Not going to be a habbit but when can I have some Pizza?
bilka replied to Biiggmike23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pizza... I had it like 6 weeks out. I heard that pizza in the USA is quite thick and completely different from the original Italian one. Here we have it were thin and very... How to explain? Soft, like juicy, the thin bread of the pizza is soaked in liquid tomato sauce, that's why it was so easy to eat and digest! Sometimes I eat it, I avoid the crust (which is thick) and get simple toppings like just mozzarella, or mushrooms (no weird things like salami, for example)... It didn't hurt my diet nor my digestion... -
I am gaining weight????
bilka replied to Biiggmike23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with doggz109: hide the scale! I get my hubby to do it, I am allowed to weigh myself only on Saturdays, otherwise I would go insane. Also skinny people's weight fluctuates, it is absolutely normal! -
I had Gastric Sleeve surgery on 4-18-11

Wow, 22 lbs in 9 days is a lot, good on you! And, of course, keep us updated! -
Look at you! Wow, it's impressive! You must be so proud of yourself! I watched the video, your change is amazing! Good job, congratulations!!!
-
I'd try it on anyway... Just to see how it looks! And, if you want, you can share a picture with us... I personally would try it on every 10 pounds I drop, just to see the difference, eheh... If you don't like it anymore you still have time to sell it and get a new one...

You look fantastic! How can you expect people not to touch that cute belly?! :preggers: You look so happy!

Trying to tell my inner voice to shut it!
bilka replied to pasquini's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Isn't there a way to KILL that annoying inner voice? :cuss::smash4: Mine has tred to sabotage me too but I chose to ignore it at some point. "No, I could never do it on my own, othersiwe I'd already be thin. No, this is not the easy way out. No, this doesn't mean I have a very weak personality". These were my answers to it. Prepare your answers! Are you sure you'd save money? What about the money you'll have to spend on your health if you don't take care of youself now? Mmmmh... -
My diabetologist shook his head when I told him (not that I see him every day, I had an appointment with him this afternoon). He said he would have said "no" to that surgery. He thinks I made the best choice with the Sleeve. Have you talked to your diabetologist?

Why should we be any different from men with diabetes 1, or from any other people in general??? Because of the insulin injections we do get hungrier than "normal" people do, but I guess it happens with any kind of surgery, not only VSL. Did she tell you why? And anyway: will you have the chance to choose your own surgery? I'd go and listen to what the surgeon has to say, but still... I'm not that far out, but already 2 1/2 months and everything is GREAT. I LOVE the sleeve. I am still off the pump, I have decided I will put it back after Summer, I want to enjoy the hot weather without it and get my belly completely heeled. I'm interested in what the surgeon will say. Of course everyone assumes you have type 2, also here everyone does the same. And! We get less than what people with type 2 get. Ridiculous! I already wrote here that I could have got surgery here with a BMI of 35 if I had had type 2 instead of type 1. But type 1 doesn't get it. :censored: Everything is always type 2, I looked up on the internet and most of the articles are about type 2. Being in the USA at least you get the chance to consult different centres, even if they might be farther away from your place. I'd do that if I were you. Let us know how it goes on!

WOW!!! What a change! Congrats!

Congratulations on your date! Less than a month away!

Hello Billie Jo and welcome! I think we all shared your fears before surgery. I "only" have to lose 81 lbs and it's going down slowly compared to other people, but it keeps going down and it's an amazing feeling. You will lose because you have decided to turn your life aorund. And you'll love yourself more when you start seeing all the weight coming off. I still can't imagine myself weighing 128 lbs, I still can't believe I am going to get there one day seriously! All you feel is absolutely normal. About anesthesia... I don't know... I wasn't scared at all and I remember it as the best dreamless sleep of my life!

Brilliant!!! :bounce:

The only thing I seemed to tolarate straight after getting out of the hospital was iced coffeine free coffee with skinny milk and sweetener. Once I got home I had broth often and found out the only way I could drink water was adding effervescent vitamins to it and I still do it twice a day. I also had s/f jell-o. I couldn't tolerate popsicles and still can't (weird)

Keeping a diary and sharing it with friends is helping me too! The idea of having to write everything down is really keeping me from doing anything stupid. Congratulations on the weight loss!!!

Not even a month out and you have already improved your health so much! It is great! Keep enjoying your life and your playtime with the kids!!! -
First try tonight was a trash. Shame. I am going to try again tomorrow, I think I know what I did wrong, though.
