Good luck to you! I hope you feel better soon. So, far I just finished my 3 rd day of liquids and can't wait to eat mushy foods tomorrow. But, need to take it easy. I am feeling hunger papains today. Liquids just run thru me. I will see how tomorrow goes.

May 2011 bandsters how are you doing?

@ Erin Marie, sounds like the weight loss is good, with tiny setbacks. I am still on liquids cause I just had my fill. But, just like you I have to be cautious with my bites, chewing and portions. Since, I have not felt any restriction before. I feel a bit now just drinking liquids too fast and I have a bad habit of gulping. So, I have to be thinking about it all the time now. Hope you have a successful few months.

May 2011 bandsters how are you doing?

Glad to hear everyone is doing great! I went in for my 2nd fill today, I dk how much cc's, cause I don't want to get stuck on a number. My doctor is very conservative with fills, but did say I will feel a restriction this time, because the last fill I didn't feel anything. I have lost 37.5% of my weight and the doctor said I am doing good! I also track my food/900-1000 calories and am hoping to lose another 20 lbs by Dec. I workout 2-3 week spin an zumba classes live it and sometimes fit in a weight class. Today, I am back on liquids for a couple of days and then mushies after...hopefully, I will get a good jump start! Happy to say I am at the weight it says on my drivers license! Lol, haven't weight that since I was 22. Lol! Hope everyone has a good couple of months, it's the holiday season, it's going to be challenging!
  5. paint my toe nails without a struggle No more rolls or muffin top when I wear jeans. To actually enjoy wearing jeans and breath in them! Lol To wear cute matching workout clothes without covering them up with a huge tshirt. To wear a cute belt To wear boots that can actually zip up past my calves. To wear a cute swim suit To wear a sexy black dress with stiletos (sp?) To be more active with my kids To have my diabetes in control without meds (which has happened already!) The main reason I had the surgery. To live a healthly life with my family and live long enough to seemy girls grow up and have families of their own. To no longer be considered chubby, heavy, obese, overweight. To be in a normal range bmi.
  6. Drink lots of water before you go out and switch it up with cocktail then water. You will be pretty full of water, you probably won't want to drink. My first girl's night out I asked the bartender for water with lime and my friends thought I was drinking gin and tonics. When they did shots I dumped, mine and out water in it to make them think I was doing them. However, I did go to wedding and had a couple of real cocktails and boy! Did it hit me!!! It didn't take much for me! So, be careful and stay hydrated!

    alcohol on the band?

I had a glass of wine last night...it was 110 cal. I don't drink often, but I do have to admit, the first time I did it affected me after 2 drinks, not fun. So, be cautious with intake, calories, and carbs. And drink extra water!

    No Symptons Normal or not?

I am alittle over 3 months out and I have no symptoms, but I take it as a good sign. Some of the signs mention are not things I want to experience. I am losing slowly, but I am very content where I am. I am down 35 lbs...and have 42 lbs to go. I did get a tiny fill not sure what it was because I don't want to know now. I don't feel any restriction. I only lost 5 lbs this month, and I am due for another fill next month, but I really feel comfortable where I am. I feel like normal...i chug water like before...and chew like normal too! I am afraid to get the symptoms and regret the fill. So, be careful, just because u feel normal don't be. Follow ur dr. orders and you will be successful! Good luck to you! AND WELCOME!

    The End of Summer Challenge

172 lbs., didn't meet goal but happy to see the scale finally move. I also met my fitness goal gym 3 days a week spin class and weights. And fitting in size 10/12! It's been over 18 years since I wore those sizes.
  13. My waist. Just tried on an old belt and remember it was on the last hole, realized I just lost 7 inches off my waist in 3 months. Ahh! What a great feeling considering I have not seen the scale change a lot.
  14. It's been 3 mths since my surgery and I finally made it back to the gym. Regular cardio is good for me, however with losing some weight I want to tighten some of that loose skin. I felt it was a good time to do sit ups and crunches. I felt a bit weak in those muscles, but overall ok doing them. Then that night and the next few days....my stomach was a bit swollen and I felt pain by port area. Not sure, if this is normal. Just curious, what your experiences are?

