  1. Tomorrow is jean day at my work and I needed to go buy some new britches. It was a very full circle day for me. One of the "ah-ha" moments for me was about a year ago at the Gap. I went in to buy some jeans and the 14's were way too tight, and they were out of 16's. So I left with no pants, and the realization that my weight had gotten to a point where I could not find a size in a "normal" store, only in plus size stores. Today, when I went into that same Gap, I started with the 12's - too big, the 10's - still a little too big. I left with a SIZE 8! (They are snug as a bug, but I am still about 20 pounds from my goal) A size 8 and a SMALL t-shirt. It was exhilarating. I am so thankful to my surgeon and the support from this listserv. It played a critical role in me making the decision to get sleeved 4 months ago. I feel like a new woman!
  2. 14 days - you are golden, girl. The worst is definitely behind you now. Take it easy and it is smooth sailing! I am doing splendid. This week I had a great moment. One of my pre-surgery "bad" days was when I had went into the Gap and I couldn't fit in a pair of their jeans. The 14's were too tight, and they did not have a 16. So I left realizing I had become too big to shop at a "normal," non-plus size spot. Yesterday, I bought a size 8! Size 8! I am wearing a size 8 jeans tomorrow on casual Friday - does that rock or what! You are gonna be right there too, before you know it!

  3. Sleevers, I am two months post-op and feel I have the protein counting down, but am not certain I am on track with my supplements. Here are the vitamins I currently take, how does this compare to what you take? Daily A.M. 1 Prevacid (Why do we take acid-reducers? I do not have any reflux issues - do you still need to take these) With Breakfast which is usually cottage cheese & yogurt, 1 250 mg calcium citrate supplement (Can't wait to try the lemony Cal-cet when I run out of my current supply.) 10:00 ish 2 Viactive multivitamins - but I found in the small print this weekend that they have the "wrong" kind of calcuim, so I need a new chewy, chocolate multivitamin - Any suggestions? 4:00ish Every 3rd day, either a B12 or an Iron supplement. That's it. I just don't want to be missing something my body is needing. Thanks for sharing your regime.

    So Discouraged....

Rlocke, Hang in there. It is a long race and remember we are just at the beginning! I was sleeved at the end of Dec., so I am bit further out than you. I probably eat a bit more carbs that is ideal, but I make sure all of my food is as healthy as possible. Most days I have 1/2 yogurt & 1/2 cottage cheese, then for lunch usually tuna, but today I had 5 think ham slices with one wedge of laughing cow cheese, then I roll them up. They are yum. Tonight I plan to have swai (fish) and roasted veggies. I always save myself a late night treat of either a sf fudge pop or sf popsicle. I have lost about 30 so far, but only lose about 1-2 pounds a week at this point.

    not losing anymore!

I have heard that when you are "losing" to not weigh more than once a week, but once you reach goal, weigh everyday. I cannot honestly say I can do that. I weigh way too often, but I will share the "wisdom." I kinda think stalls are just part of the journey - not that that is a great comfort, but I know it took me a long time to gain the weight and I need time to lose it also. It is all about the long-term results, right. Try and think of this as just a little road block.
  6. Barbara, I take the Bariatric Advantage chewable. It comes in a Passion Fruit flavor. I don't think it is bad, but their calcium is THE WORST. I can't get it down. I have some samples - love samples - and I am just going to toss them, they are that bad.
  7. Angel, My nutritionist says I am ok too, but I am with you, I want to be the healthiest. I also want to be sure and keep these in place to hopefully keep my hair from falling out. I think that is more of a protein issue. I also am going to get some of the shampoo Tiffykins recommended - can't remember the brand? You will probably know if you need iron. I got super tired and dizzy when I would stand up. Within one day of adding iron, I felt so much better. But, I find the iron to make me have to have a relationship with Milk of Magnesia. I was soooo excited when I found it in cherry flavor - made me feel about 100!
  8. NtvTxn, You should give up the fish oil prior to surgery. I used to take it too, but I believe it causes bleeding. The only liquid I take is I will put 4 drops of Vitamin D on my cottage cheese about every other day. I have low Vit D levels - I did before surgery. All my others are chewable. I have to find some of those gummy multis...
  9. Way to go! Keep up the great progress! Barb
  10. I had that pain too, and then it seemed to subside. I never really knew what caused it, I called it the "boob pain." I always have had more tenderness on my left side in general. I am so sorry for your pain, I hope it goes away. Never hurts to give the doc a buzz.......
  11. Deb,

Good to hear from you. I think we are at about the same place. I have lost 30 pounds so far, which is good for me. I still have about that much to go. I have been feeling fine. I think a little "too fine." Tonight I ate pasta which is awful, but now I just have to let that go, and try and have a better day tomorrow, you know? I am not having trouble with ANYTHING I eat. I kinda wish I did have a bit more of a signal. How about you, girl?

