)

Great to hear good news! My family was annoying when I told me, but now they see me happy and they are happy. Hubby and mum actually told me (after surgery) that I've made the right choice. (I would have liked the support before, but now it's better than never).

People are just funny sometimes... Or maybe they just watch too much TV. You should have laughed and told him that... you did not swallow a magic bean! That's why I didn't tell anyone (except for like 5 people), they all think I am on a diet now, which I am anyway, so whatever...

Congratulations for everything! You look amazing (and really happy)! -
Oh good, it is good to have a short haircut that will grow nicely! And thank you Wildorchids for the suggestions, I do not have grey hair yet, but I'll look for brown with gold in it, I promise!
-
Congratulations! Margaret, you'll get one soon too!

You did great going back and getting your money back! At least hair grows back! Have you found another hairdresser that can help you out? Look what I found online (naybe you've done your research too, but it seemed like a good idea: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=104677 ) Or here you get a free blow dry coupon with a hair cut and restyle: http://www.qype.co.uk/place/1657583-The-Beauty-Spot-Salons-Abu-Dhabi You are not alone anyway! My hairdresser decided to try a new dyeing technique on me. The result: I've got pink hair on half of my head. I didn't really notice at the beginning, I thought it was more like mahogany, until everyone I met was like: "Wow, you've got pink hair now!". I'm going to a wedding in April, so I guess I am going to buy a cheap colour at the supermarket and dye my hair brown again...

First of all congratulations on your 100 lbs weight loss! Did you really expect her to say something nice??? Now she's losing the only reason she had to criticise you, she'll have to find something else to do... I am sure she's annoyed now that she's not going to be the only skinny lady in the office! And that's a great reward for you! I know I am mean, but I'd be just happy ... The fact that she isn't saying anything just shows her annoyance!

10 days aren't going to change anything. If you feel safer with your sister around just wait for her. It's great to have someone you love with you. I would have waited 10 days if my hubby/mother/sister had told me to (shame they didn't and I had to travel without them, but that's another story! )! -
Dear Amber, my BMI was "only" over 34 when I got sleeved, but I wish I had it done 10 years ago (I am 30 now). I would have saved myself a lot of health troubles. And I would have been happier. It does change your life, but before the sleeve I lived for food, right now I have so many other interestests! Like my skinny friends I eat and drink just a little bit and have more time for other stuff. I really wish I had it done before...

I used to dream about food every time I was on a diet (half of my life, then!)... I always woke up feeling guilty for all I "ate". Right now I am not having those dreams anymore, just lots of nightmares with shootings, blood, the end of the world and other ridiculous stuff...

Shaving stomach area before surgery?
bilka replied to chrismta's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The night before surgery the nurse came in wanting to shave my belly... I was like "???", she looked at my belly and decided I didn't need it. Of course it is different for a man, but, as the others said, they will shave your belly if they need to, so do not worry about it yourself! -
How do you feel 4 weeks out?
bilka replied to DazyKrazie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am about 1 month out. I feel great, I am still not comfortable with semi-solid food (mashed fish for example), but it's getting better day by day. I also still have problems drinking enough water (I hate non sparkling water), but again it's getting better, I am having jello, broth, vitamins with water,.. -

Anyone else have problems holding down food ?
bilka replied to dudeman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same problem. Luke warm baby food is fine, liquids are fine, semi-solid food is a disaster. So I just eat less than half a portion of what I should in order to get my stomach used to food. I should eat 125 grams salmon (mashed with a fork), so I prepare it, I mash it, mix it with light mayo and eat a third of it. Then I don't allow myself to go throw up. I stay at the table and wait until the annoying feeling is gone. In the evening I do eat baby food, otherwise I won't get many calories in, but I do at least one semi-solid meal per day. My hubby (doctor) is the one who gave me the idea: just have a even smaller portion than what you should and DO NOT GO vomit. Just don't. -
When I was in Athens right after the sleeve I bought a very small sized skirt. A medium (European medium). That's my final goal: I have to fit in it. It's one size bigger than my sister-in-law (who is VERY skinny, almost anorexic size, even if she does eat regularly), she tried it on. So far it's up to my knees, but I have all the time I want to reach the size. Right now it hangs in my closet, maybe in Summer 2012 I'll be able to wear it! It's just over a year away! This is the skirt (with a cat and a dog): http://www.heelshop.gr/index.php/collection/bottoms/24-1403.html

How long were you in the hospital?
bilka replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was supposed to leave after the second night as well. I stayed an extra night because I hadn't eaten nor drunk anything and I had had problems with the drain...