Why did you chose the band?

My diabetes doctor referred me to lapband. He also warned me ahead time that the lapband surgeons may sway me to the bypass procedure due to numbers and quick weight loss. but, ultimately it was my choice. I read this forum for 2 yrs and watched youtube videos of ppl who had surgery. I didn't have 100 lbs to lose. I just needed to lose 60 to 70 lbs. To be healthy. So, I am 33 lbs down and had surgery in the end if May. 1. I chose lapband over bypass because I didn't like the idea of having my stomach cut and having to take Vitamins because my body wouldn't be absorbing the vitamins from food. I totally don't feel getting rid of one problem to trade it in for another. Plus, if I absolutely had problems with lapband we can get it removed. I like to leave my options open. There would be no way, I can do that with bypass. (some of the surgeons staff was surprised I was going to get lapband and not bypass due to the bypass helping diabetes immediately, but again my bmi was 37 now it 31) guess, what my diabetes improved 75% from the day I had surgery. I was maxed out on meds. But now, I am only taking one pill. I am waiting for the day to say adios. 2. I have not encountered any problems with the band, I drink Water the same, I eat small meals and still don't know what stuck feeling feels like. I am losing weight slow, but, I am still happy with my progress. I feel better all around. I am very active and I feel great buying new clothes. I just bought a size M dress and size 10 skinny jeans. I am looking forward to the next 30 lbs. Overall, I am healthier today then I was 3 months ago. I have to admit, I do feel alot more sassy. Btw, I didn't tell any friends just a select few. I feel better that way. I didn't want ppl judging me and not understanding why.

    Feel like I am stuck...

Iam stuck too! It does get a bit discouraging, but I keep at it! I keep going up and down the same 2 lbs. And have only lost 20 lbs not including preop diet. I do myfitness.com, I eat between 900 cal-1100 cal a day, walk daily and eat my protein. Not sure, what's going on. I need to find something to help me lose more. My goal is 10 lbs a month, but this month it is not happening. Next week, my kids are back at school and I am going to hit the gym. I am going to try to think positive and not give up! Good luck to you all and please let us know how ur progress goes.
  19. I have lost 30 lbs and it has improved my diabetes I was maxed out on my oral meds 10 pills a day, now I am down to 2 pills a day. I also had high blood pressure, it's all gone. I still have 50 lbs to go but looking forward to not taking any meds. I am very grateful for this surgery and very happy I got it done. It's still alit of work, but I just added years to my life!

    Post-op Challenges

Today, we had out of town guests and they wanted to go to my fav. Mexican restraurant, which on Sundays is champagne buffet. All night, I was thinking about no going due to the temptation , my hubby I should go because it was my family (they don't know about band surgery), so, I went. I had a bowl of soup 170 cals. And had fresh shrimp and fresh guacomole 6 chips and I was sooo satisfied. I ate slow and purposely got up between bites, to get my daughters food and bathroom breaks they are young and restless...i was very proud of myself and absolutely do not feel bad. This is sooo big for me, before lapband banded, I would of took 3 trips to the buffet with full plates. I am feeling good and ppl are noticing my wt. Lost.

    How many calories

I am between 900 - 1200 cals. A day. I only walk for 30 mins a day and swim 60 mins. I feel very satisifed and don't feel deprived. For breakfast I usually have eggs or protein shake only.lunch, salad with protein or protein wrap. Snack on lite cheese or sf jello pudding. Dinner protein, veggies and fruit. And lots of water between 80 to 100 oz of water and sometimes at night for a snack I will have a sf popsicle fudge. I need to up my exercise more, cause I only lose a 1-2 lbs,a week, but I feel good.