  12. I am just rocking along. I have been doing good - infact maybe feeling a little too good. So far I have lost 30 lbs, which is fab! But tonight I had Fettuccine Alfredo - what the heck was I thinking? IT was super yum. My first time with pasta, I feel really decadent. I guess I just have to move on... I didn't eat 3 servings, bread and dessert - which was certainly the case before the sleeve, but still I have to try and be a bit more in control tomorrow. How is it going with you?

  13. Way to go Anna & MrNick. Those stalls are so discouraging! I am glad you busted through it! Way to go. Words of wisdom (from Anna) are true - trust the process. I am so happy for you both! Barb
  14. I am six weeks out and have had smooth sailing. No real issues what-so-ever. However, the last three days, I have a new "pain." I feel just fine when I wake up, but by the afternoon, I have a cramp on my lower, left side. It almost feels like the catch you get when you run...., It actually feels kinda like I have been punched, not really like cramps you might get with a stomach virus or when you are on your period. It is actually sore to press or touch in the area - more like a "catch." Like it hurts to go from sitting to standing. I plan to call the doctor on Monday, but was wondering if any of you have had this? I have not had any real diet changes, but I have been sitting more these past few days. I am going to go back to mushier mushies, but was wondering if any of you had had this sort of issue? Thanks for sharing.

DeeDee, So proud of you! What an accomplishment! You are such an inspiration. I love that you put in the pic of your scale! Way-to-go!

    Pain on lower left side

Anna, It was so good to see you too. Seems like it was soo long ago you were checking-in on me following surgery. I thought is was really weird too. It has not been bad yesterday or today, so maybe I just overdid it driving up and all. Friday, I was all set to call Brittany, now I feel fine, so maybe it was just a muscular thing because of sitting in the car so long. I was stiff as a tree because I am not comfortable driving in the snow. Ya'lls weather has just been crazy!
  17. I have to say, I couldn't wouldn't have been up to Seaworld. I just wanted to be at my house. I was pooped, and felt enough out of sorts, that being in a busy public area just would not have been relaxing for me.
  18. I am one month out. I feel wonderful. I have lost 23 lbs., I feel more energetic each day, and I can actually see the results of this work. I feel like I eat fairly normal. Life is good, except..... I have not had one bowel movement since my procedure without the assistance of Milk of Magnesia. I just do not have the the "urge." I am eating food - not liquids only, and it seems kinda weird to me. I take the MOM and go without issue, and I plan to ask my doctor at my 6-wk. check up, but have any of you had issues with chronic costipation. I appreciate your candor, just wondering if this is common with others out there?
  19. Thanks so much for your email. It gave me a couple of ideas! I am swamped at the work today, so apologize for this being short - but YES, yes! I will be at the meeting on 2/10!

    Sample Day?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. A couple of other foods that are turning into staples for me are hummus. Sort of like your crackers, I will take a really thin piece of lunch meat and smear hummus on it and eat it for a snack. So yum. I have had this week the all natural peanut butter on Melba toast rounds. I have 2 for a snack and that is really tasty too.

    Your ideas?

The ladies above have given great ideas. I also bought a "bullet style blender," just because I am too lazy to wash the "whole" blender. I really enjoyed popsicles, so you might want to stock up on those.
  22. Angel, I am so sorry for this agony. I have not had this issue with nausea. I am one month out and take Pepcid - that's it, and I have not had any issue at all. I have never taken the Prilosec - can you take a capsule? I thought everything had to be liquid or dissolvable? Good luck!
  23. barbannn

    Weird ?

I was a lovely aqua marine for about 2-3 days. So bizarre!

    Chronic Constipation

DeeDee, Thanks for the candor. I am thinking things may improve when I add some more veggies and fiber. I hope. You are almost at your goal. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

    Slider Foods?

Rachel, I "think" the slider foods are the calorically dense, drinkable calories - stuff like milkshakes, ice cream, maybe even some smoothies.....
