So far I have been able to eat anything I want with no problem. Grilled talapia is absolutely wonderful. I am eating chicken salad, tuna salad, pimento cheese. I actually ate 1/2 cheese enchilada the other night when I went out to eat with my family. Could be why I'm not losing........ Good luck to you.

Unfortunately they have 13 gms of carbs. How many carbs do you have per day? My NUT told me just to focus on Protein right now - not calories, fat or carbs?

Just wanted to share a new food find I found. Revival Baked Soy Protein Chips. They are kind like a potato chip with the consistency of a cracker. They come in a variety of flavors such as Rev-It-Up Ranch, Lightly Salted Sunshine, Roasted Garlic & Herbs Goodness, Salsa Sass, Sea Salt & Vinegar Voyage Sour Cream & Onion Dream, Oh My! Apple Pie!, Jalapeno & Cheddar Cha! Cha! and Honey Mustard Heaven. They have 70 % less fat than potato chips & fewer carbs. One bag has 110 calories and 7 gms of protein. They are actually not too bad. I ordered them online from bariatriceating.com

Did you actually eat the bread? Did it go down well?
-
Hi Tiffykins! I see a lot fo ppl who try to stick to the 600 - 800 calories but I am confused about something. It takes me 4 Protein shakes to get almost 60 protein grams. The calories in those 4 shakes is 600 calories. So I guess that leaves 200 calories for actual food right? I've been trying to eat more fish to get some of the protein grams. How did you do it? Thanks for your help.

Google "the world according to egg face". She has lots of recipes to be made in muffin tins. I also made a meatloaf in muffin tins the other night.

HELP! Is it possible to stall so early
cbchebert replied to PlannerGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat. I was sleeved on November 15 and lost a lot that first week . My scale hasn't moved in almost a week. So frustrated! -
I think I have stalled too. You and I had our surgeries the same day. My scale hasn't moved in 4 days. I was started on a multi-vitamin and calcium and given a B-12 shot. I am eating soft foods. I was having trouble getting all my protein in cause I just can't stomach the protein shakes anymore. My dietician recommended SF Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink. Mixed with 8 oz of FF milk it has 13 gms of protein and actually tastes good. However, I'm not sure I am drinking enough water and I need to get my butt out and start exercising now. Hope this stall doesn't last long for either one of us. Hang in there.

What is a bc pill?
-
Yes, I would think you could too. I am eating the tuna mousse right now and it is yummy - and it is going down really well. My husband is eating it and he said it is okay but he is not fond of tuna. I'm not either but I need the Protein. I think I will try it with chicken next time.

I am 12 days post-op. The last 2 days my right side of my stomach has been hurting and it feels swollen. Now I have gained 3 lbs. Could something be wrong?
-
I havent lifted anything heavy but I had to bend the other day cause I dropped something on the ground and here wasn't anyone around to help me. No,not near an incision. No fever. It seems to bother me more when I lay on my side or hit bump whie riding.

Not As Good As I Thought I Was....
cbchebert posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I had been doing good other than some back pain i've had since surgery. Last night and all day so far I have had pain on my right side and it burns and hurts when I urinate. My personal physician and VSG surgeon have all left the office for the day. I went to a Convenient Care Clinic for help. Not only do I have a urinary tract infection but I am also severly dehydrated. The NP told me if she had IV fluids there she would have hooked me up. She prescribed me antibiotics and told me to really push the fluids (I thought I already was). If not better in a couple of days to call my VSG surgeon and may have to go for IV fluids. I'm constantly putting some type of liquid in my mouth (other than when I sleep) I just can't see how I can be dehydrated. -
I cannot believe you are one week post-op and already on pureed food. I wish I was that lucky. My doctor strictly insists 2 weeks of full liquids before starting pureed. Be thankful that you don't like the smell or taste of food. I am 10 days post-op and I feel that I am starving. I hope things get better for you.

Does anyone know how you would know if you had a leak? What are the signs and symptoms?
-
Thank you all. Thankfully I don't have any of those symptoms. Just a little pain on my right side. It seems to have started after I had my drain removed Monday.

Has Anyone Cheated On Their Post-Op Diet?
cbchebert replied to cbchebert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I laughed my butt off when I first read this post but I ended up doing the same thing last night. Your right, the seasoning from the chip was really really good but it was soooooooooooooo hard not to eat that chip. Five weeks of liquids (2 pre-op 3 post-op) is just way to much and is really beginning to get to me. I have to continually pray for strength and remind myself if I do the wrong thing I could end up with a leak and back in the hospital and start all over - I could not handle that. -
Getting rid to leave for my one week post-op appointment where I will get my drained removed. A little apprehensive since I have read on here that some said it hurt really bad and some it didn't bother at all. I hope I'm one of the latter. Will update when I return.

Going To Get Drain Out...
cbchebert replied to cbchebert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Back from getting drain out. Was uncomfortable but not too bad. Down 14.7 lbs this week. Told to continue full liquids and come back next week. -
Want Details!!!!!
cbchebert replied to Neanie in Texas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mind at all. That is what we are here for - to help and support each other. My surgery went fine. After one very miserable night in the hospital, I came home. Yes I have a drain on the right side about 2 inches below my breast. That is to come out on Monday. I feel good and having no problems with nausea. The one problem I am having (also another lady on here too) is this horrible back pain. Even walking doesn't help. It is hard to get comfortable and we don't know what is wrong. I am taking the Gas X faithfully but no relief. Feel free to ask me anything and I will tell you what I can. I know this is a scary process. I'm already down almost 20 pounds from date of surgery. However, I know a lot of this is Fluid because I was so swollen when I first came home. I actually gained 8 lbs before I started losing. Good luck and keep in touch. -
I would like to know what he told you to get rid of the gas? I am 6 days post-op and miserable.

cbchebert replied to Neanie in Texas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 11/15/10 by Dr. Schrapps @ Christus Bariatric Center in Beaumont, TX. My pre-op tests include psych eval, EKG, lab work and chest x-ray. That was it. Good luck to you. -
Finally Sleeved 11/17/2010
cbchebert replied to Brandi Lewis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats to you!!!!!!! I am also taking the Liquid Loritab also but I haven't experienced any nausea. Did he give you something for nausea? My doc did but I have not had to use it. I too am taking bigger sips than I should - someone suggested a childs sippy cup so I am using that now - works pretty well. I am so excited. I was sleeved on 11/15, just weighed and I am down 18.7 lbs since surgery. Woo hoo!!!!!! Please keep in touch with your progress. There were several of us that were sleeved this week and I am soooo excited for everyone. -
Thank you all for your replies. For some reason I just kind of feared I couldn't eat these things. I ordered one of those bento boxes that Shelley from The World According to Egg Face uses to pack a lunch. I've been trying to think of healthy things to put in those cute little containers but I wasn't sure if could eat that stuff. I'm only 5 1/2 days post-op but if you knew me I am one of those obsessive pre-planners (lol).
